I had a very similar drink at a place called "The Hawthorne Lounge" if anyone ever visits Wellington in New Zealand I would definitely recommend checking it out
Because Dewars is a collection of about 40 different malt whiskies and grain whiskies and because it's a blend of several styles of whisky the flavor isn't particularly strong. The whisky that is most prominent in Dewars is Aberfeldy, which is a classic highland malt with flavors of honey, pear/apple and vanilla. It also has a bit of a strawey hint and another common descriptor I don't personally pick up is orange marmelade. Like I began by saying, most of these individual flavors will be subdued due to 39 other malts/grains contributing and because of a high percentage of grain whisky. That said, if you like Dewars you might want to try the 12 year old Aberfeldy and compare them for educational purposes. If you're just after a good whisky to make this drink with I'd recommend Monkey Shoulder, because it has appley flavors from the Glenfiddich and some slight spicey (cinnamon) flavors from the Balvenie.
I don't mind that you guys make ads, but I feel like there's a way of doing that without spreading misinformation about the actual taste of the whisky. There's absolutely no "rich tropical fruit" flavors in Dewars, and there's no way the subtle aromas of apples and individual spices are going to cut through a punch of ginger and lemon sours. The reason you'd use Dewars in a drink is not because it's particularly appley or spicey, but because it is "neutral" and doesn't have particular flavors that stand out too much. That's what signifies a well blended whisky in my opinion. It's supposed to have a slight hint of several styles and not too much of any style in particular, which is exactly what Dewars does well. As you can see I think there are positive things to say about Dewars, but I think the description you guys put out shows that you either know very little about the actual whisky or are unscrupelous enough to market it falsely to make quick dough. Either way, it's disappointing.
Love it so much that I made it twice. Thanks Rich & Andy
I always love your drinks Rich!

Go Ninja, Go ninja go !!!!
What is the difference between bourbon and whiskey or is it the same thing
They're basically the same thing... but also different. Bourbon is an American whiskey that's made in a specific way, with certain ingredients.
Bourbon is mostly corn. A minimum of 51%. Tends to be sweeter than regular Whiskey
Thanks for fixing my American pronunciation of De-WAHRRRRSSS
