Dennis Peters, lean into your screen so I can touch my screen next to yours. You saw my Janis. One of my profs saw her perform at Threadgill's. Magic. How can such a powerhouse of talent be dead? The voice that surges through my earphones and crescendos inside my brain is part of some indestructible force. Janis surely must be around, just out of reach-- and I keep searching for something that will slyly evince her presence. I have read the bios, many more than once, and I often have this crazy thought that maybe the end will be different this time. Then I feel goofy because I figure Janis would probably get a good cackle out of a wish that's silly for anyone who isn't a little girl. But she wouldn't be unkind, I feel certain. Little girls, even grown up ones, don't forget.
There was a girl named Karise Eden, on the Voice Australia, who sand 'this is a man's world', and it was as if Janis had taken over her voice. It's worth a listen.
You are right. She had two performances. Big surprise for everyone. No one left after the first show. In the end people were on stage with the musicians. A real family reunion. Best concert(s) ever! Thank you, Janis!
Saw Janis Joplin in Kansas City on a Sunday afternoon at Memorial Hall in 1970 or 1969 she was with the Full Tilt Boogie Band and the opening act was Sea Train , ,I was only 12 or 13 years old and she was great, my friend Steve Sassmans mom took us and put cotton in her ears, I will never forget it, God Bless you Mrs Sassman for taking us ,RIP Janis
What an awesome performance! You should know that this was recorded after Janis and the band had already given a full concert -she then invited those of us fortunate enough to be present to stick around and get closer to the stage while the German TV crew filmed a few more songs- can you imagine the energy she was putting out with each song! May she rest in peace- dear soul sister!
Best song by Janis. The most intense , passionate voice I will have heard in my life time. Thanks for the emotions your voice brings out in me. Your sad life had a purpose, and that was to help us feel when we feel empty.
I'm mourning her loss. The more I watch and listen to her, the more I feel she is alive. And then I realize she is gone. I feel as if we just lost her. I deeply miss her.
You were Born in the right time is me or my momma guessing game goovie ahhh 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I will be able to do a concert by December 25 2025🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Tanto que pudo conseguir, tanto camino por recorrer, cuantos conciertos a acaparar, tantas cosas que tenis por realizar,. malditas drogas, ella será una grande janis la mejor blues 4'ver
@mizz77anna In spite of our disagreement , we CAN agree that she was ONE of a kind... a stage presence that COULDNT be matched with todays "stars" and sung the blue with feeling like no one else ever has and probably never will.....I happen to see her 3 months before she passed at a peace rally in Shea Stadium, NY and will NEVER EVER forget her performance....oh yea...she had the mic in one hand and a bottle of Jack Daniels in the other while she sang...lol
@mizz77anna ..well first of all I never said there was something "romantic " about her... All I am saying is that she "tried" to have her own vision which came from deep deep down inside of her. YES, she was screwed over professionally AND personally , but she fought to be her own person in spite of that. She didnt take drugs because she hated herself, she took them to ease the pain and hurt of her personal life..so I guess we could agree to disagree about her...lol... btw...I'm 56...lol
This is from a time when a singer could really sing and a musician could really play an instrument ..... Goddess!!!!
People did not know what they had with Janis Joplin. God, what a woman.
I was there that night. They did the concert twice. Once for us, and again for the cameras. It was amazing....

My God. She is awful. I know she was popular, but it's painful to listen to. I'm just here for the history. Can't take but so much.
