This is the first dual core phone I've owned that I feel finally steps it up and is the next generation of android. Too many dual core phones suffer from slight lag, and laggy webbrowsing(compared to iPhone or windows phone 7). This is the first android, performance-wise that truly feels fluid, lag-free and even smoother in its web browsing than the competition. The best android experience I've had so far. Despite Samsungs bad Rep for updates, they did phenomenal in software performance.
Its a multimedia powerhouse as well. It's the definitive android experience, and very stable thus far. Battery is much better than other dual core phones as well. Easily will last u 12-15hrs while most dual core phones will give u 6-9. My only issue is it takes a while to charge. But the battery life you get off that one charge will last you more than a days time with moderate-heavy usage.
Yeah they are undergoing soon good changes , I love working for them:) and i can't wait til they complete the upgrade so we can provide better coverage to more people .check our what's all being effected at the sprints RUclips , under ithink sprint vision
sprint has the best rate plans, and the only truely unlimited data plans. This is important because GPS, internet, downloading music, apps, basicly everthing what makes a phone smart uses data. However, sprint is currently going through a network reorganization which has been negatively impacting the entire network since feb of 2011.Sprint's wimax 4g network has weak signal at best. Sprint still has a billion dollar commitment to clearwire wimax, but investing in LTE technology as well.
@Awayze Some people prefer a bigger screen because of their hands. I actually tried both the Galaxy S II and the iPhone 4 and the S II feels a lot better in the hand compared to the iPhone 4. There's no such thing as a 'perfect size' as they are mostly your preference.
@pyro74boy actually.. let me correct you on that. Next year people aren't going to get the early upgrades anymore due to not enough people participating on that offer. So basically when the galaxy s 3 comes out. We are going to get that instead of one year later, getting the galaxy s2.
@Steven0sborne As an overview what was in part 1 if somebody doesn't watch it, or isn't watching the videos back to back or just as an overall recap. You act like you can't just go to 1:26 and skip pass it.
Here what I think y the data speed are so slow is because if u live in a very populated area every one is useing the sprint server so it slowing it down. But if u live in a regular town u get good data speeds
@Awayze well its opinion. Personally I think android is best because of its features like open source. With android we have a lot more freedom to do what we want. Android is more flexible and allows many things to be done on it. Even cars are getting it. This may sound like its asking for virus attention but... all smart devices now can easily get viruses. My opinion android is best for its flexibility and customization options.
The new app store isn't just for 2.3 Aaron. My Galaxy Tab 7 inch on Verizon got it about a month ago and as you know the Verizon version is still on 2.2.
Aaron on the international version of GS2 it was possible to tap the side of phone to move cursor when typing a text message. This is a cool feature. Is it available on the Sprint GS2?
Thats how 3g is in wash dc in my area a total nightmare,it was not like that at first,I want a new phone but still have the OG evo 4g until sprint fixes this problem, sprint better hurry up and fix this because its been 2 long and I might have jump ship soon
@pyro74boy i dont recall them coming up with stupid excuses they just said they've made a mistake and they gave out free cases remember? they can't just give everyone who bought iPhone 4's new phones and take the iPhone 4's back and anyways i use an iPhone 4 and i don't really notice any problem in loss of reception at all in terms of daily usage unless i grip the phone with both hands very tightly which is highly unlikely in daily usage.
@pyro74boy then why would apple make the most smartphone revenue? because most ppl prefer this simple interface and the antenagate doesn't affect most ppl. i don't think apple handled the situation badly they were just saying that things like this happens to all brands as the only reason why there was such a speculation around the iPhone antenagate is because the iPhone is most popular at the time.
@pyro74boy i guess it really depends on the user, but in my opinion the appstore is superior to any other app market on other platforms e.g. android, sybian, blackberry
@CharlesChuck6 I ment all iphones both old and new. The iphone is NOTHING it just sells based on how easy it is to use not because its better at doing anything.
@Awayze The Epic Touch, Photon, Evo etc... r extremely more capable devices & the Epic Touch, Photon & 3D r actually smoother than the iphone4 & more powerful. Multitasking is true because u dont need to minimize programs to go n2 another1. The wifi tether is outstanding & the epic touch has a lot nicer looking screen w/deeper richer colors & a more fluent interface. Just basic things like the widgets & having a true desktop browser w/flash make the entire experience more enjoyable
@pyro74boy in my opinion its the other way around where apple cares about the users and always tries to provide the best smartphone OS for users and to maximize the user experience. however i think android yet somewhat "open" might not always be as secure as iOS and is not for everyone. i restate the fact that there is no OS that is the best as it all depends on personal opinion its just like asking the question is football a better sport or is basketball a better sport?
I live In Philadelphia, Pa and I have an Evo 4G and i get around 0.20mbps-1.3mbps and it seems pretty fast to me. The phonedog website loaded in less than 20 secs not on mobile. And i wasnt on 4G because i dont use 4G on my evo because i can never get a DAMN SIGNAL!!
I have a question @Aaron. With all the att and T-Mobile transactions going around what's the best service to get know that has a better shot at future technology advancement in data. Like 4g and data.
It's not Aaron's fault Sprint sucks. They chose a shitty frequency to operate their 4G services off of. You need a gazillion more towers to cover areas using 2.5GHz then with 700MHz. Not to mention mucho money which Sprint/Clear don't have a lot of. Verizon certainly wasn't stupid gobbling up all of that precious 700MHz spectrum. It paid off well. Great coverage indoors and blistering speeds.
Would you recomend this phone to me if I live in decatur, MI and make regular visits to Albion, IN and go to Killeen, TX every other summer? I'm really worried about signal strength.
Great review for a great phone! I like how you don't skip the quadrant standard test so we can see it run through. Keep it up!

I applaud the fact that sprint is upgrading their network but they should have had it ready before releasing this awesome phone
@james23817 It's the overlay of Samsung, it changes the looks of everything (icons, launcher,...)
Its a multimedia powerhouse as well. It's the definitive android experience, and very stable thus far. Battery is much better than other dual core phones as well. @fr6. Yeah it does look like the iPhone 4 , since the iPhone 4 has home, menu, back and search at the bottom
I work for them :) its part of the network upgrade , merging iden network and the cdma network.. and to start bringing more coverage to mote people
sprint has the best rate plans, and the only truely unlimited data plans. This is important because GPS, internet, downloading music, apps, basicly everthing what makes a phone smart uses data. If this was September- November 2011 and I wanted the best android 4g Wimax phone, this would be the best.
You're the best reviewer.
I love this phone!
Good review!
Sprint 4g coverage in NYC is very good. I average 8 to 10 Mb/s. 3g speeds are slow 400 Kb/s max.
The Samsung Epic Touch (4G) does not have a slideout qwerty. That is only available on the original Samsung Epic.
@monsterhunter3000 No, Verizon will have the Nexus Prime, Droid 3, and iPhone 5.
Best phone now!
Sprint updated 3g where in from finally!!!!! Now i get anywhere from .8 mbps at my lowest and 2.1mbps at my highest
the 3g and 4g speeds in my area have been great.
3g averages around 1-2 mbps
4g averages around 4-8mbps
My 3g works good in fayetteville nc not problem at all with sprint data
@Awayze Some people prefer a bigger screen because of their hands. I actually tried both the Galaxy S II and the iPhone 4 and the S II feels a lot better in the hand compared to the iPhone 4. There's no such thing as a 'perfect size' as they are mostly your preference.
@gaivoron yes it will.
@pyro74boy actually.. let me correct you on that. Next year people aren't going to get the early upgrades anymore due to not enough people participating on that offer. So basically when the galaxy s 3 comes out. We are going to get that instead of one year later, getting the galaxy s2.
aaron your hair is even cooler than mine. My hair is awesome honestly
@AngelHess Not too much but it is bigger
A-Dawg seems to have slimmed down a bit..
@artungonul Physically impossible, 3g networks only supported up to 2 mbps. After that the carriers classify it as 4g.
@Steven0sborne As an overview what was in part 1 if somebody doesn't watch it, or isn't watching the videos back to back or just as an overall recap. You act like you can't just go to 1:26 and skip pass it.

@Vidaell verizon isnt getting the galaxy s2..were getting the samsung nexus prime instead which will be just as good if not better.
@CrappyVlog soon, most likely in mid-October. No definite date yet
Just fot this freaking awesome. Hella fast.
@monsterhunter3000 no, it has to do with it competing with the iPhone 5
lol that FFCamera face was unexpected
@Awayze well its opinion. Personally I think android is best because of its features like open source. With android we have a lot more freedom to do what we want. I seriously hope Sprint watches your videos and knows how bad their 3g is!!!
The new app store isn't just for 2.3 Aaron. My Galaxy Tab 7 inch on Verizon got it about a month ago and as you know the Verizon version is still on 2.2.
did you know that in Israel we had front faceing cams since 2002?
and even on NON smartphones
@rianisawesome thats conflating since this looks like an iphone with a big screen, so your really saying the samsumg looks shit too.
Sprint is in the process of upgrading their network. That could be the root of the issues people are experience
@pyro74boy eloquent.
@pkerry12 actually, the US version looks nothing like the iphone
@merts487 it does work with AT&T HSPA+ network
Having the same 3g problems in Greensboro, NC...
@SimX9000 i get very good wimax indoors. 10 to 12 mbs on average
i love my ep-touch
Dog fight request : sgs2et4g vs evo3d vs photon. Bring it
@merts487 no problem anytime
@everyknowsitsbutters u serius. Iphone 3.5" I believe and s2et4g has 4.5" I think. A lot bigger than the iphone.
@merts487 There are no versions of GS2 out in the States with LTE.
lol who was hopeing that he would put the emma weston pic at the end of the video?
Aaron on the international version of GS2 it was possible to tap the side of phone to move cursor when typing a text message. This is a cool feature. Is it available on the Sprint GS2?
Are they going to come out with one that has a physical keyboard, like how the first generation did, and if so which carrier will have that?
Thats how 3g is in wash dc in my area a total nightmare,it was not like that at first,I want a new phone but still have the OG evo 4g until sprint fixes this problem, sprint better hurry up and fix this because its been 2 long and I might have jump ship soon
Y dont they use the animation for changing orientation in the browser as they the use in da gallery
@pyro74boy yea but it was released in june 2010
@SimX9000 It's not that WiMAX sucks it's the garbage 2.5GHz band that Sprint uses
Awesome
Call it the Epic S2!
@blaxroxbro i could care less about the iPhone. Specs wise of course its faster but Verizon's data speeds are better, thats wat i was trying to say.
I notice the only way I can get any decent speeds on 3g is early in the morning, but during the day its dead, that's sad
@pyro74boy when did apple say they have design issues? as for iPhone making crappy phones, they have won best smartphone for 4 years in a row
Why are phones getting bigger?!?!
iPhone is the perfect size tbh, the EP Touch is huge.
Just basic things like the widgets & having a true desktop browser w/flash make the entire experience more enjoyable
great phone, but any concerns about it having wimax? what happens when sprint goes to LTE, will this "4G" phone become a 3G phone?
I cannot tell the difference in screen size between the epic and iPhone
@blackberrykevo you can :P
Can you take off the shutter noise in the camera?
Lol this phone is fast i mean incredibly fast i had the nexus s4g and this phone is by far the best software and sprints connection wise.
Really, what's going on with sprint 3g? It's bad everywhere.
middle
@skymitch89 same :D 4g is just way fast
Could you please start using Vellamo bemch? Thanks
Anyone know the more preferable UI? That's all that's left on my decision ATM.
and to think galaxy s III rumors have already started...
"Better looking than iPhone 5?" We don't know what the iPhone 5 looks like.
is it better than the mytouch 4g slide?
Can u do screenshots on this as well?
4gs works good for me
I live In Philadelphia, Pa and I have an Evo 4G and i get around 0.20mbps-1.3mbps and it seems pretty fast to me. The phonedog website loaded in less than 20 secs not on mobile. And i wasnt on 4G because i dont use 4G on my evo because i can never get a DAMN SIGNAL!!
Tmobile galaxy s2 vs at&t galaxy s 2 skyrocket or Samsung epic 4g touch?
I have a question @Aaron. With all the att and T-Mobile transactions going around what's the best service to get know that has a better shot at future technology advancement in data. Like 4g and data.
does it come with the 16GB sandisk card installed like the epic I?
is the cam better then the MyTouch 4G slide?
Sprint is way faster here in Texas
@blckjade05 Ah!! I never thought of it that way. Hmm...
T-mobile? If so, when?
dosent the epic have a keypad?
i am confused this supposed to be galaxys ii for Sprint. will it come out on tmobile?
@pyro74boy Never sleep on Apple.
It's not Aaron's fault Sprint sucks. They chose a shitty frequency to operate their 4G services off of. You need a gazillion more towers to cover areas using 2.5GHz then with 700MHz. Great coverage indoors and blistering speeds.
does it have call blocker built into the os?
I miss Noah.
I swear I cannot wait to get my hands on that Galaxy S2 via ATT. Omgosh. Talk about salivating. Lucky arse Sprint users. Hmph.
On at&t do you have to pay for HSPA+ or 4g extra money then 3G?
Would you recomend this phone to me if I live in decatur, MI and make regular visits to Albion, IN and go to Killeen, TX every other summer? I'm really worried about signal strength.
