Hey there! If you're watching this video for the first time, just so you're aware, I know about the alternative route near the beginning of the level that doesn't require you to use Force Jump to proceed. People have commented about that for years now. In any case, hope you enjoy the video! :)
Fun fact! This isn't the first time Kyle has encountered a Kell Dragon. He is taken prisoner on Jabba's Ship in Dark Forces. His armaments and armor are stripped from him and he is thrown into a large room to be executed by means of devoured and ripped to shreds by a Kell Dragon. Kyle has to, get this part: literally PUNCH a Kell Dragon to death with his BARE FISTS. Katarn is the baddest of badasses.
This was one of the first time I experienced borderline-vertigo from a video game. They did an outstanding job of making you feel Ridiculously high up, and then demanding you to make a crazy jump to continue.
I had this game on disc back in 2001. I remember there were 2-cd's for the game and at the end of chapter 7 you had to switch disc to continue playing.
Walking along the ledge to that final secret was really nerve-wrecking and scary! And the wind current makes it even worse! So much platforming here! But I do love the night sky in this level!
There is actually a way to get up there without the need for force jump, in the tie bomber part. If you look to the right where the tie bomber is going. Right at the ledge you will see a tiny walk way you can walk about to the other side which will lead to a ramp you can follow up to the top. I found this out when i was very young. Essentially Lucasarts staff made sure you can beat the game without using the force. It shows their dedication and passion for making this a timeless classic, Along with Mysteries of the sith and Outlaws. Lovely walkthrough none the less. Happy you covered one of my favorite games i've played since early childhood. :)
Excellent series, but I have to pick a nit here. You do NOT need Force Jump to get up on top of that first wall. There's a way around, by some ledges. How do I know? Because I was too stupid to even try Force Jumping. ^.^
If there's anything about this game, it's that the environments themselves are even more challenging than the enemies. It's crazy! The sky in this stage does look cool, very elegant-looking. =D
Lighteningboltforever, I know you said you didn't want to do "dark forces" but I would encourage you to consider it, you do such an awesome job at these games, way better than I ever did, you find secrets I never knew existed and based on your commentaries, you're a fellow star wars fan, just consider doing "dark forces", that's all I'm asking.
Miraluka (mir-a-luka) hail from a planet in the outer rim that isn't in the normal space lanes. There aren't that many Miraluka in the Galaxy. They have the distinction of having no eyes (hence Jerek's little "band" around his head) and see through the Force. They are naturally Force Sensitive from birth. I don't remember their planet name off hand. Hope that helps!
Oh the planet's name is Katarr. I remember because Visas Marr (from Knights of The Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords) was a Miraluka who survived her planet's destruction. Yea, the planet's name is Katarr.
99thJediWarrior Katarr is actually a colony world. The Miralukas' original homeworld (unnamed) was rendered uninhabitable for somereason (undisclosed) and they migrated to Alpheridies, and later set up colonies on Katarr. You can read this and more here: starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Miraluka
Just wanted to tell you that you don't "need" force jump. Go to the right after riding the lift to the roof. There's a small ledge. Side step comes in mighty handy. Awesome review though! Love the classics :-)
Jerec is a Miralukan. Their home planet was destroyed 4,000 years earlier by Darth Nihilus who sucked their planet devoid of life and almost wiped out their entire species. But obviously they survived.
jsmasterlubu3 if you're thinking of the planet katarr, that was a miraluka colony, that darth nihlus destroyed, their actual homeworld is mentioned in the tales of the jedi comic series, the name's too much of a mouthful for me to say it.
Not sure if anyone is still playing this game or reading this but you do not need force jump to get up top. When you get off the elevator go to the right and there is a ledge there that you can follow around and walk up to the top. Also, you can get it on EA Origin for about 5.99.
0:30 whenever I heard that music throughout the game I always got really excited because I remembered Kyle deflecting those blasts from the Stormtroopers. When I was eight I'd sometimes reenact the scene in my head every time I heard it.
The Miraluka's original home world is unknown. It became uninhabitable for them, so they migrated an adopted home world called Apheridies. It should be mentioned in Wiki.
huh, that's weird. in my game, the room beneath the one we fought Yun in had three stormtroopers and an officer in it but it seems you got just two stormtroopers. is it possible that the modes you use delete some of the enemies? anywho, i really appreciate this level for being sort of relaxing after Yun. i like the TIE bomber stage, Jedi Knight has some awesome variety you didn't always find in games back then. i'm angry at myself for missing out the kell dragon though, i just went straight up the hole and didn't even notice the elevator switch. thank god for YT, otherwise i might have never learned of this thing's existence (because no matter how good it would be, i really don't think i'll play this game ever again after beating it, there are just so many titles out there i have yet to check out so it wouldn't be fair)
You have to wonder how these imperials operate that tall lift at the beginning of the level if there are no computers to operate, or how they move about the palace if there are no doors to go through...
All in all, I love the classic stormtrooper design as opposed to the ones with shoulder pads and wish they simply stuck with the regular troopers but I'm not complaining, I do understand they're meant to distinguish between the ones who use the rail detonator and the repeater gun (MY FAVORITE), but I guess they can't always be used.
THANK YOU. Tried for the past 30 minutes trying to search the web if anyone got stuck because their force jump was too weak, finding nothing. Thought I was softlocked.
3:45 you actually do not need force jump. There is a path on the right side that you can take to get up there. I never used force jump to get up there.
I was quite surprised to see that Yun and Jerec both weren't humans. The only human Dark Jedi is Sariss, strangely enough. But either way, the species names are pretty cool. And yeah, Kyle always needs Jan to bail him out of trouble. But soon, it'll be the other way around...
Actually you don't need to force jump up there in the beginning. Just walk to the extreme right edge and there is a ledge you can walk to the rear and then just walk up the building.
+Razdor Game Channel i'm pretty sure there is always a way to access all progress-dependent areas without using the Force (not counting the secrets of course)
@@dvader518 to be fair Kyle looks like he's in his late 40s in dark forces, and late 20s for jedi knight. Tbh I didn't recognise they were the same character at first
Actually, I don't think it has anything to do with the better option. I mean, each of the guns and the saber have their advantages, but I think I just like to switch up weapons just for the fun of it all. =)
I had a great deal of fun in this level lol!! I used to force pull all the weapons off the troopers and officers and watch them run of the edge of the tower and the wind shaft as well ha ha ha!! Oh...you can kill an officer behind a closed door with your lightsabre!
Even if I had played this game that many times, I probably wouldn't try going through all of the levels that quickly. Because I'm not that confident and I like to do things carefully.
dammit. same here, had sent him a message a few days ago (a video clip actually), but haven't gotten a reply back yet. he must be quite busy with work or home life, but he should done one of those update videos he occasionally does to let us know what's been happening.
Hi LightningBoltForever, i'm revisiting your DF2JK playthrough again, and it motivated me to install all the fancy mods you mentioned on top of my game :) The HUD mod is very useful, and I grabbed JKRemastered multimod pack to make it easier. Plus mousewheel app, necessity :) I got one strange graph glitch that i can't get rid of though, and maybe, just maybe you could help? Or any other fan of the game. My problem is when i fire blaster rifle or briar pistol, i get a weird box around the barrel instead of the blast laser just leaving the gun and going forward. A box flashes and .. it does not look well, what can i say :) Have you seen it yourself, by any chance? Know anything about it? If you do, you'll be my favourite person for a week :D Thanks for your time and cheers! edit: it appears that the issue comes from increasing brightness ingame. when i set brightness to 0 or 1 (1st step in the bar) the issue appears very sporadically, anything more and it's every shot from blaster. So for anyone wondering here it is.
Since that you got the lightsaber, you still play the game as a FPS. It's just because you want to or it's the best option? I'm asking because on my JK2 walkthrough, I only use weapons basically to snipping or to destroy enemies that doesn't affected by the lightsaber. Otherwise, combining the lightsaber's defensive and offensive skills and the Force is much more effective on JK2. It's more like the "Jedi way", lol. Anyway, I'm enjoying so far this walkthrough. Nice work, LBF!
I actually using a few, but the main two that alter the graphics is called "Jedi Knight Enhanced" and "Jedi Knight Retextured". If you wanna set it up this way, there's a pretty good tutorial that'll show you how here: /watch?v=OcpICJI40iQ

Man that ledge was so perilous to get around. Gave me serious vertigo as a kid.
Jerec is a Miraluka. He is the same species as Visas Marr from knights of the old republic 2.
This game would make an awesome remaster! Great memories with this one.
If there's anything about this game, it's that the environments themselves are even more challenging than the enemies. It's crazy! The sky in this stage does look cool, very elegant-looking. =D
Your fear of heights makes this even more entertaining.
Released in 1997 and still worth it in 2020

Jerec is a Miralukan. Their home planet was destroyed 4,000 years earlier by Darth Nihilus who sucked their planet devoid of life and almost wiped out their entire species. But obviously they survived.
But that was decided later. They changed him from a species whose empty recesses normally embrace eyes to a species whose empty recesses never do.

Did you know that once you hit the Tie Bomber with a rail detonator several times in that level, you can destroy it? I did that.
Pretty night sky in this map, btw.
The Miraluka's original home world is unknown. It became uninhabitable for them, so they migrated an adopted home world called Apheridies. It should be mentioned in Wiki.
I used 20 thermal detonators and 5 sequencers before it died.

At 3:30 you don't need to use Force Jump there, you can also use a tiny ledge on the right of the building to get to the ventilation shafts.

Those things were retcons. They were intended to be humans when the game was made.
You'd think some of these individual consules could do something exciting to open a secret area never known.
Actually you don't need to force jump up there in the beginning. Just walk to the extreme right edge and there is a ledge you can walk to the rear and then just walk up the building.
Hmm, that has never occurred to me to do that before. And here I though I knew everything there was about this level. =P
I can verify this. That's how I always got up there initially.
I also can confirm this. You don't need force jump to complete this level. I've never used it there.

Never knew that info about Yun or Jerec.
The one about Yun is especially dumb. Epicanthic is just the word for Asian eye morphology.
There should be something else to it, because Jan is considered human , yet she is obviously portrayed by an Asian woman.
Szőke Dani But isn’t Asian in either Dark Forces or Jedi Outcast.

Good video, brought back memories 😎👍

I remember going out of my my to play lightsaber only. It just felt unnatural using a blaster as a Jedi.

Haha yeah I have. But that's okay, because it's still tons of fun each time.
Even if I had played this game that many times, I probably wouldn't try going through all of the levels that quickly. Because I'm not that confident and I like to do things carefully.
...Plus a new Jedi Knight game.
At least you get weapons to kill the kell dragon this time. In the first game you had to punch it to death with your fists
You can actually destroy the tie bomber by landing a couple of explosive hits on it.
I am planning on it, yes. And it will be 100% as this one is, provided I memorize where the secrets are. =)
10 years ago holy cow
I hope you enjoy my friend.
At 3:15 it would have been funny and a perfect moment to use the Wile E. Coyote fall sound hehe
EA should remake this and Mysteries of the Sith.
EA should burn in hell and never touch a star wars series again
