Color grading had more expression before. The new color grading just tries to show all the graphics which cuts the realism & emotion.
It is not "before". The PC Version (right) is older than the PS3 Version. PC just has more FPS and better Resolution (Not completely true. CRT had high Resolutions back in the day. Way over "Full HD" now) now. The PS3 Version is a cut down Version, because Crysis was hefty on PCs back then. I remember i upgraded my GPU and RAM when it came out and i first started it lol. PC Release is 2007. PS3/Xbox360 was from 2011. The Colourgrading you see on the Right in this Video ist the same it was when it came out in 2007. It is the original. PS3 Lighting and Colours look better sometime, i would say that. But now always. It looks more cinematic and has an awful fps :D
@@mynickisalreadytaken It looks to me like the PS3 version is set to medium detail. If you have the original Crysis installed, try setting it to medium, you'll see it looks very similar to the PS3 version.

Компьютерную версию ps3 чисто физически не могла бы потянуть, так как старый движок использует 1.5 потока процессора.
Движок версии для ps3 взят со второй части игры. Он умеет в многопоточную производительность и намного более оптимизирован.
По этой причине игра отдаёт синевой, как во второй части.
Оригинальный crysis куда тяжелее. На fx4350 с максимальными настройками просаживается до 30 фпс в некоторых местах.
I think I perfer the old color grading. Its too muted in the remaster. The impact of the sunrise is deminished for example

@@Cycu1 But the ps3 used a different version of the cryengine with "revised" lighting if I remember correctly, I even remember Crytek saying the ps3 version would look better than the pc one lol
@@UNMERILLY Color grading is key to making a game look great! What the pc has overall is changing the monitor has color calibration and much more to get something you prefer. While the tv doesn't have many options from the standard. They use color grade LUTs to make the game look like that. That is why the pc version looks like how it is. It is relied on your own monitor to do the work rather then the game using color grade LUTs.

thats coping lol the graphics were just ugly cuz PS3 can't handle that much graphics as this game was the benchmark for PC GPU for a good while. I remember playing Battlefield 3 on PS3 and that damn game ran so bad, it was always bewteen 10 fps - 25 fps for every map in multiplayer. stuttering like crazy with choppiness

It's funny to look back and see how bad Crysis ran on the PS3, it's surprising that Crysis 3 came out a few years later and looks infinitely better and somehow runs much better than the original Crysis on the same console.
Because the first Crysis was a purely PC title and later modified for the console. Crysis 3, on the other hand, was created simultaneously for computers and consoles. Therefore, the second and third parts were accused of certain limitations due to limited consoles.
It was because of terrible optimisation which isn't surprising for ps3 because of cell cpu
More of a fair comparison should be about last of us on since it utilised ps3 very well
Original Crisis was designed based around the assumptions of the day: that clockspeeds would just keep increasing indefinitely.
Instead, clockspeed improvements scaled and the industry shifted to multi-core to find new performance gains. Original Crisis was single threaded
Crysis 3 also runs like hot dogshit on PS3, it's no different.
@@gnrtx-36969 Crysis doesn't have bad optimisation on PS3, the console is being pushed beyond it's limits, as was so often the case. It can't be compared to a linear moviegame like TLOU with scripted gameplay and virtually non-existent destructability.

Back then in 2007 on the PS3 the picture was much more impressive than now on the RTX 4080.
PS3 version was released in 2011 and was made on a new version of cryengine
the PC version is this video is the original from 2007
Back in 1993 on the 486, Doom was much more impressive than the Doom Remaster is now on the RTX 4080.

Don't be ridiculous :D The PS3 version of Crysis sucked HUGELY. As did any Cryengine game they tried to port to the machine. Drops to just 11fps (!!!!) with averages in the mid 20's, low detail settings and view distances, jaggy shadows etc.
The processor in the PS3 just couldn't handle that geometry. You needed a decent specced gaming PC to run Crysis, and a top end machine to play it smoothly at 60fps.
PS3 couldn't come close. But at least it got a port!

We haven’t really reached a huge graphical leap last one was from the PS1, Sega Saturn, N64 to the ps2, Dreamcast and GameCube. And a slight leap to the PS3,original xbox. This comparison doesn’t really change much besides fps, lighting and some shading. As far graphics goes it’s not a huge leap. You can run an open world as large as Ghost of Tsushima on a ps3 and the game will still look great but gameplay will suffer due to its hardware limitations when it comes to distance, moving objects, multiple enemies on the screen. I’ve first learned this owning a PC and having to switch to different GPU. I used to believe that changing gpu will improve the graphics but all it does is make better shades, lighting, fps, draw distance.

The old color grading looks better and gave the game far more " depth" contrast than the newer version. Looks better .
Eh. A pretty good chunk of the processing power that Crysis was known for using was used for ambient lighting. Just throwing in direct lighting, disabling the ambient lighting, and cranking the contrast might look more punchy, but it's rather cheap. If you're outside standing under a tree, it isn't dark.
PS3 looks way better.

Is this the original 2007 PC version of Crysis, not a remaster? Then an RTX4080 is giga overkill for it, unless you use 4K with tranparency supersampling set to 8x or SGSSAA 4x / DSR.
I'd be more interested to see OG 2007 Crysis running on an iGPU from these days. I'm pretty sure the last ones from AMD can handle this at high settings fine.

The 4080 is overkill but even modern CPUs are not overkill for Crysis. Crysis was made thinking clock speeds for CPUs would go through the roof when they've actually barely changed. Cpus just have more cores now, and Crysis doesn't use them properly
So even modern PCs can't run crysis at 60 fps the whole time lol

Old color is so good. Color correction these days is pure trash. No artistic talent in the industry these days.
On PS3, it looks more like a movie, and on PC, more like a game.

Crysis ps3 is like running on low settings 720p with 30FPS. However color/art style is a bit more vibrant than original pc version.
btw Crysis 1 is really far ahead of its time.

It looked pretty real without RTX on a 1080P screen back in the day. Remember maxing 2 and 3 out when there were memes about it. 4790k and GTX 690 ftw
Crysis 2 looked worse than Crysis 1 in my opinion but Crysis 3 was amazing, it killed my HD5870 in 1080p back then.

Devs are dumb.
The ps3 has some type of blue filter and some built in shaders on, the PC doesn't have it but that can be easily recreated with the re-shade mod though!
Crysis was (intentionally) aimed at a system that didn't even exist at the time, It took years for the hardware to catch up. The fastest PCs at the time struggled pretty hard with the game it took a couple generations to really run the game at max settings and high resolutions.
It is true that they used the consoles version to remaster the game, even for PC port? Because on PC, the original game still looks so good.

The remastered colour grading sucks ass, I remember playing it on my 8800 GTX back when it came out and it looked way better at a good resolution and high graphics settings but with that original colour grading. I don't understand why publishers these days try to make everything look so washed out.
The PS3 one looks cooler, honestly, higher resolution and better FPS, and I would choose that one.
Another aspect of the PS3 version is that 2D Billboard trees blend to 3D at a very short distance from the player - this transition is easily seen on a 4K set.
Sure the RTX has higher resolution and more details, but the old color grading gives you mor atmosphere. I prefer the old one.

Optimization experience performance
PS3 = 9800 GT ~ HD 4730
PS4 = GTX 750TI ~ HD 7850
PS4 PRO = GTX970 ~ RX 480
PS5 = RTX 2060 SUPER ~ RX 6600
This is why I will wait for GTA6 to be released on PC. Even the PS5 Pro will never support native 4k with 60fps+.
This game still has one of the best scripts out there.

PS3 and Xbox 360 used the Cryengine 3 it was a "dumbed down" engine. The original Crysis used the Cryengine 2 which was more impressive technically than the successor, it was too hard for the 7th gen consoles. Unfortunately Crysis 1 Remastered used a modified Cryengine 3 and if you try to shoot for example a tree leaf the animation is only 30 fps even though you have 90 for example and also the destruction is much worse than the original Crysis. Of course we got Ray Tracing and many great assests but the engine, even Cryengine 3 (modified) has a very bad performance just like the original Crysis, still can eat my RTX 4080 + Ryzen 7 5800X3D combo.

PC footage is from 2007 version, PS3 version from 2011 🤔 it appears to me, that you DO NEED to change color grading for game to look better.
This game doesn't take advantage of the PS3's performance.
I prefer console gaming so I have a soft spot for the PS3 in this comparison.

The PC version is from 2007 (running on 2022 hardware in the video), the PS3 version is actually from 2011 (running on 2006 PS3).
