    40 year old here. Heavy lifting (squats, deadlifts, bench etc) and lots of protein cures lots of things. I am still hitting PRs and am way stronger than I was in my 20s and 30s. I refuse to be complacent.

      @@Fitfatherproject - Yeah, at 47 I'm much as I was at 20 ... I was a bit of a fat f****r then too! 😉... I'm more in shape than I was when I was younger for sure! I'm more spherical than I used to be - but a sphere is a shape - so I guess that's progress! 😁 ... Seriously - back in the gym after Covid and one or two health challenges of my own so - cautiously cranking things up, just getting the habit back and not really looking for progress, yet! - but it's good to be back! 👍

    Sticking to the basics is by far the safest and most effective method of exercise known to mankind. Before launching my career in the fitness industry as a trainer and nutritionist, my back was falling apart during my college years - That was eons ago!! Given the fact I had crippling back spasms, sticking to safe core workouts and simple push / pull routines, helped me strengthen my back and build the physique I have today at 50!! Keying in on nutrition and making sure that's on point coupled w/ safe, simple consistent exercises can go a long way!! Satay STRONG, my dear amigos!!

    This is a meal plan for a man who sits down for a living and has no physical requirements for his job. An active person, who has to put in physical work. Carbs are your best friend. Not sugars, but rice and grains. Keep the fat to minimal and swallow as much protein as you handle. Lastly, watch the magic begin.

    ****guys please don't let a woman that does not have any motivation to be healthy drag you out of the gym.**** I was getting the guilt trip about going. At first it made me so frustrated I just stopped going. I gained 45 lbs. and felt like absolute crap. What's worse is that I felt so bad and was not happy at all so the increased time I got to spend with her was 95% arguing.
    No I "work late" she's forced me into lying to her which is a slippery slope, but atleast I feel sane because I got my work out in.

    The bit I found most interesting was guys 40+ should exercise all muscle groups during each gym session. I always thought isolating muscles on workouts is the best way to build them regardless of age. What is the logic behind older guys having to do it differently like you described?

    • @Fitfatherproject
      @Fitfatherproject  3 года назад

      Hey Michael, thanks for writing in and great question! The logic behind doing full-body routines is that you don't have to wait so long to spark protein synthesis again for the same body-part. If you did one muscle part per day, for example, you'd have to wait a full week to work that muscle again vs. doing the same muscles multiple times a week, sparking protein synthesis to help with development each time. Plus it allows for a more well-rounded routine, especially to those just starting out with lifting.

    And here's another big one. "Taking care of your skin is different from taking care of your body." No one actually says this, of course, but it's the unspoken "truth" behind all skincare advice. Actually, the truth is just the opposite. A good diet and moderate exercise are the best way to take care of your skin. And why "moderate"? Well, that's because intense exercise depletes the skin's fat cells over time. And they are critical to the skin ecosystem.

    I’m wondering. Does it have to be 10:30am? If I wake up at 4am. Can I hold off breakfast till 8am and get the same effect?

    I had neck surgery 2 years ago, two disks replaced. I wanna go back to lifting weights. Iam 42 iv noticed my left muscle after surgery Is a lot thinner. Not one doctor can tell me why and always give me convoluted answers all I wanna know I'd canbi lift again.

      Hey Peter, thanks for writing in! Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide a more accurate answer than to your specific doctors but generally speaking, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to go back to lifting. The amount and intensity may change a bit but you should be able to make some decent progress still. However, as always, we would recommend getting the specific green light from your doctor before moving forward as only they know you and your situation best.

    i do all these things and maintaing the weight well. combined with somedays IMF/ But walking is not good for fat loss? i walk several days like 5 to 6.5km at quite high tempo (6,5-7km/hour) in the morning with no breakfast. Take a lunch later. Usually after those days, i have weight loss. Cause you get in a calorie defecit 400-500 extra. Or is that not what you ment with low cardio? On the days that i do workouts (with weights full body mixes each day different at least 3 days/week) and combine waling and protein higher intake, also has good effect.

    what is this chap a doctor in? I can't remember the last time I considered a doctor a better substitution to a fitness professional!?!? Each to their own I guess.
