Still have mine re did the powerhead smoky at first but cleaned right up 60 tlra the new fuel w ethanol sucks hard to get other but so far so good 2002 still rocks I herd the 4 cly u have to go up 10-15 hp to get the same performance ?
cato storlid I doubt the owners manual says to take out of the box and late in dirt that start it and pull it out of the water with it running that way you run the water pump dry immediately and then completely ignore any type of break in for a new engine and give her wide-open throttle immediately
If I got one of those I’d look after it a tad more lads but fair enough least your using it most just let them sit on the drive or moored up collecting mould

I had one of these on my 14 foot ali boat they are a beast will run all day very reliable engine 1 carb 2 cylinders cant get more basic than that .

As far as I can see, there was no break-in process. Didn't they read the user manual? BTW, these are EXTREMELY good outboards.
no need to break in , this is a special edition engine!!
Break in periods are important. The engine most likely got warped by running it like that.

Because there was rope there so he raised it to not catch the rope
Pop in the engine up to go over a rope for that short of time is no big deal at all
