thank you for making this video it was a HUGE help, the back brake pad is probably the worst brake pad I have ever dealt with it is extremely tricky to get in there. once it is in it is in though it is in. Thanks again!
One thing I want to point out to people is if you are doing the rear brakes you have to not have the parking brake on (the switch next to shifter) or it will lock the caliper on and not allow it to budge . Put it in Park and Chock the wheels you will be fine i left the car on stand for 7 hours overnight with it in Park . It was fine . Just know this if you cant get the rear calipers off thats why. Thank you for this video
Thanks for this and all the money you're going to save me. Also, thank you for torquing things down. Some people don't realize there's a such thing as "too tight". I'm just a girl who was told she can't do her own brakes. I used to do my Grand Am, but I own a Malibu Eco now (don't judge me, it was a gift) and was afraid the "regenerative braking" might be different than normal brakes. I can do this, with a PB&j sandwich in the other hand. 😊
@@s33therfan when compressing the piston with the c clamp I could just open the bleeder nipple compress the brake piston, close bleeder change pads and pump the brakes and may need to add a little
Yes absolutely. The pins are vital to the whole brake system. They tend to get seized if they’re not lubed and that will cause premature brake wear and all kinds of problems
I always like to spray them with wd40 or preferably white lithium pb blaster. Prevents them from ripping or tearing. Great question thank you for watching.
Because you probably have the parking brake on while youre working on the rear brakes . It doesnt allow the caliper to disengage the piston after taking the bolts off.

Thank you for this terrific feedback , much appreciated.
Great close ups. This is one of the better brake videos I've seen. Will help out even those that think blinker fluid needs changed.

Great information , as this could be easily overlooked. Thank you .
Sat out there struggling for 30 minutes before I released the emergency brake🤦🏾♂️🤣

For sure a good video. Used the old pad to compress the piston, perfect.
Thank you very much for the great feedback.
This is the best video I could find
Thank you very much .
Thanks for showing how to get that inside pad in.
Glad to help , thank you for the feedback.
At the end, did you have an air compressor running? Or no oil in that engine?
Nice vid and quality about to change them for myself for the first time
Thank you for the great feedback and thanks for watching.
Do you have to use that loner tool to squeeze the caliper on the back? Can you not use a C-Clamp for that too?
You really need the loaner tool because you have to twist it clockwise while applying pressure. Hope this helps.
@@s33therfan it’s does. Thank you!
I am going to install my break pads tomorrow, I love your video. Can you tell me the name of the tool in the orange box. Thank you.
It is the piston tool here is a link . Thanks for the feedback.

Can you get the caliper bracket off easily to replace the rotors?
Yes . The bolts will be tight but a breaker bar will take them loose easily. Thanks for the feedback.
when i install the caliper pins, i always burp the compressed air out by opening the rubbers, it prevents back spring tension pad wear ...
Great tip , thanks as always for watching.

does the brake resivior lid need to be off while compressing piston with C clamp?
@@austinbellamy6478 yes it needs to be off
is it absolutely necessary to clean and re grease those 2 things you pulled out at 4:58?

it does not need to be off. Thanks for watching.
on my Malibu, i did not remove cap. and no problems.
Thank you for the video!
Thank you for the great feedback.
Hi, has your car electronic brakes? Our mechanic brakes?
This one has regular brakes and only had the electric parking brake motor. Bascially just takes the place of the lever. Thanks for the feedback.
I have also a Chevy Malibu. But mine is underneath Opel/Vauxhall. 😅
These cars are really nice , very smooth driving car.
Muchas gracias por compartir amigo 👍
Gracias por ver

Great tutorial
Thank you!
How do you get the boot to not twist on the rear brakes
I always like to spray them with wd40 or preferably white lithium pb blaster. Prevents them from ripping or tearing. Great question thank you for watching.
Do you need brake cleaner ?
You might want to use it to remove the stock gress from rust prevention
Why isn’t my caliper coming off
Because you probably have the parking brake on while youre working on the rear brakes . It doesnt allow the caliper to disengage the piston after taking the bolts off.
Thank you
Great video bro
