I'll tell you what, I've been a serious photographer since the mid sixties and in all those years, I've never seen a review with so much enthusiasm about a camera ... period. I have a room full of equipment of both today and yesteryear, and I don't have one Sony RX100, of any generation. Based on what I just witnessed here, that is an omission I'll have to correct post haste. Another little tidbit I can take from this, if I ever need someone to sell something for me, you will be my very first choice to do so. Excellent video on several levels and I'm now a sub, I'm looking forward to browsing through your existing catalogue as well as anything that may be forth coming. Cheers!
I can only confirm. BTW, my best selling stock foto was taken on a walk on Fuerteventura Island with my Sony RX100 III which I had with me in my pocket - while my Nikon D810 was in the hotel safe.
I'm just getting into this field and I'm 56 years old. Been binge watching everything about camera's and you are the most information with consistency, THUMBS UP
I bought a Sony RX100 Mark 7 a couple of months ago and it's amazing. Perfect for all the photography and video needs for doing RUclips. Thanks for the recommendation! The auto-focus is amazing for doing video. It tracks your eyes and never needs to do an abrupt refocus in the middle of a shoot.
Give away? How about giving away GREAT ADVICE?!!! - Done! Love this video. I was gonna say for budget versions folks, try Lumix cameras eg ZS series. Then “bam” you mentioned Lumix! They don’t have ALL these features but a pocket travel ZOOM of 20x or more is soooo useful for the reasons you point out here. Easy to get background blur, not to mention the zoom is useful for travel. Not only does the technique outlined here give you a great blur, but COMPRESSION: where that tree looks beautiful as a big background backdrop whereas without the zoom not only is there less blur, but the tree looks smaller, less of a mood set, boring etc.The COMPRESSION you get by effectively bringing the background up big and closer feeling just makes for a great mood setting in pictures and video. I still use my zs30 (super old lumix) a LOT cuz I just LOVE it, for the same reasons above. Oh and 3:05 Markus...my favorite beach! I know exactly where that is! 😍😍😍
I have three camera's. Well, more, but three I use. A Canon EOS 5D MkIII for professional shoots, a Fujifilm X-Pro1 for when I go out and know I will take photographs. And then I wanted a small camera I can take with me wherever I go. It had to be good quality, but fit in my pocket easily. So, I got myself a second hand RX100 (mark 1). And it's fabulous, love it. Own it for about a year now, and always have it on me. Image quality is great. I almost always use it for photographes, but also the occasional video I shoot with it comes out great. And it looks cute :)
I'm so confused by so many cameras, I had to return them so many times, and getting tired by it, but, your show light it up the positive outcome of the Cameras, I love it!
I got the RX100 VI half price refurbished and it works flawlessly. My pics are still not great but I’m getting better. I definitely want to upgrade to something I can take long distant wildlife shots in the local marshes and woods, but this thing does take pretty good long distance shots.
I love my Sony RX100 Mark 6! It was in pocket going around the world from Melbourne Australia to LAX, NYC, Frankfurt, Berlin, Warsaw, London, Paris, Bruges, Zurich, lucerne, Salzburg, Vienna, Bangkok, MEL!
It is a great camera. Good tips on cheaper alternatives and on shooting to get nice blurry backgrounds. I just recently got a cheap used RX100 M1. It doesn't have a mike jack, viewfinder, Wi-Fi, flippy screen, ND filter, or long range zoom lens or as fast of a lens. But, it's still a great camera that shoots decent video with full manual controls and raw image ability.
I've done a lot with the RX100IV and still recommend it. Built in ND filter, solid 4K video, Cine 2 flat profiles (goes great with the Leeming LUT) and you have excellent image quality for such a compact camera. Only drawback is limited 4K recording time before overheating so best in HD or for broll.
This is one I started watching before and the thing that knocked me out is how incredibly focused that is. I've noticed what you mentioned about the backgrounds "seeming" green screen but your lighting is just awesome and you know how to make it beautiful.
2024. I’ve watched multiple videos of yours this week. Though the other offerings are very good, there’s no getting past the professional look that the RX100 7 is capable of. Thanks so much for the practical demonstrations.
Well that is me decided after a long time for Wild Camping Videos, the Sony RX100 Vii. I'm in UK and I have never taken a handout from anyone. The rule I work by is I save up, using hard earned cash I'm going to use the tool. Things that are free, very rarely have value to the person, and therefore they never get the best out of it. Now with that out of the way; I have subscribed, liked and can honestly state, I love your way of putting things across and really appreciate you taking the time to produce such videos with great advice for us all. Stay safe and good luck for the future.
Great video, awesome energy. Your enthusiasm for photography jumps thru the screen! People love people who love what they do and your love of photography and cameras shows. Makes me want to be a better videographer. Thanks for doing this.
Wow!! Beautiful cameras Markus my farther was very interested in photography, you know when their was no colour then but he use to develop his own pictures, he was so magical, your very magical yourself knowing all the amazing cameras that are around, plus I’m not surprised you only take Cara’s pictures she’s so gorgeous and smart like you, many thanks Markus for your demonstration and making the super video on cameras may the best person win one of your cameras to, love to you both💕💕🥰🥰🌺🌺
I agree completely - I have the Mark I and the Mark VI and the image quality from both is amazing! Great review, I appreciate your enthusiasm and thoroughness, and offering cheaper ’almost as good’ alternatives is the icing on the cake. You run an excellent channel.
I'm used to seeing the RX100 being used up close and wide on "run and gun" vlog shoots, so it's really cool to see the picture it puts out a little further back and zoomed all the way in. Super impressive! Thanks for continuing to put out such great videos, Markus!
I bought the MVII about 6 months ago. As you say, it is FANTASTIC! I use my full frame ILC for serious planned shoots. But for street photography and general walking around, the convenience and quality can't be beat. When I look at my older photos after post processing, I often can't tell the difference between those from my VII and my full frame without going into the properties. Thanks for the interesting way you presented its capabilities.
So glad I found your channel! Love your videos-even the ones that aren’t full on tutorials are packed with info and your style is so friendly with great examples! I really appreciate all the work and care you put into these.
Every one of your videos I watch, the first thing i think is: man, his videos look the best of any video on youtube and maybe anywhere else. The content is awesome too
The slow motion feature is sick and mindbogling ! I remember during one video production cameraman brought bulky expensive camera to get slo-mo and now you can get it from the pocket camera!
So refreshing to see a professional recommending and enjoying low level equipment that us mere morals are likely to purchase. I’m so tired of being told I have to drop $4000 on full frame with lenses to get decent photos. Thank you.
Hey Marcus, Thanks to you, I just got one!!!! Man, you are so right, they are sold out EVERYWHERE!!! Paid a few bucks more to make sure it wasn't a Japanese Grey Market , so I could get a 5 year warranty. Brand new camera and deluxe kit, with all the needed accessories. Later, I got a cool silicone case protector and with that on, it still fits inside the leather shoulder strap carry case. So I can carry it on my body on my bike, and it won't bounce out of a handlebar bag. I can't even feel it. Amazing. Also a magnet filter for bright daylight. Very slick. External mic on the way . Lots of good tutorials on You Tube. Oh, I love the "scenes" menu. I was told that the "pet " setting will also track human eyes well enough so I left it at that. We'll see. It does amazing macro automatically, love that. Oh and the low light sensor upgrade is huge, I love somber days. Supposed to snow tomorrow here in CT. Thanks for all you do, I was battling with an old Nikon Coolpix which was like a bucking bronco, it often refused to focus and then the menu dial started crapping out. Grr. Thanks so much, you just helped me have fun again! I can see why a lot of pros love this camera.
The Sony RX100vii just exploded on eBay! I've heard about them, but nobody has ever gotten that excited about it or mentioned that many features. Thanks for another great video!
I absolutely love watching your videos!! Your energy is transferred through the TV screen, and that's hard to do if you're faking it... However, it's not hard to achieve if it's real?! And you my friend are the REAL DEAL!! Thank you for all you do for us... The information and enthusiasm you convey is priceless!
I am a drone "pilot" and this camera sounds exactly what I am looking for, Real Estate interior shooting and everything else! Awesome and thank you point this one out!
This what I need for food close up filming. You are so amazing. I lost sleep for weeks now over cameras and lenses. I need to replace my g7x. G7x iii not up to standard of what I want. Zv1 stabilizer is off. Now I am at DC G-95. Panasonic. And this one looks promising. It’s so personal when it comes to cameras. Everyone wants different results. So it’s hard to find right reviews. Thank you 🙏
My little beast (Sony RX100 VII) arrived just today, ordered after having watched your comparision video with the latest Canon XF-605 professional camcorder. From first video test shots at poor light blew me away. Yes, Swiss Army Knife is the right term.
So I'm also able to get a blurred background with the Zuiko 12-100 f4 lens. At 100mm it is actually 200mm and f8. I keep wondering about this lens because it has a very long range in the field of view and can focus from 1.5cm. I have several MFT lenses, but I want something versatile that I will use 99% of the time.
The beating heart of this excellent camera is the 1" sensor. For the last 3 years I've used it in the RX10 (M3, then M4), and all I can say is quote my retoucher (I'm not good enough at it, so she handles this task), a top professional who's working for major brands in the luxury and fashion world : "All images very well done, nice pictures, well done technically, not much color/exposure correction to do... [etc.]". All cameras designed around this sensor can't go wrong, especially with the last BSI-CMOS generation. I can't wait for the M5 ! Of course the RX10 is way bigger, but it allows more things towards the professional end of the spectrum, and that's what I use it for. But I'm starting to consider adding a lighter/smaller camera, for "emergencies" or 2nd angle option, and your demo could seize my choice. Thank you !
Another more serious camera is its big brother...the Sony rx10mk4....it’s bigger, but even better. Check out the specs. Been my go to camera for years...love it!
I'm in the market for a relative at the minute, so I also appreciate you mentioning the Lumix option. Absolute legend. Thanks for being so enthusiastic too. It's a damn fine energy to pass on
Hello Markus and Kara. I just found your channel last week and I must of watched at least 20 videos so far. I really appreciate you sharing so much of your knowledge. You have such an eccentric way about yourself that is very captivating. All the best...Jim from Georgia
Thanks for the recommendations for alternative cameras. I've always wanted the RX100 but it's just too expensive for occasional use. I'll probably be getting the Canon Sx740 to replace my very old Olympus Stylus Tough 6000
lol I am replacing my rx100 with olympus tough. I dropped my rx100 and it stopped working. As I am hiking a lot, cycling, traveling, I find sony to be too sensitive to be obtainable
Hi Markus, I'm just coming across your videos now. I've had this camera for 9 months now. Even though it's been out for around 3yrs I still bought it for the reasons you've stated. The capability & convenience of this powerful little camera astound me. Thanks for your excellent reviews & content. Best.....Bob V
I have one, its good, dont pay alot for it if you want to get one, I got mine from Japan from a second hand seller for a good deal, don't pay the "collectors price" on ebay, its not worth it, fun camera to have.
Thank you for putting this info out in THIS WAY. I have spent so much ATTEMPTING TO dongle the hell out of tech I don't think breathes the same air as anything I need only to find myself never able to throw in for the right camera right now and it's not because I can't budget or wait or I don't value a good investment, I just couldn't decode which camera was just going to show me the picture I wanted to see for on the go inspired content that I either can't find in the haystack of my Google photos cloud or don't have the mental strength to help the digital media take the 4 trains 2 buses a taxi and still have to jog three blocks to reach my editing software, by that time, the vision of my smoothly weaved presentation looks like what they served at the culmination of the summer cooking class at the local community center where, and this is not a judgement the way it sounds but a statement about the fact that I want people to want to join the next class because retired school teacher Gloria knocked everyone's socks off when not only did her blueberry cobbler create some real buzz, but everyone who followed along nailed the recipe in their own kitchen because they didn't have to wade through crazy conversations with animals in the room instead of the person looking to learn something new they could actually use or figure out if they are missing an important step while trying to guess when to stop fast forwarding because the already bad lighting was made worse by profuse apologies about why you will just have to take her word for the fact that those berries are bright purple, and that crust is so golden and flaky crumbs are jumping everywhere right now only to get to the end of 12 minutes you WILL NEVER GET BACK TO SAY.... and there you have it, my easy 3 step way to bake up your own piece of Americana!!! Do you feel my pain lol? I haven't been able to be confident enough about WHAT CAMERA WOULD NOT DISAPPOINT ME, because those fancy specs are wasted on my skill level...I just wanted blurry trees and the lights on. Thank you...... and thank you for giving stuff away you are doing something really kind and meaningful to someone who might really need the gift right now. I'm coming to your classes from now on no matter what you got cookin' :)
Guess how old he is. He’s doing something right! Scoobie snacks and all. Living on a golf course in what looks like Hawaii and his wife! Vegans both of them.
Great straight to the point vid. Not many vids out there on the compact ranges of camera’s. It’s like they are forgotten now. For the very reasons you mentioned I think they do have a spot for a lot of people. Phones only do so much, and I have a full frame and micro 4/3rds system which I love. Given how small 4/3rds is it can still be to big as a pocket rocket camera. So trying to find a good small super zoom to fit the bill is hard . LUMIX, Sony , or canon it’s a tough call. As an oldie I like the viewfinder even if it’s shit. It’s always better than not having one. Screens on everything are shit, you can’t see them in sunlight properly that includes phones . To snap and hope there ok. But when you need to frame it properly there is no substitute.
I have a Sony Handycam that I bought ten years ago. I paid about $1800 for it and if I sold it now I would probably get $20 for it. I have even tried to give it away and believe it or not the person I offered it to rejected it. I should pull it out and see what can be done with it :)
I bought a Sony RX100 MkV and a MkVII thanks to this video. Very cool little cameras. Pricy but high quality and all sorts of settings to keep you occupied if you’re into photography. Love the the EV in bright sunlight too which I think is important.
Great Video! I'll put it on My Wish List! I'm going to look closely at The Lumix GX850 and The Samsung NX500 too! Thanks for all your advice! God Speed to you and Cara!
Great advice again, and I watch because of your knowledge and not the free stuff! I purchased a Sony RX100 M3 a few months ago, and it is a terrific camera! I have a Panasonic TM700 video camera for shooting dedicated videos, but the Sony will come in handy if ever needed. The TM700 was and still is an awesome performer, but the only thing I'm having issues with is trying to get a larger battery than what comes stock.
LMAO I'm grabbing a pen to write down the models to see what I can find for sale used and you pop up and say you're not giving one away. Lol.. I always watch to the end. Do you have a comparison video on different models of the RX 100?
Another good camera review. You provide practical advice on the pros and cons of several models and encourage viewers to venture out in the field. Your message is always the same: "Here are cameras I've tested with my comments. Now, get out there and take photos!"
Markus i apologize for for my comment below sent 3 years ago. I was way too critical of your presentation on the Sony RX 100 camera models for no good reason. Since i discovered you and your videos I have become so appreciative of ALL your videos!!!! including your "Who Am I" video which is FASCINATING!!!! I Applaud you for ALL the information you have produced to help so many thousands of photographers including me!
Enjoy your channel. After your first review of the RX100Vii I ordered one. What a camera! Great additional camera, it's my "grab and go" camera. Gotta run errands or do somethings around town I always grab this one just to have a good camera with me just in case, put in my pocket and off I go. I use it on hikes and even when I have my main cameras with me, this one is always in the bag too. So much better than trying to capture something on the phone camera. I can't believe how much this little camera does, I bought a nice little gimbal for it to shoot videos and with the flip screen works so good,.. anyway thanks for the tip! Take care.
Dude. This is awesome. Exactly what I didn’t even know I want. I’ve been eyeing every other camera out there, but recently came across an old Elph I had, and you’re right: I want a small Swiss Army knife of a camera.
Been watching your videos for a little while. Very nice review. Comparisons were great. Good to see multiple comparisons and options for on the go pocket cams. Again, great review.
I so agree with you on this. I have 2 RX100 mk 1 -- yep, the original. I'm not a vlogger, but man -- like you said -- I have as many or more shots on those Sonys than my Nikon FF D600, and 2 Fuji mirrorless. I like 'em all, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Sonys. I don't like how pricey they've gotten -- I paid $350 ea for my Mk-1s years ago, but the VII is pretty expensive new. Thanks for extoling the virtues of these -- not too many guys have much to say about them, but they're awesome.
Call me Psychic Markus but I'm getting the strong impression that you really like this camera. Even though your video introducing this camera to us was a little low key, as you downplayed its abilities. It did in a small way convey a message that you like the camera and it seems you have used it on occasion. It's nice to have something like this camera demonstrated and its features shown by someone like yourself who does it in such a calm way. I'm glad you didn't get all out of control and excited about it and constantly repeat yourself, like I see other people do. LOL
I'll tell you what, I've been a serious photographer since the mid sixties and in all those years, I've never seen a review with so much enthusiasm about a camera ... period. I have a room full of equipment of both today and yesteryear, and I don't have one Sony RX100, of any generation. BTW, my best selling stock foto was taken on a walk on Fuerteventura Island with my Sony RX100 III which I had with me in my pocket - while my Nikon D810 was in the hotel safe.
@@joyoffilming9500wow that’s impressive!
I agree with you. I can only thank God that Markus isn't doing videos on classic cars or something ... I would go broke very quickly.
Can you put a link to the photo please - super curious @@joyoffilming9500

I am a plant based foodie and a photographer. You and Cara are the perfect teachers for me. Thanks!!!!
Wow!
The Lumix LX10 is amazing -- the image looks like it was taken with a camera costing five times as much !
I love the clarity -- crystal clear !

I have never heard of the lumix lx10 before! I'm now thinking of getting one as a trash cam when ever I want to get a risky shot.
Based on this video I got a second hand LX10. Grear camera! Thanks for the recommendation!
The Sony RX100vii just exploded on eBay! I've heard about them, but nobody has ever gotten that excited about it or mentioned that many features. Thanks for another great video!
I barely even touched on all the features, it has so many
Shame about low light performance!!!

Glad you liked it!
I liked it too!! Thanks!!
I am a drone "pilot" and this camera sounds exactly what I am looking for, Real Estate interior shooting and everything else! Awesome and thank you point this one out!
for such a small camera the quality indeed looks outstandingly good :O
It sure is!!!

Yes this is what I use for most of my quick-grab-a-camera for food pics
"Okay, now that THOSE people have gone away....."
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wonder how many went away lol.
I've learned more about cameras in 1 week of watching your videos than any other channel. Great work. Keep it up.
Cool, thanks!
wow, this little beast takes great images, its way smaller than my eos m and has an evf.
Love your content!! I loved all your lens/camera comparison. Thanks for showing your setup! You have the best videos about pocketable cameras.
My little beast (Sony RX100 VII) arrived just today, ordered after having watched your comparision video with the latest Canon XF-605 professional camcorder.

Appreciate your information on the Sony RX100s. I will use my Sony RX100 VA much more now!!!
Fun video. I've always wondered ow these little things were for everyday use. Thanks for all the good info!

Its not a more "serious" camera though. Both have their place

😂🤣 “now that those folks are gone”
I'm in the market for a relative at the minute, so I also appreciate you mentioning the Lumix option. Absolute legend.
Thanks for being so enthusiastic too. It's a damn fine energy to pass on

if scene is played backwards it looks like a theft tutorial
well played in .25 it sounds like he had a severe stroke.
god the pitch correction in youtube is actually amazing ahahah
Indeed I met this young man in heart virtually today. For sure his info is more practical and relevant to his fast pace life.
I watch your videos to learn about cameras. I don't live in the US so no such thing as giveaways. I just like your reviews.
Great video Markus. I've been recommending the RX series forever now for people looking for a lightweight do it all camera. Keep up the good work man!
Best camera reviewer
Hello Markus and Kara. I just found your channel last week and I must of watched at least 20 videos so far. I really appreciate you sharing so much of your knowledge. You have such an eccentric way about yourself that is very captivating. All the best...Jim from Georgia
Awesome! Thank you!
Finally, a reviewer that bashes zv1 and favours RX100 mk7
Thanks for sharing the great videos Marcus!! You are the best! I too get great results using the auto mode as well!!
Yes I have been a HUGE fan of this camera for years now!
I like the comparison videos of the competitors. Thanks.
Thanks for the recommendations for alternative cameras. I've always wanted the RX100 but it's just too expensive for occasional use. I'll probably be getting the Canon Sx740 to replace my very old Olympus Stylus Tough 6000
local camera places were selling them for $400...Wolfes in Topeka may still have some...
lol I am replacing my rx100 with olympus tough. I dropped my rx100 and it stopped working. As I am hiking a lot, cycling, traveling, I find sony to be too sensitive to be obtainable
I have to admit, I am always surprised how good the photos from Olympus tough cameras are
Hi Markus, I'm just coming across your videos now. I've had this camera for 9 months now. Even though it's been out for around 3yrs I still bought it for the reasons you've stated. The capability & convenience of this powerful little camera astound me. Thanks for your excellent reviews & content. Best.....Bob V
Hello MarkusPix , did you try the pentax q?? its so small and interesting .
I have one, its good, dont pay alot for it if you want to get one, I got mine from Japan from a second hand seller for a good deal, don't pay the "collectors price" on ebay, its not worth it, fun camera to have.
q7 - standard zoom is ok, the telezoom is amazing and so is the standard prime, I have the fisheye but its not worth having.
@@buda3d2007 hi! May i ask where in Japan you bought your camera?
Great video, I absolutely love my Sony RX100 VII, brilliant camera, cheers
Maybe you can do with all pocketable stuffs. Pocket light, pocket camera, 'pocket' tripod and diffuser, etc.
No idea why YT recommended your channel to me as I am a photographer, I am glad it did. I admire your passion, subscribed!
So cool when people speak quickly.
*respectful
So respectful when people speak quickly.
HAHAHA 😂 "Now that those people are gone.."
VERY GOOD Video. It seems you like all cameras in the world. :))
Thank you Markus.
Well Markus you look like a modern interpretation of shaggy from scooby-doo.
the truth is that he is Fred Jones from the same cartoon
The all this time I have been thinking there was something about him, and I think you have put your finger on it.
Bobby Sherman😀
Guess how old he is. He’s doing something right! Scoobie snacks and all. Living on a golf course in what looks like Hawaii and his wife! Vegans both of them.
@@selfiedadgum3764 watch out for those chemical weed killers tho...
You're a hoot man! I watched til the end, but I don't want any free stuff.
Great Video! I'll put it on My Wish List! I'm going to look closely at The Lumix GX850 and The Samsung NX500 too! Thanks for all your advice! God Speed to you and Cara!
LOL at the giving things away starting to be come a meme.🤣
Great advice again, and I watch because of your knowledge and not the free stuff! I purchased a Sony RX100 M3 a few months ago, and it is a terrific camera! I have a Panasonic TM700 video camera for shooting dedicated videos, but the Sony will come in handy if ever needed. The TM700 was and still is an awesome performer, but the only thing I'm having issues with is trying to get a larger battery than what comes stock.
the ending is like gold haha.
hardest slap to the gold diggers who just follow you for give aways
Mine just arrived yesterday!
Thank you for your informative videos Markus!
Peace.
Enjoy!
@@MarkusPix yes Markus I will! I’m going to Philippines at the end of this year and I can’t wait to make memories with it. Peace
"Cool" might be a bit of an understatement in reference to your better half.
You never fail to surprise me. Great video and fantastic camera. Keep on keeping on!!!
I was unrealistically hoping for a price around $100 until he named the camera
Ah yes... That embarrassing moment when you learn the pockets on your shirt are fake....
The most practical camera is the one you always have with you
Agreed!
LMAO I'm grabbing a pen to write down the models to see what I can find for sale used and you pop up and say you're not giving one away. Lol.. I always watch to the end. Do you have a comparison video on different models of the RX 100?
This camera falls down only once ... then it is broken. I know what I am talking about.
Corona Virus Right. Best of luck to anyone unfortunate enough to try to avail themselves of their warranty service.
Hey Markus, first of all LOVE Your Energy and Positivity! You create smiles.
Looking forward to a review of the Olympus Tough models!!!
Take care.
I'm glad you like ir! It's my grab and go cam also 😊
Dude. This is awesome. Exactly what I didn’t even know I want. I’ve been eyeing every other camera out there, but recently came across an old Elph I had, and you’re right: I want a small Swiss Army knife of a camera.
Your presentation method is concise, informative, and honest. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
Thanks for settling the debate in my head. I just ordered my RX100 VII direct from Sony; I will not be losing sleep over it!…🔥🔥🔥
You'll love it. ruclips.net/video/0_5lQpXmyLg/видео.html
Finally decided to pick one of these up thanks to your videos and praise of the RX100 Vii. Excited for it to arrive! Thanks for the awesome videos
Enjoy!
LOL
