I was about to give up on my Roku stick because nothing was helping until I came across this video! Thank you so so much for posting this. Definitely helped with troubleshooting
Outstandingly straightforward with clear and concise explanations. My Sonos system has never worked properly and now I think I can get it functional. Thank you so much.
Excellent video I was pulling my hair out all the videos I watched and nothing was working .... I don’t even have a Sonos sound bar but I got done cheers mate
I spend years trying to get my sounds bar to work via HMDI just for sound while another HDMI to my sky box. This helped me get it working as I didn;t have the CEC/Arc turned on in my TV
So, my post below was not accurate. DirecTV was wrong. After watching this video, I found an adjustment on my TV settings and now all of my DirectTV channels have sound, Great video!
Ever so awesome. My new tv is vastly different from my last tv(w.r.t. back panel input and output. My last tv is 10 years old and looms like a stereo reciever). The acronyms are not even logical - I'm glad I watched this. I seen the menu items but wasn't connecting the dots....lol Thanks for the great video
Thank you sooooo much for going through the tv settings as well. I had it connected once before but for whatever reason couldn’t connect it again. So somehow my tv settings had changed and stopped me from connecting the two together. Thank you for your video. It really helped.
Thanks a lot! Very helpful video! with the digital audio output setting as Dolby output, the soundbar didn't work but was making noises. After I changed the type of digital audio output (under the sound setting on my TV ) from Dolby to PCM, the soundbar works with the HDMI cable connection.
@@Allabouthomeelectronics I replaced a ROKU hotrod stick+ with the Streambar in bedroom and I love it, the processor is every bit as snappy... the stick powered on and off from the TVs USB port, but the streambar has a regular plug-in, and when I power down the TV the streambar stays on (the light on front only goes from blue to amber if I unplug/replug in the device. Wow , I've been messing about with settings for days , and trying different leads and stuff . Watched your video, all done and up and running like a dream in seconds. THANKS VERY MUCH mate ❤️ Really appreciate it 😊
Exactly what we need. We are connecting a SoundTouch 300 sound bar to a Samsung 65 inch class CU7000 UHD. Something that we've never done before, so we hope that this will be the exact information we need. 😅
I’ve got Samsung TV and has hdmi 2 for arc and I presume you just run a hdmi lead from the soundbar to that port and then a PS4 that is in hdmi 1 or say firestick in hdmi 3 will run the picture on those ports and use hdmi 2 for audio? Sorry usually I use digital co axial of optical and this is new to me.
I did my SAMSUNG 6500 into 8000 TV and it does not need to be the TV-ARC slot. Any of them do work with the TV remote. What ARC is needed is OUT of the Soundbar. A Optical Cablecis also needed for mine as it always switches ON to the D.IN but now it all w orks with both used. I had got it working with the TV-ARC firstly but it works using the one that isn't also. I will try next time to use Add Speaker for ARC if it does not need the Optical also but i had tried allsorts prior the combined method.
Hi all about home, wandering if you can upload a vid of how to set up a sound bar w/ subwoofer ,the unit is an LG SL9YG w/ meridian, don't know what that is, you think you can help, before il take it back to the store, thanks.
What about if you have other accessories? For example as in my case: TV, Receiver, Soundbar, Playstation Console, Headphones with base station (for gaming). How do you connect those various devices/equipment?
The confusion I always have with ARC is not how it got connected. For example on the TV HDMI1 is ARC, HDMI2 (connected to Apple TV 4K), and HDMI3 (connected to a PS4). If I connect HDMI1 (ARC) to the soundbar, will the soundbar work if I switch to HDMI2 or HDMI3 when I want to use the other devices?
I have same set up beam thru arc on TV sounds great my question is if I buy a Sonos sub and add it will I still be able to hear it thru the beam arc or will it only work only thru the Sonos app I like that I can use my TV remote for valume using thru arc just curious if I connect a sub oviously connect ing thru app will it all work togather with arc set up thru tv
So what's the HDMI Out option which some soundbars have? Am hoping it's to connect a Roku Ultra or 4K Fire Stick, as my TV has only two HDMI inputs & one is for ARC. It would be great if that output works with ARC to return to the TV, if not, don't know what it's for. Unless possibly stereo receiver, however many would want better sound than what many of the bars offers. Especially those under the $200 range.
Question: I just received a Yamaha soundbar and a SHU sub... I tried hooking it up to my bedroom TV (Sony A9S Oled 48"), The light's are on on the Sub, I have the sub connected to the Soundbar but there's no sound from the sub. The soundbar plays but not the sub. Suggestions? Thank you Joe
This is good: But where do we connect the source of video? i.e suppose I play content from Netflix/Prime Video/Hotstar on my TV via internet ( smart tv) will that auto - detect the soundbard/use it? I think you either need a HDMI spliiter from your video /blueray source connected via a multiplier/splitter to 1 ) the TV HDMI input (2) to the soundbar or it will not be able to send audio down to the soundbar.. please help me understand this. i.e I have a set top box ( cable HD) , a wifi net connection used by my smart TV to play online content: will setting up CEC on and setting TV spekers off, dolby digital out to PCM/ ON help do this? But my VU TV - it does have CEC control on /off, ARC yes - BUT NO PCM!! only dolby digital and DDP?
You need ARC if using a DVD/BLUERAY Player to go thru the TV to Soundbar due to perhaps Optical Cable does not allow this??? I'd like to know thanks... I see you mention it allows SURROUND Thu-put but it allows Stereo from other devices to pass thru?
you can use the standard HDMI cable for this ARC right? or is there a special HDMI ARC cable? my HDMI cable isn't working for my TV and home theater that support HDMI ARC. hmmm
So where does the video signal enter the system from? does it need to go to a different HDMI input on the TV? does the Soundbar have the HDMI input port? Does using ARC "use up" 2 of your HDMI ports on the tv?
IF for example you have a TV Firestick, you can plug that into a HDMI slot on your TV (NOT the HDMI marked ARC). Better yet, you can plug your Firestick directly into the soundbar IF your soundbar has a HDMI input slot (NOT an output slot). By plugging it directly into the soundbar, you will probably avoid any lip syncing delay problems. So you use one HDMI on your TV to plug into HDMI (ARC) and you can use another HDMI on your TV to plug in your firestick or something else for the video. (I am not a newbie on this, but I do believe this to be accurate based on what I have seen on one of the other great videos he has made) Just moving it forward to whoever might need help on your question.

I get how to connect the soundbar by this demo but how does the TV get the audio from the cable box on a separate HDMI port through the TV to the ARC port.?
Hey got a question I got a 5.1ch soundbar and it's hooked up by HDMI ARC and I was wondering if I could hook up another soundbar using a HDMI splitter so I can plug it in the HDMI ARC spot and then plug both the soundbars in the 2 HDMI inputs on the splitter cable. Would this work?
