Man I've been trying all day like 6 hours now on a mopar one I bought from market place. It's never been installed. What a pain in the ass!! I made the bad error or latching the front first. Now I'll do it your way. Thanks for the heads up.
Yeah didn't work. Front just won't budge. Just need a 1/2 inch. Been working on it so long now really want to see how far I can throw it. Idk what to do lol.
Yeah I feel ya! The new ones are SUPER TIGHT. Best advice I can give ya is to let it sit out in the hot sun for a few hours - that’ll help give it some stretch. You can also unlatch the top locks between the doors to give you a little extra room and then use leverage to close it all up.
Are you talking the stuff I did the lift with? Honestly it’s just the hardware store. 6x screw eye bolts (4 in rafters, 2 in 2x4) 1x 2x4 4x 200lb straps Bag of zip ties
I don't have a hard top. i am replacing my factory original softtop with Bestop Replace a Top for 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4-Door. Don't have to mess around with any OEM hardware. However, the top I received in shipment has a cable spring. And I don't know if it will work with my jeep.
That’s a good question - a lot of Bestop replacement tops I’ve seen with springs are on the JLs. Just double check your instructions or call Bestop to get some of you didn’t get any. Good luck!
It works for some, not for others. Phone calls are impossible even when it’s closed. For me, running the top down in the sun is worth every noise, squeak, and everything.
Two reasons. 1 - so I could get maximum bite on the bolt without it poking through the other side 2 - less chance of the 2x4 bowing as it stays under load all summer.
Saved my bacon. Thanks for the video
You bet! Thank you for watching!

Thank you so much for the video. I couldn't have done it without it. My first time installing my soft top. Thank you. 😊

Does anybody know what size screws you use on the first part of the install the pivot point Help please
Without taking mine off to confirm right now, I think they’re M6x1x20. You can get them at your local hardware store (ACE Hardware if you have one)

I like the idea of having a soft top but I doubt I will ever get one.

Why didn't you lay the 2X flat rather than on its edge?
Two reasons.
1 - so I could get maximum bite on the bolt without it poking through the other side
2 - less chance of the 2x4 bowing as it stays under load all summer.
What year is your JKU?
2018. Front half of the changeover year.
@@karlthemnjeep Excellent video! Thanks.
Thank you!
Those are not nerf bars, that is a roll bar. Nerf bars attach to the under side of your rocker panels.
Thanks for the clarification!
A little candle wax will help your zippers zip smoothly.
Thank you for that tip! Those things are buggers grrrrr.
