The results are what I would anticipate on a wet track. Forget specific brands and just think about it: A turbo charged car, when the boost kicks in, puts a TON of Torque on the small bits of tire contacting the pavement. The 570s spins the wheels like crazy in hot/ dry conditions, so of course in the wet, it would be really difficult managing boost torque EFFICIENTLY for the entire duration of a Hot Lap. Meanwhile, someone behind the wheel of a naturally aspirated vehicle can just consistently, accurately and linearly slice away and maintain speed and power in a very efficient and calculated manner. in the wet / damp, with two cars of similar caliber, I would expect a N/A car to win in a head to head 10 times out of 10. McLaren is without ANY doubt my favorite supercar company based on the streamlined, aggressive yet elegant look of all their cars coupled with the way that (in my personal opinion) they push the envelope of what's possible forward. They bring such an awesome, exciting breath of fresh air to what was a fairly predictable market. That being said, Porsche... . I mean... Goodness gracious.... Their cars are so refined and excellent coupled with that prestige and owner experience. Most of you here would probably choose Porsches over a McLaren and I could NEVER fault you for that. They make timeless masterpieces and the heritage is spectacular. You may pick a Porsche where I would pick a Mclaren but either way, I think we can all agree that: A.) A Turbo car would have a hard time, competing vs a N/A in the wet & B.) Both cars UNBELIEVABLY exciting takes on the DRIVING experience. Can't WAIT to own one. Speaking it into existence
@@fastcrazy2555 LOL you have NO CLUE what you're talking about! SC2s for street driving you have to be kidding me! The SC2s are the far more aggressive tire and explain why the GT3 won.

570s is not a track car, the GT3 is....600LT is the track version of the 570s ….put that up against the GT3..... track car vs track car and it would be a blow out.
@@ALMX5DP No, the GT3 is the track version of the 911...and the GT3RS is the wide-body track version...you need a GT2RS to beat the 600LT. Don't get me wrong the GT3 is a awesome, awesome car.
Joe Flaherty hey don’t believe me? Look it up. Same dimensions as the RS and Turbo. RS does have wider tires though, so you’re correct about one thing.
You can't compare a car on road tyres and the other on semi slicks when it comes to laptime even more on small circuit like that where a lot of traction and grip is more important than a lot of power an torque.
That you used the Gt3 audio says it all (or McLaren is just quieter) It would be good to see a comparison that the GT3 doesnt win for a change, just to make it seem real!
so over a 77 second lap, the porsche was 0.6 faster. 0.6s gets you a long way when you're doing 200km/h. even on a more open circuit, it just means you can get on the power earlier/harder, it means you can do that on the porsche
The handwheel rates in the two in-car segments shown suggest a very different level of "attack" between the 911 and the Macca. Either you have not actually shown the fastest timed lap or you were simple driving the macca less hard?
Personally I would choose the 911 GT3 991.2 I just love the simplicity of the design of the 911, the sound of the 4.0liter flat six screaming, the option of having a 6 speed manual gearbox, and the fact that it’s some what cheaper🤓😂😅
You have to understand that these comparisons are unfair. Porsche has a huge advantage with the wing in downforce. It has more downforce which is better for most tracks. The downforce will outperform the power and the torque.the rs models have duo-leveled wings.
The lack of rear tire width on the macca plays a big role, but the bodywork isn't designed to accommodate a wider track. anyway, they did lob two turbos at it and gave it a carbon chassis so they should probably still find a way to win. but hey, Porsche gonna Porsche.
I think I’ve fair or test would be the McLaren against a GT3 RS. Pretty similar price, but the IRS would easily save a second or two off the GT3’s time.
The GT3 is way more usable in everyday situations, faster around bends and a whole lot cheaper than the McLaren...clear winner in my eyes, not just from a performance standpoint.
I disagree about the cost of the GT3. Only a selected few can purchase new at that price, notwithstanding it is before any options, the reality is the Porsche dealers only offer GT cars to selected customers. Most peeps who want one have to buy flipped/second hand at a premium which is around the cost (if not more) than a 570S. Porsche purchasing model on their GT cars is fookin annoying to say the least.
Naaaa - look in the market. GT3 are plenty out there for good conditions new for about 150K Euros. GT3RS is more rare, but still not out of the moon. GT2 RS and 991 Exclusive are pretty expensive.
That 4.0l in the GT3 will not be denied...

An 911 is a masterpiece. A marvel of engineering and of utmost beauty...
Steve you are the only king who could be objective
Why does it seem a Porsche horse is always a thoroughbred and rest are just plain horses. No matter what horse power a Porsche is, always comes out ahead. Like a true thoroughbred. Plus the heritage. All blends in with a Porsche. Wizards work at Porsche. Excellent video.
You may pick a Porsche where I would pick a Mclaren but either way, I think we can all agree that:
A.) A Turbo car would have a hard time, competing vs a N/A in the wet
&
B.) Both cars UNBELIEVABLY exciting takes on the DRIVING experience.
Can't WAIT to own one. Speaking it into existence
You had me at ‘Sutters at Rockingham’
So which tires are actually better? The pirelli p-zero corsa or Michelin pilot sport cup 2?
Jonathan Pontel corsa
Corsa for tracks, sport cup 2 for street drive mostly
@@fastcrazy2555 LOL you have NO CLUE what you're talking about! SC2s for street driving you have to be kidding me! The SC2s are the far more aggressive tire and explain why the GT3 won.
"Mayby, might"... plus a full McLaren crew wasn't enough. What a machine the GT3 is!
Great vid guys!
Love your videos Steve!
It is great to see you enjoy that gt3 I have to get me one of those creatures.
Welcome back
Imagine if Porsche made a 911 Turbo RS 4.0
Would have liked to see more of a review
You know how confident Porsche is when they send their car on its own as opposed to others who can not. That to me says it all.
But you try buying a GT3 for £111,000 or even getting on the list to buy one. It’s a £160,000 car.
One of our Porsche Club members just got a 991 GT3. Not only do I love the lean, chiseled look, but frankly the exhaust burble even in the parking lot is exhilarating!
btw, note to Steve Sutcliffe - can you please start pronouncing the name Porsche properly? It's 2 syllables (Por-sha), and as a professional journalist you ought to get that right. :)
The 570s is pretty much its entry level car and to say it wasn’t far behind the gt3 which isn’t their entry level performance so that’s still mighty impressive imo.
You can get a 2017 570s with a 5k miles on it for 150k.
People say the depreciation make this car suck. But I love it. It'll make it easier for me to buy one day.
A 18 gt3 with 5k miles. 170k
570s is not a track car, the GT3 is....600LT is the track version of the 570s ….put that up against the GT3..... track car vs track car and it would be a blow out.
Joe Flaherty would you put it up against a GT3 RS? Isn’t that the true track version of the 911 range? (GT2 notwithstanding)
@@ALMX5DP No, the GT3 is the track version of the 911...and the GT3RS is the wide-body track version...you need a GT2RS to beat the 600LT. Don't get me wrong the GT3 is a awesome, awesome car.
Joe Flaherty except the GT3 and GT3RS share the same body...
@@ALMX5DP No, the GT3 has the 911 body and the GT3RS has the 911 turbo body. It also has wider ties.
Joe Flaherty hey don’t believe me? Look it up. Same dimensions as the RS and Turbo. RS does have wider tires though, so you’re correct about one thing.
when there are lesser video clips like this exists in youtube, the first thing is, click like without hesitation
Can't wait to see the 600lt vs the 3rs!
Porsche GT3: more weight, less power...still faster.
You can't compare a car on road tyres and the other on semi slicks when it comes to laptime even more on small circuit like that where a lot of traction and grip is more important than a lot of power an torque.
motorsports54 I thought he said the 570s put on the cup 2s for the test.
Porsche is always the answer
The thing that I love about the GT3 is the engine. Flat six (and not 8) with NO turbo. Although I like Mclaren as well
I will get one of these GT3 one bloody day.
That you used the Gt3 audio says it all (or McLaren is just quieter) It would be good to see a comparison that the GT3 doesnt win for a change, just to make it seem real!
It wins because it is a better car not because of so!e.grand conspiracy to make Porsche seem better than its rivals genius
so over a 77 second lap, the porsche was 0.6 faster. 0.6s gets you a long way when you're doing 200km/h. even on a more open circuit, it just means you can get on the power earlier/harder, it means you can do that on the porsche
The GT3 didn't just pip it, it threw the apple core at it. Beautiful in every respect.
You should’ve used a GT3 RS
Thank you for the aspect ratio! GT3 all day
No surprise that the natural aspirated engine won
GT3 every day, all day for me. Don't want no stinkin turbos. The GT3 sounds like demons having sexy time.
Tires?? Semi slick for the gt3 and road tires for the 570s?
Mercedakias K have you seen a video? @3:56 “similar type of tires”.
Couldn't use a GoPro 7 for the lap times?
Like we all knew the outcome of that Porsche always pulls it off with it modest number and far far underrated vehicles!
I didn't expect the Mclaren to win... but Pzero Corsa's are not a similar type of tire to Cup 2's LOL. That's at least 1 second right there
More, more, more please! 😍😍
👍 For Steve Sutcliffe!
Before watching this video, one thing was for sure: the GT3 will be faster...
70 odd McLaren owners hit thumbs down, as bought the wrong car......
One thing you get with buying a porsche gt car is the very minor depreciation compared the 570
@@marcnobel3938 not a manual one though. That's what I seek for
Ah btw I am talking UK market. I know it’s different in europe
Gorgeous Porsche 911 GT3!!!
