Hey Josh, just wanted to thank you for the tips and the video on this, I've watched other videos on this and they just tell you, you actually show us how. I'm just now starting to get into this and I needed to see some videos. Thank you sir.
I asked you a while ago about this type of HOW TO vid and you delivered I am a custom painter not a electronics guy but your vid makes it look something I can learn to do myself and I have saved this vid and plan to save any subsequent vids and will do the work and install thanks for makeing it look "Easy" I look forward to the next one Thank You I cant wait to get started :D Steve
Glad you finally got this video uploaded. Is this an older Kato? I have an old Kato that I've been told that I need to isolate the motor. I've smoked 1 Tsunami decoder already and I'm apprehensive to try it again. If you have any tips I'll take 'em! Great video!
@cameronB50 Basically, but not exactly. Motor terminals, track pickups, etc are different on different manufacturer's models ... but they are all pretty similar.
Have you did a basic decoder installation in an Athearn Genesis SD70M of the ones when they first came out? The ditch lights and the handrails are not installed. I haven't seen anyone do a review on this yet. Leo
hey man i have an athearn cnw c44ac its dcc ready, can i do this same prodecure if i want to install sound on it? i dont want to do anything to ruin it as it was a very rare find
First find out the engine model that you have and then you can do some research (i.e. wikipedia) to see what primer mover, or engine sounds, would be correct for the model. Then select the appropriate decoder from the manufacturer. Also, many decoder brands will tell you which locomotives the decoder is appropriate for. Thanks for watching!
Good No unnecessary background music. That is not necessary here . Super commentary very clear .

Nice vid. I gotta get me an adjustable soldering iron.

Thanks

Does this also apply to athearn RTR locomotives for example SD40T-2???
What do you think of the Railmaster speakers?
Ive ran into problem distorting the spring in the KATO HM-5 motor by soldering directly to the spring cap
I have a On30 with DCC. What I would like to know , Can you instal an HO sound board on it
hello I have a dda40x. bachmann is a DCC on board but it has no sound where I can buy. or what do I need?
Do your ditch ligts flash and alternate?
Yes, but I replaced the entire light board. The plug and play soundtraxx decoders are a bit more expensive.
is it EMD 710 DCC Diesel Sound Decoder?
does this go for all engines and all tsunami sound boards
With technology today, are DCC and sound decoders combined?
Nice
how do you know what board to get and the right sound for your engine?
This video rely helps thanks

what is with the SD70 looking cab on a GE locomotive
Hi Josh,
I'm working on a Proto2000 E6 Loksound install. Do you know if a Loksound Micro can handle such a large locomotive? Thanks
Christian Javier I am not sure. Sorry. I would recommend referring to the online loksound manual on their website
Thanks a lot! If theres anything else I can help you with let me know!
can you teach us how to super-detail a locomotive/rollingstock?
Is this a Kato unit or Atlas?
Was this model DCC Ready?
where did you get the adjustable soldering iron?
Just google for a "soldering station". Links will get you on E-Bay as well...
Not on this one. That is because the prototype CN loco does not have flashing ditch lights.
