    I just brought a Marlin 917v 17 HMR and I’m really to sell it already. I can have fun with it because it’s too loud in my backyard. I have 2 acres of land but still I have neighbors.

    Great review Chris, have the older 452 version, lighter trigger spring and pic rail on top great wee rifle. Wish I could find a synthetic replacement stock as the Walnut one is mint be shame to bash it up in the field plus no change on POI due to our inclement weather .

    Good review Chris, I’ve gone with a Weihrauch hw66 though as the record trigger does it for me.
    I understand the rabbit problem, could you explain why hares need to be shot though ? We’ve not had any rabbits for years due to Mixi.

      Because they attract 'trespassers with dogs' and taste good. They are also currently in massive population on one farm with effects on the crop too

    Would the 22lr in 20 inches be a good starter carabine for PRS? Its light, with a good scope it should be perfect compared to the MDT which is almost 1.5x the cost.

    I have never understood people who buy a rifle in 17 HMR. I shoot a CZ 457 MTR 20" out to 200 meters and it out performs every rifle in 17 HMR. Plus the good ,22 lr ammo is up to 75% cheaper than 17 HMR.

    Hi Chris,
    I have seen other CZ's, that when fired the bolt handle seem to move upward. If I may could I ask why that happens?
    Keith

    • @chrisparkin431
      @chrisparkin431  Год назад

      It doesn't happen to mine. Sone rifles have a slight bolt handle twitch when they fire which is due to the action timing but it's not a big issue or uncommon on anything but custom actions. If it's bad, chances are the bolt wasn't fully closed in the first place.

    Hi dose cz do this in a 20 Varmint as it’s listed on sportsman, I’m just asking as you didn’t mention the longer barrel, I’m thinking of getting one and not sure on the best length of barrel, would appreciate any advice, thanks

  • @zdeneklaube1450

    Hello, isn't the barrel too short for the calibre 17 hmr for a precision shooting distance of around 100 metres?

  • @nelsonm5032
    @nelsonm5032 11 месяцев назад +1

    how does the heavy barrel synthetic compare to the sported barrel synthetic? i know the ones you have are 22lr and 17hmr but…. i just ordered a synthetic in 22lr over a varmint with the bull barrel, hope i don’t regret it! cheers

    • @chrisparkin431
      @chrisparkin431  11 месяцев назад +2

      it's slightly heavier, you wont benefit from any perceived accuracy benefit but you may prefer the handling character

      @@chrisparkin431 i ended putting a MTR barrel in my Synthetic Stock. it's a bit more accurate but, the consistancy is much improved over the sporter barrel! shot some SK RM and Standard +. largest group i achieved at 50Y was 3.1 mostly in .2 range. very impressed! Cheers

      I was lucky for once with absolutely still air which is usually the killer of 17HMR , the groups on steel were shot on a different day and affected as normal with wind drift
