Yep - I was plugging in to ARC HDMI1 which doesn't work! As you point out, HDMI2 SRC in thios case does - thanks :)
Set mine up in 2 minutes thanks to this video! Huge thumbs up
Omg. I just want to say, after two days of struggling to connect my HDMI ARC cable from the sound bar to the tv, I got to 1:53 and saw I could connect my Xbox to the sound bar… so I tried hooking up the optical while the hdmi arc was still connected to the tv, and BAM IT WORKED! I don’t seem to even need the hdmi arc connected to the tv at all anyways?! Soooo, thank you. You made my family soooo happy!!!!
Thanks dear that was so helpful 👍
I spent 3 hours trying to connect my Sony soundbar to my tv following the manual.Watched these instructions & hooked it up right away! Thank you.It was one cord that I didn't need that the manual said I did ,smh.
So will that work the exact same way with the Sony vw285es projector and the Sony st5000 soundbar using a fiber HDMI cable
Awesome --> worked like a charm :) thanks so much!
Thank you so much! This video helped me MUCH better than the customer service received from the actual TV company!
10/10
Thank you thank you thank you
I'M USING A PC DOES IT WORK ON PC AND HOW TO CONNECT?
do we need to choose same brand TV and Soundbar to manage the Soundbar by the TV's remote controller?
Thanks for the great tips
How can I connect it to my laptop?
just bought a new LG 4k tv 49UJ6500 and Vizio SB3821-C6 sound bar. so which is best optical or HDMI 2.0b cable
Hi I was all set up for 2 months then it stopped working - this seems to be a regular problem for quite a few people, what should I do to stop it continually happening? I have both Samsung TV and soundbar
I'm working on setting up a projector to a 4th gen Apple TV and soundbar. The Soundbar has an HDMI out (doesn't indicated ARC). Can I do all this with just HDMI cables? Will I need an HDMI splitter?
Love my RSB-11 soundbar, but it recently stopped working with the remote. So I can’t control any of the Klipsch remote functions to it. I even had it programmed to where the Directv remote was able to control the volume, but that stopped working too. I did a “reset” on the soundbar and it reset the subwoofer volume, but didn’t fix the issue. Now I can’t increase the Klipsch subwoofer volume to get that awesome “bass” sound because the remote functions still don’t work. Any ideas, suggestions or recommendations? Please help! It’s driving me nuts!
I have the same Samsung that you're showing this video on however I want to do it Wireless and I can't seem to do it Wireless with my monster Wireless theater sound bar can you help me
So what if I want to connect it to my projector? Since that doesn’t have a ARC
If my TV doesn't have arc can I still use a hdmi connection or do I need to get optical
Thank you so much
Hi
I have a Philips smart tv and a LG sound bar. Tv has HDMI arc and sound bar have HDMI IN and HDMI out ports. I tried connecting but thrs no sound. Could you pls tell me the connection process and the settings i need to follow on Tv
Hey.. first up, thanks for the video... Secondly, I have got a question.. MT TV has got HDMI ARC IN and Optical cable slot, but my sound system has neither. It supports RCA cables or and AUX 3.5 cable. Is there a way that I could connect these speakers with my TV ? I have ordered for a HDMI ARC Cable and an ARC to Aux out converter. Will it work ?
Can I use a Samsung tv remote to setup my sound bar using hdmi
My tv supports DTS audio output while sound bar supports dolby digital not dts so if play something with dts audio from tv will soundbar work?

Hello, i just purchased a vizio soundbar and would like some help connecting all of my audio coming out of my tv to go out through the soundbar. I have a vizio tv with 3 hdmi connections. I have a ps4, cable, and streaming box hooked up to the tv. Can i add an hdmi splitter or should i just hook up the otical cable from soundbar to tv? Thanks in advanced.
THANKS. I'm tech savvy but completely ignored the ARC instructions until this video.
what hdmi cable is suitable for the soundbar?
How many cables do you need to link up tv,bluray & soundbar? & which cable goes where? Thanks
can I use HDMI on my pc?
You had us at the power cord lol. We thought the HDMI cable provided power through the TV. Thanks so much.

I just got a Vizio sound bar "Model: SB3651-E6" and when it's turned off for the long period of time "like over night" the bass speaker and surround sound speakers don't come on when the sound bar it turned back on and I have to pair it back to the main sound bar. This is quite annoying!!! is this normal?
What if you have an HDMI Switch involved? I have Samsung TV/Soundbar with Comcast, Apple TV and Amazon Firestick (for Amazon Prime Content since apple tv doesn't offer it)... Im having a stupid difficult time with it connecting to a device im not watching. How about a recommendation of a good HDMI Switcher for those of us who have more devices than HDMI ports and still want to be able to get to use the soundbar. Was curious what ARC was used for though, thanks for that
Hi TexasBulldog74. Here's a link to a couple switchers we carry. One has three inputs and the other has five. Both has a single output: www.abt.com/resources/pages/search.php?keywords=wyre+storm+switcher Thanks for watching! -Carl
Hi i connected my jbl 2.1 soundbar and sony bravia tv.. soundbar display says hdmi arc connected and tv displays audio system active .. but no audio output. Can you help me out please. And thanks in advance

My tv doesn’t have a speaker list because it’s awkward what do I do?

How to connect soundbar whit tv if i put in in hdmi (arc) port cable reciver, i got second port hdmi but only one hdmi can work at once! I got optickal toslink port but i want thru arc hdmi....
I have a Comcast Xfinity X1 cable box ----> Vizio 5.1 sound Bar --- > TV . When I go tot bed at night, I power down the TV and soundbar. During the night when I am sleeping, Comcast sends daily updates to the cable box, which in return sends a signal to the soundbar, which automatically powers on the soundbar and starts sending TV audio to the soundbar , and the TV is still powered off. Is there a way to stop sending audio to the soundbar from Comcast Xfinity cable box during the middle of the night ?
Hi I have LgSH3K sound bar and element ELDFW407 TV..I guess this new sound bar doesnt have any HDMI port (has only Optical) and my TV doesnt have an optical port (only HDMI) . Anyway I could connect the sound bar to my TV?
Wait if I need to be on sure HDMI the sound bar is on then I can't use other HDMI?
So if I connect to ARC everything connected to the tv will automatically work?
No exactly I was doing everything exactly correct but my tv has 2 audio menus. One is a side bar like quick settings. I had to go to main menu and then audio then I to turn on the external speaker option
THANK YOU FIXED MY Surroundsound!!!👍
I can connect my Q90 R TV to my HTS-H5500 with HDMI, but for sound the TV always searches optical output. I believe the optical jack on HTS is broken. So is there any way To get sound via HDMI?
I have an Aukey HDMI Splitter connected to a Projector, neither of which support ARC. If I wanted to introduce a sound bar, or a 5.1 Surround system, what's the best way to get started?
Hi Christopher. You mention there's a splitter hooked up. Is that sending video to two different sources or did you mean an HDMI switcher? If it's a switcher that allows you to select from multiple HDMI sources to go to the projector then you'd want to make sure the soundbar you select has enough HDMI inputs to accommodate all your sources. Typically receivers have at least 3 HDMI inputs, but it's harder to find that on a soundbar. Either one would take the place of the switcher. As for which one to choose, it depends on what kind of experience you want. The soundbar is easy to set up, but doesn't generally provide as good a soundstage. A good 5.1 system would be much more immersive, but can cost quite a bit more in some cases. I hope this helps. Make sure to check them all out at www.abt.com Thanks for watching! -Carl
hi, just a question: if i have multiple hdmi sources (say a bd player, ps4, xbox ecc..) should i connect all of them via hdmi to the receiver, and the only cable going to the tv is supposed to be the ARC one? am i correct? and if so, how can i switch video input? they should go on one single hdmi source on the tv?
I’m shopping for a new sound bar, my tv supports ARC. When searching for sound bars online, will the near fact it has a HDMI Input and output mean that it supports ARC? Some sites don’t mention “ARC” but I assume by having HDMI out port that means it’s essentially ARC, correct? Orrrr am I an idiot? Haha
how to connect jbl bar 5.1 soundbar to smart sinotec tv that doesnt have optical
Hi, if my tv has eARC can I use that to ARC on my sound bar? then could I possibly connect my hi-fi to my tv using aux/headphone ?
thank you so you made it very easy to connect both!!
My Samsung tv isn’t sending any audio to my pioneer av receiver via hdmi arc. Any idea what to do? Help!
I have a 2011 50" LG Plasma with HDMI (not Arc) and an Apple TV (4th Gen). Should I hook the Apple TV to the soundbar HDMI then soundbar to my TV?
Hi 77dris. Yes, that would be a good way of setting them up. You can still hook the Apple TV up to the TV first and then run an optical audio cable back to the soundbar if you wanted, but the HDMI route would be an easier setup I think. Thanks for watching! -Carl
I have 4 components - DVR, AppleTV, BluRay, NintedoSwitch. TV has 4 HDMI ports and Soundbar has 2 HDMI ports. If I use an HDMI ARCfor the soundbar, can I use the HDMI ports on BOTH the TV and the Soundbar to connect the 4 devices?
I have a 2015 RCA TV ,42" it came with a ROKU stick built in the back. Anyway I just bought an RCA SOUNDBAR , I tried connecting with RED/WHITE Audio plugs from soundbar, and plugging into the Red/white In the back of the TV , NO GO, NO sound nothing. The Tv does not have the Digital audio plug option.
I end up trying my DIRECTV box with the Audio red/white Plugs and sounds comes through fine.
My issue though is Since I use a FIRESTICK a lot When I change the input to FIRESTICK to use The sound from that wont come through the soundbar.
I even turned the bluetooth on at the soundbar, then bluetooth on my cell phone, But on my phone it gave me no option to choose the soundbar to connect and push music through(I was just testing that)
What Could be the issue?
I think I am going to buy the Red/white audio plugs on 1 end and a Headphone jack plug on other end, connect it to the TV that way.
bEFORE I bought this sound bar I was using a High quality set of computer speakers on the TV, And had to Plug into the Headphone jack on the TV to output sound through them. Which worked great for everything.
Like I said ATM I am only getting my DirecTV Box audio.
Do U have any idea what could be the issue connecting direct to the TV? It works fine as said with Direc Tv box.
Any info would be great.. Thanks.
Amazing tutorial. I’ve been trying for months to find someone who could explain this. It’s embarrassingly simple haha so thank you for explaining.
I've got a TCL P605 and a Yamaha Yas-207, I connected them via HDMI arc just like you said. But I can't seem to get the sound to switch from the TV to the sound bar. I tried going to the input the sound bar was on but I still got nothing. It's just still all coming out of the TV instead.
Hi Mark. You may need to turn on the HDMI control function on the soundbar if you haven't already. The instructions for that process are on page 34 of the instruction manual. Here is a link in case you need it: content.abt.com/documents/78974/YAS207BL-user.pdf Hopefully this takes care of it for you. Thanks for watching! -Carl
All my HDMI ports are filled on my Samsung One Connect Box but it has optical as does my new soundbar. Will I be able to default the audio from the optical connection to all my HDMI’s or will I have to manually change it in settings every time I switch from say HDMI2 to HDMI4?
Teengenerate77 yes you will be able to default to the optical.
Is there a way to get sound from laptop to soundbar with out a tv. My soundbar doesn't have a 3.5mm Jack to plug into the laptop only an HDMI. Couldn't find an app for that.😒
So can I hook up my fire tv into the hdmi on my sound bar? And I will see that on my tv?
Once all set up, any sound from tv will come through your sound bar
I have the issue where the tv turns on but the sound bar and Bluetooth subwoofer will still be off even after tv is on
If I use arc cable connect to the tv to soundbar and then connect my ps4 pro to the tv hdmi will I get the Dolby atmos or I have too connect the ps4 pro to the soundbar hdmi so soundbar arc to tv and the hdmi 1 to ps4 pro?
I'm pretty sure ps4pro doesnt support dolby atmos xbox one x does. but yeah I was wondering if I had to connect xbox one x to soundbar or if it's ok to connect to tv to still get dolby atmos
My ONN had weird settings, but thanks for the help!
Thank you! Somehow I found that one skinny HDMI cable would not work for ARCing. Got a thicker HDMI cable and suddenly it worked!
Do you think that because of a cable there might be issues?
What is the best for better sound hdmi or optical.?
Latest HDMI's will accept, and put forth more advanced levels of audio.
First let me say I know nothing about this stuff. But I have dish as my cable provider. The dish remote currently operates the channels and volume on my television. If I add a soundbar, will my dish remote continue to operate the volume or will I have to use one remote for volume and one for channels? I hope you can help me with this.Thanks.
I have HDMI connections on my new LG tv...but none say they are for audio. Will they still work for a soundbar using an HDMI connection? thanks!
StaticJolts look for the letters ARC. On one of the HDMI out connections on your tv
So this all worked but when using the hdmi cord to connect my sound bar it doesn’t have any audio, my tv even recognizes that it is hook up but no sound. When I plug in the aux it works so I am not quite sure why this is happening if anyone can help please reply.
Have you found any solition?
Make sure it's plugged into arc
Is synch an issue? I go nuts with even the slightest lack of synch
Hi friend unable to get overseas program only local channel, pls advise
My tv has hdmi and optical outlets but my sound bar only has optical and analog I don't have a optical cable is there a way to hook up without or do i have to have one
Hi Stephanie. If your TV doesn't have an analog output then you'll have to use an optical cable. It's a better signal than analog anyways, so that's not a bad thing, but you'll need to invest in an optical cable if you don't already have one. Make sure to double check the accessories that came with your soundbar as a lot of manufacturers provide an optical cable with the speaker. We also carry them if you need: www.abt.com/product/103442/AudioQuest-Pearl-Series-0.75-Meter-2.5-Feet-Digital-Optical-Cable-OPTPEARLPOINT75M.html This would work well if your speaker is right under the TV. Thanks for watching! -Carl
What are the best sound bars for a 4k tv people?
4K compatible soundbars.
What happens if don't have a soundbar or a TV
Have you tried turning it off and on again ?
If that doesn’t work unplug both from wall for a couple mins and plug back in
just do PEMDAS
Ppp your fucked go and buy one
Ppp ya declare bankruptcy
And when I do this and I still have no audio then what?
Thanks for the video. One thing always bugged me. If you are connecting a soundbar to a TV, it means you want to listen to TV audio through soundbar and NOT soundbar audio through TV speaker. If that is the case, shouldn't the TV have HDMI ARC Out and soundbar have HDMI ARC IN considering you are basically outputting TV audio and inputting it to soundbar? But all soundbars have only HDMI ARC Out. Why is that?
Hi Naveen Naushad. The ARC is on the output of the soundbar so you can plug a source into the soundbar's HDMI input. It makes it so that you aren't losing an HDMI input on the TV when you use one for your soundbar. The audio of the source you have plugged into the soundbar's input will come straight out of the soundbar, but the audio from anything plugged directly into the TV will come back to the soundbar through the ARC. I hope this helps.
Thanks for watching!

@@abtelectronics Perfect. Thank you.
I recently bought a LG Ultragear monitor and I have no clue how to connect a soundbar or even speakers too it please send help
My tv have an hdmi (ovi) port and the 2nd hdmi isn’t labelled ? I don’t have the manual now I’m confused help out
hi just wanted to ask I've got a Samsung amp but I think it has pass-thru cause arc works via Hisense tv to switch on ps 3 if the amp is on, but doesn't switch on amp??? and if I purchase a soundbar will it also work thru amps pass thru?
just in case you ask it has an extra HDMI slot available if I plug the soundbar directly to the amplifier
After struggling with the HDMI cord from sound bar to TV didn't work. On this video it said it would connect to DVR (cable) to sound bar and sound bar to TV. Our TV had 2 HDMI connections but only one would work. Thanks for the help and we didn't have to call one of our kids :)
This helps me thanks 🙏🏽
Thank you
Arc to arc worked, thanks!
Hey flawlessvic! That's great to hear. Glad we could help. Thanks for watching!
Are the inbuilt speakers in the tv still audible when using a soundbar ??
Hi gerry macpherson. It depends on the TV, but a lot of them allow you to use the TV speakers with the soundbar. It doesn't always sound great doing that though. But Samsung, for example, has a technology called Q-Symphony on some of their TVs and soundbars that is designed to specifically use everything together. If you need more help please feel free to contact our experts at 1-800-860-3736. Thanks for watching!
My Sony soundbar has an HDMI input but when I hit Input HDMI never appears, please help me
Hi Vincent Van Gamer. It's hard to say what might be causing the problem. The first thing is to make sure you have something plugged into the HDMI input on the soundbar. Some won't read the input if there's nothing plugged in. If you have a component plugged in and turned on and it's still not reading then it could be a number of things. Possibly a problem with the HDMI cable you're using or a problem with the HDMI output on the source or even a problem with the soundbar's input. If you purchased it from Abt and it's less than 1 year old it should still be under warranty and we service the products we sell right here at the store. I hope this helps and thanks for watching! -Carl
Good afternoon Abt. I have an RCA RLDEDV3255-A-E LED TV/DVD Combo and have purchased a LG SN7R Soundbar. Firstly, I can’t see where on my TV that I might choose “External Speakers”. The TV is older but does have 3 regular HDMI ports. It does not have an Optic port. I hooked the HDMI to the TV and to the HDMI Input on the soundbar but can’t seem to get to work. I’m sure it’s just a setting but I’ve downloaded and read all of the manuals and still can’t seem to get the Soundbar to work. Just wondering if you can provide some guidance as I’m getting frustrated.
UN70NU6070FXZA is my Tv samsung 70 I tried to connect via ARC to ARC to my sound bar but it doesnt work no sound, the sound bar says TV speaker but no sounds comes throw
Soundbar are limited if you want to add xbox, forestick, ps5 to password thru the soundbar, as it does not have multi HDMI inputs?
TV does not have: optical or HDMI (ARC)
TV has: 3 HDMI ports and AUX
Sound Bar has: 1 HDMI and 1 HDMI (ARC)
I would like to connect my TV, XBOX, and Blue Ray to the sound bar through HDMI, so would an HDMI extractor be a good option?
Thanks!
Hi C Johnson. It sounds like you might need an HDMI switcher that has a few inputs. You can plug in your XBOX, Blue Ray player and Cable Box into that first and from there run an HDMI to your soundbar. Then an HDMI from your soundbar to your TV. If your TV doesn't have an optical output or an HDMI ARC there won't be any way for you to get sound from the TV to the soundbar. You'll have to go from the soundbar to the TV. I hope this helps and thanks for watching! -Carl
For boat sound bar there is no input output ports only single hdmi port is present what to do then
I need a soundbar please help hw mch is it reply
here is reply: soundbar cost $597.23 or it cost $89.01 maybe more, or maybe less.
can we actually connect the soundbar to tv via Bluetooth?
I have, but the sound is poor, no bass
I have my optical cable and a hdmi cable running from the sound bar to my tv but nothing is coming from the bar. It has played up to this point and I'm currently watching movies from a firestick. What could my issue be?
Hi Darnell. If it was working before and suddenly stopped there could be a problem in a few different spots. Do you have any other equipment you can test the cables on? You'll also want to make sure the audio on the TV is set to output to an external speaker. It's possible that may have gotten changed somehow. Good luck and thank you for watching! -Carl
Thank you for your time!!!
Not sure why mine isn’t working. Brand new TCL tv and brand new klipsch sound bar. Digital optical works. But not hdmi.
thank you
Thank you Sir
My soundbar says hdmi out (tv) is that one correct?
Why do you assume that all TVs have ARC? How does one connect a HDMI ARC enabled Soundbar to a TV that only has normal HDMI? Assuming that one does not want to use the available 3.5 mm headphone jack/aux cable as that will not give 5.1/3.1 sound?
You will need to use an optical lead from soundbar to tv.
NEED HELP! When mine gets plugged in HDMI ARC it pops up as RECEIVER HDMI and then quickly changes over to AV Soundbar. I had it under RECEIVER HDMI last night and it performed perfectly with Dolby digital on all devices. When it stays as AV it's horrible....and won't perform with Dolby digital on everything. Any help?
