Thank you for a wonderful salute to our black entertainers. These are the people who open doors for todays stars. They bowed down so we could stand up.
Curtis Mayfield was the Coolest cat on the block in the 70s ............................if this little song doesnt have you moving on up you may need to check your pulse ❤
WOW!!!! This is amazing! Move On Up has been one of my favorite songs for almost 50 years. The sync with dancers was unbelievable! Thanks for putting it out there for this old white man to see. I'm blown away!
It's impossible not to associate the contribution of African-Americans in music, culture, sport, entertainment, politics, etc., in American society, over time!
Yessss. Curtis mayfield. Take a trip. Move on up. Curtis was a a man that projected the future but still gave hope and gave lessons to our youth. A man of means and character.
I’ll never forget these movie clips. As a young boy around 7 or 8 I can remember watching them and just amazed at the performances of all involved. I still watch today and so great that we have You Tube. I’m 70 now and never get tired of these incredible Black American Performers.
Outstanding! My Throwback Thursdays sometimes I highlight 'hoofers,' I love my hoofers. The Nicholas Brothers, Sammy Davis Jr., Gregory Hines, Peg Leg Bates; The Four Step Brothers, with respect to other races and cultures; African Americans are not limited to 'minstrels' or Stephen Fetchet roles and talents...Feb.14th: Happy birthday Tap Dancer-Choreographer-Actor-Singer Gregory Oliver Hines (1946-2001) "Running Scared" "Tap" Will & Grace, "A Rage In Harlem"...thank you and God bless. RIP Entertainer. Curtis Mayfield; perhaps (one of the) most prolific / socially conscious songwriters-musicians of this or any generation. Thank you and God bless. RIP Genius. Thanks for the upload, olivar101. Blessings
Dancers include: Nicholas Brothers ("Stormy Weather" movie - Cab Calloway Orchestra), Bessie Dudley & Florence Hill (Cotton Club dancers - Duke Ellington Orchestra), Berry Brothers (trio), James Brown & Famous Flames, Clark Brothers (duo), Sammy Davis Jr. (age 8), Katherine Dunham (end), and others.
Sometimes we forget the struggles our people had to go thought for a small part in a movie and now we enjoy the fruits of their labor talent never dies
