Jefflist, no one in my area. I got a Pella store and big box stores. Watching your videos for a year. Half tempted to drive 10hrs to Huston for a consultation. Lol
JEFF, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INSIGHT. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF OPENING MY OWN WINDOW REPLACEMENT AND ENTRY DOOR COMPANY. 36 YEARS IN THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY, JUST LOST MY PASSION. HAD LIKE 8 WINDOW COMPANIES COME TO MY RESIDENCE, EVERYONE ONE OF THEM DID WHAT YOU DESCRIBED. AFTER A FEW MONTHS I DECIDED TO GO ON MY OWN. FOUND HIGH QUALITY INSTALLERS, WITH VERIFIED REFERENCES. I AM GOING BE OFFERING ONLY PROVIA PRODUCT. I BELIEVE IN MY HEART I CAN HELP A LOT OF FOLKS OUT IN THIS BUYING PROCESS. ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INSIGHT , YOU ARE WELL RESPECTED FROM MY PERSPECTIVE. GOD SPEED.
Jeff, thanks very much for your videos. If a salesman says they will use a certain material/brand for caulking, but they use different one in their installatiom. As a customer, what can we do?
A laminated window CAN be a part of a double pane window. I'd suggest to buy a double pane window WITH laminate glass to get your best STC numbers. I'd ask any prospective window seller to provide you with the STC numbers of your exact sizes in several options so you can make comparisons based on science. Hi Jeff, another really good video. Thx. I notice you you don't sell Weather Shield. I'm preparing to replace some 43 year wood windows. I've narrowed my choices down to Marvin Ultimate and Weathershield Signature casement windows. Looking at them it appears the Weathershield is a little better quality. Any thoughts?
The one thing I don't like about the Marvin is the nail fins. The WS has the integrated nail fits built into the windows as part of the windows. It would be good if you could do a video on nail fins of the different windows. I spoke to a General Contractor yesterday that used the Elevate on his last 2 jobs and he would not recommend that model of window from Marvin. I really like the Marvin Ultimate sliding doors but the windows just don't appear to be as good as the WS Signature series. Anyway keep up with the awesome video's. Thanks for informing us in the public about windows....just add some comments about nail fins if you haven't already done that.
What is you’re recommendation for the BEST noise reduction windows? I live probably 200-300 feet away from a main road with loud car muffles throughout the day, I feel like its driving me crazy. I have the normal double pane windows through out the house.
The best product I know of is made by a company in Salt lake city. The product line is called Amsco Serenity series. I don't know if they sell that in your area but you can check with them to see.
Hello Renewal by Anderson came to my home pushing their Fibrex dual pane windows. I only need 6 and none are a sliding door and they're charging $24,000 but discounted to $18,002. Sears came out and is selling me Organic Vinyl with dual panels and a security nylon in the middle and they're charging $10,178. I canceled Anderson because they made me give $1,000 to hold the discounted price. I canceled them for Sears but I'm still unsure of what to do. I'm going to check out your list. Any input is welcome
Thank you for watching and your comment. I'd avoid both options if I were you. You can get much better value and service from a local based window dealer who will value your trust every step of the way. Thank you for visiting JeffsList.com
What type of frame would you suggest? I live in the desert near mountains so we get as cold as 16° and as hot as 118°. My husband recently died so I don't have anyone reliable to ask. Please help me.
Budget will dictate a portion of my decision. $$$- Pella Impervia $$- Amsco Vinyl If you need a wood interior, $$$$- Pella Lifestyles $$$- Windsor Pinnacle You can also check and see if we have any great window companies near you that we can recommend. Visit JeffsList.com
Does Renewal by Anderson use subcontractors? Do they have the best warranty? When I Google them it says they have the best warranty and have been in business the longest.
And most areas, they use subcontractors. However, the subcontract is only work for them. They will stand behind the work, and keep you happy. It's very easier for them to do that, considering they are 200% more expensive than comparable products offering the same value. There are many more products that you can buy that are more affordable and have as great of a warranty. One of my favorites is the Infinity window. Do a search for my video about that and I think he will find it to be very interesting.
I don't think so. By the way, I traveled through your city a few years ago. What a cool downtown you have! I started a website to help people locate a great window company near them. We may have someone in your area. Please visit TheWindowExperts.com
I live in the Bay Area. Had 1 window company, Brothers Home Improvement, tell me never rip out the window frames, causes leaks, etc. Different company, A Taylor Made, wanted to rip out a lot of frames and do new construction. What’s your thoughts on this? Thanks
In California it's code to leave the frame in place. We rarely do that in Texas and we get a lot of rain. A highly qualified installer should be able to do a full tear out and guarantee they won't leak.
I would love to hear ALL these questions 😂. Proud of my company!!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video and all the others.

Any advantage to letting the salesperson know early or later in the process you will be paying cash?
I would save that card for the very end.

I've seen both in person. I'd bet in Marvin over WS

They are overly costly!

What are your thoughts of Joyce Mfg windows in Ohio? What is their top of the line product. I'm looking for best sound and insulation possible.
I have never heard of them. The best thing to do would be go read reviews online and compare their sound transmission data to your expectations.
