I don't know how they survive all those massive waves just drilling them over and over. That last one was massive and HEAVY. Man that looks brutal. The shape they must be in. . . . Insane
Love seeing how stoked you are for this time of year! It also makes me understand the hardcore workouts you put yrself through for moments like that. Great job. thanks Koa and Jack!
My favorite board for a long time was an old G&S 7'10" - so, kind of a mid board. That thing was freakin' heavy, though. It was probably 2" thick, and baby, it hurt when I'd get tumbled. It was also a single skeg, from before they started going to 2 and 3 fins. That thing would take a beating though. I probably spent almost as much time with Solarez as I did with Killer Bees Wax. I liked the smell, what can I say? I gave all my boards to my sister when I moved out of So Cal. Still miss it, but closing in on 70, with a couple of gnarly motorcycle accidents under my belt (the last about a month after I turned 65), kind of slows a guy down a bit. Rock on.
my homie and i were laughing so hard at that double up monster landing right on your head. glad you and the board made it out in one piece. we're stoked to see more pipe clips this winter
@@TwoFingerSaloute Lol ... Yes! They are even more intimidating in person but so fun to watch the professionals out there, as they make it look so easy!
@@jaybleu6169 ya I’m somewhat familiar with the feeling. Spent a couple of months in Puerto Escondido and there was a week of good 15-20’ days. Was staying right across the street from their Pipeline and it was LOUD. Video gives the impression that the real Pipeline is within shouting distance to those surfing.
@@TwoFingerSaloute Yeah, if not for the noise of the waves, they could probably hear you at that distance. I'm pretty sure the paddle out at Waikiki is longer (though much less dangerous).
I just got caught in a 3-wave impact zone beat down over the weekend when it was double-overhead, and that felt like a nightmare. I can’t even imagine how terrifying triple that size would be. Plus knowing a sharp reef is beneath you? Damn dude.
On the slo mo of the 40' wave at the 14:15 mark, it looked like a smaller wave rose up right in front of the big wave as it was breaking. Koa got crunched by 2 waves at once.
Bruh… you always start videos hungover. 😂😂😂 And end with the the biggest stoked smiles. Shoulda took mom up on that one way ticket to Hawaii 30 years ago. 🤙🏼
Absolutely sending it!! Big respect to you surfers. You guys are the craziest SOB ‘s around. Huge respect to you. I come from a motocross background and people think we are nuts but they have no clue… You are truly nuts!👏👏
The worst is you get held down, come up, thinking you'll get air, instead drink a bunch of water and get held down again by the next wave, that's when you can only pray.
Awesome footage and edit, once again Koa! The next breadstick model needs to be named 'Wonder" ......eh?! The Wonder Breadstick - Sponsored by North Shores most popular bread and breadstick maker: Pyzel & Wonder Bread *assuming you even have that kind of bread over there....
That backwash beatdown with live commentary was one of the gnarliest things i've seen 9:31 triple beatdown. Must of looked like a mountain from Koa's view
Insane wrong place wrong time! Your generation has been bred to endure what we never imagined in the 60’s! Gorgeous shots … NS so beautiful … miss it except for the crowds.
Another epic vid. The only disappointing part---no paddle out! Yes, I am hooked on the epic paddle outs. 😄 That crowd looked a little small, early winter? Was that mostly the local crowd? Just curious.
Koa's insane that impact zone scene was for the ages. So much respect for the watermanship these guys have.
it was so brutal getting caught right there haha
Mad respect koa, getting caught inside like that would send most to the hospital.
You r a true warrior!
Thanks legend that's why we train so hard is for days like this

thank you for showing the paddle at 8:30! helps us visualize a bit better how intense and competitive it is out there.
no problem! stoked you liked it!

That sandbar wave was terrifying! Uhm, I’m glad you lived, that was gnarly. Thanks for sharing.
It was so bad haha
The colour grading on the surfing parts of the video are just awesome!!!
Thank you Koa. Grateful.
That first barrel, man you were so deep, I didn't think you were coming out! 👍
So gnarly Koa! Go glad you are OK. Stay safe. Huge props for the dangers you face out there.
Good to see you caught a few nice ones...the rest of the session looked like an absolute beat down. That place sure makes one earn it.
It was a giant beat down of a session

Epic tales from the proving grounds.....🙌👍🙏🤙 Mahalo Koa

Great vid, that inside wave on the head was nasty surprised your board made it out in one piece.
Brah me too!
GOD that wave who was hitting by backwash its huuuge. I dont know how you keep confidence at this conditions. You rules.
wondering who got the middle finger from him at 14:42 haha
Worked! Dammit man! I gave you up for dead on that one at around 7:45, but you blasted out with the spit! Mad respect for you guys!!
Strong start to the winter, Koa explaining to his “following” that 6’6 refers to board size and that sitch stands for situation is comedy gold 😂
Way to Koa! Lookin sick bro! Love ya and thx for putting out wicked vids💯💯🌍🌍
Hey old friend……have a good walk 🎉
The first wave looked pretty epic to me.
Too bad it can't be used for wave of the winter. He was soo pitted
It really was!
We were there on Saturday and it was so awesome to see in person! Saw Eli Olson on the beach too. Love your videos.... Aloha.

it was the back wash that hit it and made it stand up like that
Props to whoever made that board…how it survived that nuke that landed directly on top of it deifies newtonian physics.
The chillest music for the worst destruction! 🤣
The random Peter King interviews make me happy 😃
Great video! A lot of very different and unique POV's not seen in other surfing videos.
Love the paint job and that looked freaken scary !!!

Need to get a board made with “this is livin” inscribed on the rails. Nothing too gaudy though…that sandbar wave was beastly
"2 inches makes a big difference "...😂 That's what she said🎉❤
Holy moley, smoked! Can't believe you popped up so quick after that mutant sandbar double-up tho. Rogue sets, extreme
always loved my 6'8" Maurice Cole back in the day
I got a killer screen grab of that doubled up wave with you caught inside. Centerfold quality
So fun to watch. The backing track is great, too. Any idea who that is playing?

Koa, how deep is the water when you are in the impact zone around 9:45?

Sandbar wave looked like the ocean was folding over onto itself 🌊
It was crazy!
Could you consider doing areal shots like at the very end and explaining positioning pending the different swell sizes, relatively speaking of course.
If it doesn't get better I'm just gonna start drinking beers...😆story of my life 😁🍻
I wanna know who the old friend is that Koa was stoked to see lol
