LOL thanks, some viewers complain I talk too much. Before I retired, they would often give me the new hires in my shop to train. The young people in my shop loved to make fun of me, the old man. However, when they wanted to know how to do something I was the one they came to see.
Me as well, I purchased my first tool set in 1969 at the age of sixteen. You are correct as nothing ever goes as planned, especially when trying to film a repair. LOL
You really don’t need to do all this. I found out that your able to lower the control arm and move the knuckle to the side. When you move the knuckle to the side I added jumpy cords so the knuckle would stay in place. This will give you plenty of room to remove and install ball joint with the press from AZ or any other store ball joint removal and of course remove the tire rod. Total time was less than 1-2 hrs and that is taking my sweet time.
It absolutely could be, but there are a number of other issues that could cause those same symptoms. (too many for me to speculate from afar) As you saw at the beginning of the video the wheel felt lose when I raised the vehicle. The excess play in the ball joint became very evident as I shook the wheel while the joint was on camera. I would start by raising the vehicle to see if any of the wheels feel lose, then go from there. Thanks for the question.
Did you notice when you had this problem that when you apply the brakes, it acted like the rotors were warped?? And you had shaking in the car and steering wheel? I just put brakes and rotors on my 2012 Nissan rogue eight months ago. A couple months ago it felt like those rotors had already warped when I put the brakes on. It turns out I have the exact same problem with the ball joint. Just curious if you had the same issue.
In this instance when I drove the car all I noticed was a knocking noise over bumps and some excessive play in the steering. I would be interested to know if the pulsation persists after you replace the ball joint. There are a number of reasons rotors can become warped in the months and weeks after replacing the brakes. keep in touch.
Right this dude is using junk tools, and his earthquake gun took forever to remove the bolt from the ball joint 😂. He had to spray it and still didn't have enough umpth with that garbage.
Thanks for watching the video Evan, If you are going to be replacing that ball joint by all means let me know how you make out. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. I respond to all my comments.
In most cases that would be best. In this situation the car belonged to my nice (a single mother) who did not have much money. I saved her about $100 by doing it this way. Thanks, or the comment and watching my channel.
Next time use a real air gun or electric, my kobalt electric gun took it off quickly no issues. No spraying it. Earthquake is cheap junk from harbor freight.
@@richardspaulding5035 no I just don't use junk for tools, and been doing this a long time. The car is old as shit, and rusted to hell from NY weather. It's called having the right amount of torque, which you do not have with that earthquake pos gun.
@@kingdon9690 No amount of torque was going to remove that bolt. Have you seen some of the other videos? It is very common. I repeat you were lucky. By the way I opened my first shop in 1977. I'll bet you were still floating around in your old man's jewels.
I am sorry you were disappointed. I have had complaints that my videos tend to get too long. As a result, I perform some of the simpler operations off camera assuming my viewers possess some level of skill. Evidently you do not.
I like the way you explained the details very precised and so helpful

Awesome video. Very educational. I love working on cars. Always challenging though

Thanks dan260140; I will try doing it that way next time I work on one. Thanks for watching my channel.
Use a cold hammer chisel to spread the clamp part of the knuckle holding the frozen ball joint. it'll drop right out.
Thanks for the suggestion, Chris
@@richardspaulding5035 Thanks for the Video.
could this be the cause of knocking/clunking when braking and accelerating from a stop? Nissan Rogue 15

Or just remove lower control arm in about 4 minutes!?!???
It is not about saving time. Anyway I would love to watch you get a control arm out in 4 minutes of a 10 year old vehicle. LOL !?!???

FYI. Heating steering components is not a recommended practice.
Yes, well I hated doing that but trust me it was the only way.
Thank you
