Congrats on turning your life around. You had a good parole officer to let you act on your goals. My son made a stupid mistake and went to jail and upon his release his parole officer did everything he could to put him back in jail. I did research on this piece of shit and found out he had other complaints and charges against him. We took him to court and that was the end of his harassment. It’s sad that the system makes it almost impossible to succeed after serving time. Today he heads a production company and is doing well.
Big disclosure for kids watching. This is generational wealth, not surfing. No offense to Zeke, he seems like a good dude. But it's something that young kids don't get when watching this propaganda. Do some research on the family name and you'll get a bigger picture. Easy to say all that from a 20mil house overlooking La Jolla. Not easy for a kid in the slums throwing it all away for a sticker on a board. Get educated kids.

I was doing legit airs including slob grabs lean grabs and varials in 1988. Guys like tim fritz were doing airs in the early 80s and bird mahelona was doing airs in the 70s even before skaters were.
Funny he says that spot is too dangerous with 10 people but then has no issue paddling out at Pipe when he goes to Hawaii and there are 100 people out packed into a small area...

You are looking at progression all wrong. Progression in surfing is not about "tricks" like skating. People have pushed further and further into bigger, heavier waves. Deeper barrels, more powerful flowing turns. We dont have to follow any other "sport" by inventing gimmicky gay looking tricks. As if progression can be measured by the number of spins or board flips! Furthermore i think surfing is a poor fit as an olympic sport for this very reason.
