    Actually, Notre Dame isn't the biggest/grandest church in Montreal. It's actually St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. That one's the biggest one in all of Canada.

    One of the great things about Montreal is the amount and grandeur of its colonial architecture. Boston, Quebec City, and New York are the only other cities in North America with an old built form like that. Other cities were either too new and/or too small to have an equivalent. Love those quaint little Canadian restaurants/bars in Old Montreal.

  • @interstellarlapisthecccp4946
    @interstellarlapisthecccp4946 8 лет назад +10

    I'm originally from Toronto but I've been across all of southern Quebec and I must say Montreal is my favorite city so far. I liked Quebec city too, and even though it had more historic buildings it didn't have much of anything else. Montreal was just interesting everywhere you go, especially the old town by the river but also the Olympic village and uptown. Toronto is interesting too I guess (for a Canadian city) but too much of it is brand new condo's with the same type of architecture. These building might fill out the city's skyline but there isn't much to do or visit there. I do recommend going to exhibition place however and driving around the actual downtown area (like yonge street, queen street, bathurst). definitely go see Casa Loma and surrounding areas, it's the nicest neighborhood imo, and also visit the ROM, CN tower and Ripley's aquarium. the Convention center also hosts a lot of events and if you have money there is no shortage of party opportunities (again, if you have money.. Toronto is fucking expensive) Other than that I would say San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles were the nicest cities I've seen in North America, and Chicago was nice too. Never been to Vancouver because I didn't really see the point... if you're gonna drive 5000km out west might as well go a bit south and visit California instead xD

    • @Galaxyshooter116
      @Galaxyshooter116 5 лет назад

      That's the thing about visitors coming to Toronto. They only visit the downtown core but they are missing out on Torontos easts beautiful Bluffs, valleys and parks and the wests High Park.

    Nice video that covers the waterfront. A couple of corrections, cold weather doesn't really hit until December... end of September to November is actually pretty nice, not a lot of heavy coat weather (with some exceptions). As for winter extremes, true it can hit minus 30, but is not the norm and while some Montrealers will take advantage of the underground links to avoid the cold, it's inaccurate to say Montreal streets are empty in winter--there is always a large pedestrian presence on the streets regardless of time of year. While the drinking age in Montreal is 18, it's not exclusive to Quebec--drinking age is 18 in Alberta and Manitoba as well. Notre Dame Cathedral is not the biggest church in Canada, or even in Montreal. St. Joseph's owns the title of largest in Montreal. Marie-Reine-du-monde is certainly larger than Notre Dame, and St. Patrick's is up there too. No disagreement that it is a great city.

    Kid you can get beer and liquor 24 hrs a day at Alberta private liquor stores at the age of 18.
    I think you’re referring to Ontario where it’s extremely regulated and expensive.
