I love Janis Joplin. In 1976 I was in junior high, and did a book report on Janis. My English teacher, Mrs Fenton gave me a "D for poor subject matter." My mother defended me and went nuts on Ms. Fenton. Janis moves people.
Eric Fredrickson Some times ya need to call in the true critics in so good for ya!! Me and my friends in Jr high art class all got Ds it was me my Native American friend and i'm part Native and my girlfriend was Black and ooo she'd give us the evil eye sometimes, so's we did our project which was goin' to count as a quarter of our yr grade, so we went to councilor and asked if they could get us a second opinion, and they got art critics in, they gave us all A's we new we did our best 👍
I dont think she ever really knew just how amazing and rare her talent was. I think she would be blown away to come back today and find herself spreading joy and happiness around the world via the internet. Janis Forever.........................................
I agree. She never appreciated just how damn good she was because her Childhood Demons wouldn't let her live Life as a normal person. I was only 7 yrs old when she passed. Wish I could go back and tell her how Special she is
After all those years, is there any woman here still wearing those clothes? I do. 51 years, wow. Will I still listen to Janis when I am 100? I am close to 80 now.
Janis was a force of nature. The incredible passion. God bless her and may she always be remembered for the incredible talent she brought to the music of the 60's.
I wish she could have stayed longer. She had a rough time growing up and it came out in her Adult voice. Those who came after, either Fans or Musicians, owe her an incredible Debt of Gratitude
Thanks to those who have given the World a chance to see what a great performer, singer and talent that Janis Joplin was by posting so many of her video's. I was lucky enough to see her in Concert in Jan.'70 I admired her free sprite and her amazing talent to bring the house down giving it her all to make sure you walked away knowing you had just seen something very special. When she passed away some eight months later I was just devastated. I'm 69 and still have a framed poster of Janis in my room. There have been many great singer's/artists over the years but Janis shook the World of music up like no one else could. Janis is a true Icon and Legend in the World of "Rock & Roll"!
i will always love janis joplin, when she was alive, and when she's no longer with us..she was a rare gem, there will never ever be another one like her..her voice was just awesome! R I P, j j...we love you!
thank god we live in times where almost anything is stored on harddrives. Concerts from back in the 60s? here you go! Rare versions of tracks? RUclips is here for you buddy!
Loved her music for decades, I will admittedly say I lost touch with how HUMAN she was. She was insecure, lost and so soft bellied. I apologize Ms Joplin, for no one so real, so fragile. could ever rock as hard as you
Watching this and comparing it to her live performance on the Dick Cavett show of the same song - it's clear she loved the audience and not the business. Respect to you, Janice. You let yourself do it, that interview, and sat there being disrespected and mocked. Much love - look at what you've left behind - more than accepted - loved and embraced by millions. Rock on in the great beyond and much love to your spirit.
@@Firefoxy-rz1nw It was fantastic. She was real. You must not have seen the one with Raquel Welch or the Cavet and Welch comments made about her and that interview during another video.
@@julietjowett9678 No, I didn't see that one. The one I saw was when she talked about being laughed out of Texas and intending to go back to her school reunion. I'll watch the Raquel Welch one.
@@Firefoxy-rz1nwYou know how it is with clips - you may have seen the DC show with Janice's discussions, and it cut before Raquel Welch came out. There's a really good and pretty short documentary on Janice Joplin. She went back to Texas expecting to be accepted after her miserable high school years. She wasn't treated any better despite her successes. She died alone. That makes sense to me.
She was one of a kind! This beautiful lady didn't know how beautiful she was. She was loved and adored, but I guess it was not how she wanted. She will always be the Queen of Rock!
Not so, our young Janis fan and friend. WE "get you" and in a big way, for, you see: You are us, and we are you ... people who believe in the peace, love and harmony Janis' era tried to convey. I was your age when Janis did this performance. We of Janis' generation reach warmly back to you across the generations and pass the torch to you. It's YOUR time now. Believe in yourself and your ideals. Peace & Joy.

I could listen to Janis all night, but I can't barely make it through one song on today's radio stations. Music is dead.

Janis c'est le groove instinctif qui fait frémir.
A maior cantora branca de blues da história. Insubstituível até hoje.
Completamente insubstituível. Assistindo esse vídeo pela primeira vez. Sou devota há mais de 5 décadas.
Her voice did go off in the chorus but hey, just proves she's singing live and is human! :) LOVE IT.
Actually she was a hoarsey. Janis Joplin s voice was naturally hoarse. Just the way her singing voice was.
Coolest chick in the world....😊
I miss her even though I was barely 1 year old when she died. Briliant and beautiful...
Ottis Redding was one of her favorite singers oct 2021

This is a song called Try
(Just a Little Bit Harder)
You know you'd better baby and you know you got to
Try, try, try just a little bit harder
So I can love, love, love him, I tell myself
Well, I'm gonna try, just a little bit harder
So I can't give, give, give, give him to nobody else.
Well, I've been waiting for such a long time
I ain't gonna lose myself
(No, I ain't gonna lose it)
I ain't gonna lose myself
To make him mine, all mine.
Yeah, I'm gonna try yeah, just a little bit harder
So I can give, give, give, give him every bit of my soul. (Hey!)
Yeah, I'm gonna try yeah, just a little bit harder
So I won't lose, lose, lose him to nobody, no.
Oh! Well, I don't care how long it's gonna take me
But if it's a dream I don't want
No, I don't really want it
If it's a dream I don't want
Nobody to wake me.
Hey, you better not do it! Yeah!
Try yeah, try oh yeah, hey, hey!
Try yeah,
Try yeah,
Try yeah.
Try
Oh daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy
Well, every time I reach out I said baby
I know, know, know I got to try some more.
I said I got to put my arms around you
I said, I said I got to hold my demand.
I said I got to make you understand
Whoa baby, I said I gotta bring you round
Bring you round to the insight of me.
I said try, try, yeah, try, try, try, try.
Whoa try, oh yeah, try oh yeah, hey hey!
Try, oh yeah, try, oh yeah, hey hey!
I gotta talk to my man now,
You know, I gotta work for my man now,
I said, I gotta feel for my man now,
You know I, I gotta work for my man now,
I think-a every day for my man now,
I think-a every day for my man now,
You know it, every way for my baby now.
Oh, try, oh yeah, oh try yeah,
Try yeah, try yeah, hey, hey,
Try, oh yeah, try ah yeah,
Try just a little bit
