I think the one thing that the remaster has going for it is the improved lighting. It is more dynamic, more clear, and feels less "filtered." The problem is that they didn't bother retexturing or even remodeling a lot of objects that in the original were mostly hidden by more sudden drop-offs in the amount of light like more sharp shadows etc. If they had given it a bit more time improving some props the remaster would indeed look much better than the original

It's incredible.. The original has no ray-tracing no Global illumination no advanced settings, no dlss, but it looks waaaay more better.. Its's more pleasing to the eyes
1:35 Ew, all I can pay attention to on this part is the lack of bounce lighting in the original. The area behind the door is lit so unnaturally. That's really the biggest difference for me. The new lighting gives the game a more realistic look, though the color balance has been affected.
Remastered improves the lighting and looks softer on the eyes so you can play for many hours without eye strain. Texture has improved but is only clearly visible in the PC version. Good performance improvement. It deserves a good remastered version!
what I never understood is why HD era video games always assumed that decals like water or blood or dirt splashing in your eyes would be razor sharp from one's POV and not a big blurry spot covering half the screen

And because a big chunk of that incorrect glowing look came from technical limitations of the time, not really completely intentional artistic choices. It's not better or worse, just different, but the technical upgrades are pretty objective. Some for he people in the comments just don't want to look past the less shiny image.

AFAIK EA didn't published the remastered Crysis series. The Crysis 1 remastered used console version because the original PC version didn't efficient enough to run in console, even the modern ones. Crytek made those for fundings because for some reason EA still holding the rights for OG Crysis. I suspected this because the OG Crysis 3 still need to login into EA Play (previously Origin) in order to play it.
Not really and I checked it with the first crysis which you could destroy even the trees in the new crysis remastered they have cut many things to put the raytracing and it did not look good at all since it is very different from a game as control for example. Crysis 2 was the worst of all Crysis games. An absolute console port - stupid, boring and annoying with the gun almost in the right eye. Terrible experience. Crysis 1 was the only good game among all the others.

Man... I remember playing this at 30-45fps on high settings and I was already happy about it, now 60fps feels so sluggish 😂😂
me too ... back when im still using integrated graphics, having 24fps feels already good enough

Sometimes that has to do with some bad vsync or frame pacing for lower framerates. Its weird, mostly present in newish game that make 30 fps horrible

I like the Cry Engine more than the Frostbite or Unreal engines.
On a small scale, yes. But on a large scale like battlefield, CryEngine would be too hardware intensive for any pc
I'm also not a big fan of Unreal Engine, but damn Frostbite is amazing, I'm in doubt about these two.
