  • Yamaha F9.9 FMH - 9.9hp 4 stroke outboard engine & 4.0m Honwave T40 AE1 Inflatable boat - test drive
    Boat:
In short words: Best inflatable boat I've ever had. Superb quality, very stable, spacious and comfortable. Safe for both: lakes and sea shore areas (class C), only thing: its very large and quite heavy so not very portable.
Recommended engine is 10 to 30hp, this test drive is with 2012 Yamaha F9.9 FMH and to be honest reading internet opinions I thought it will be much worse... watch the movie and find out yourself.
    some data
    GPS measured speed:
    1 person + 12L fuel tank, paddles, seat etc (~120kg) stable 29km/h
2 people + 12L fuel tank, paddles, seat etc (~210kg) stable 21~22km/h (depending on wind)
4 people + 12L fuel tank, paddles, seat etc, other gear (380~400kg) stable 12km/h
total fuel consumption (most swimming with 70% throttle) ~3L/h
    Engine:
Yamaha implemented some number of changes in 8~20hp engines built after 2006, from practical point of view:
    new engines are 3~5kg lighter
    better fuel economy and emissions
much easier to start the engine (decompression system)
flush system which makes flushing engine very easy (like after swimming in salty water)
part of metal body is replaced by plastics (tough but easy to scratch it)
hmm... 2.66m B-square marina inflatable boat with 9.9hp 4 stroke Yamaha engine had same max speed and its ~40kg lighter + ~40% smaller (same smaller water resist)

Cool tender. I'm interested in this one and I'd use a 35HP Mercury engine with it. Mainly to be used in the sea.
