  • 55 Minute Yoga Nidra to Calm the Nervous System | Vagus Nerve Stimulation
Welcome and thank you for being here. Join Kristyn in this 55 minute yoga nidra or guided meditation to stimulate the vagus nerve and to calm the nervous system. The vagus nerve is the largest nerve matrix in the body that runs from the brainstem, down the sides of the neck and into the abdomen, wrapping around all of the vital organs.
Stimulating the vagus nerve can help relax the body, calm the mind, and activate the parasympathetic division of the nervous system, rest and digest. A healthy vagal tone can have so many wonderful benefits for the autonomic nervous system and mental health and well-being, including emotional regulation and a greater connection to Self.
This practice begins with some gentle breathing techniques and self massage to relax the physical body and prepare the body for the deep rest that comes in yoga nidra. Once you find stillness, simply rest back into the experience of deep listening as you are effortlessly guided into a deep state of light altered consciousness or deep wakeful sleep. Along the way, welcome in visualizations, techniques and tools to bathe the vagus nerve and the whole nervous system in healing awareness, releasing tension, and welcoming a deep sense of peace and calm within.
    Happy resting.
Find a comfortable place to rest on the back of the body, either on your yoga mat, the couch or even in your bed. Close down the eyes and rest back into the experience of just listening.

I am constantly stressed and on fight mode due to complex ptsd. Woke up after 1 hour sleep as usual all tence and stressed. Searched for relaxing videos and deep sleep music. Came across yours and now after 20 min I am relaxed. I can never relax fully and will use this over and over again. Your voice is so warm and soothing and I thank you from my wounded soul. This should be the medicine doctors prescript to us.

something you can choose to try if you want to, is two deep inhales through the nose and one long exhale from the mouth. This lowers the heart rate and helps to calm us in real time. It take me 30 seconds to start to notice it. And when I had a heart scan, I upset my doctor by making my heart bear longer when they were trying to get a good scan, but hey when would I ever get such an opportunity to test the "physiological sigh".

This particular session has been so helpful to me! From the vagus nerve focus, to the vocal quality, to the music, and the guidance, it's got everything just right. I've even used it to fall asleep. The problem is the even if I have the autoplay off, RUclips more than half the time plays some loud jarring sequence as the end of this which is unsettling and startling and cancels out the relaxation I've cultivated and wakes me up if I've gone to sleep. Could you put this on Insight Timer?

I work with many voices and vocalists that require my deep attention and intuitive work that if I am not careful, can overwork my central nervous system. Your offering really helped to bring my heart rate down and calm my overactive mind. You've helped me to serve better and be available for my students and I thank you deeply for your help and care. Thank you Kristyn.

I don’t really care what any particular person BELIEVES. You may believe that there is an old man with a white beard perched in the clouds, that Ultimate Reality is a young blackish-blue Indian guy, that the universe is eternal, that Mother Mary was a certifiable virgin, or that gross physical matter is the foundation of existence.
The ONLY thing that really matters is your meta-ethics, not your meta-physics. Do you consider any form of non-monarchical governance (such as democracy or socialism) to be beneficial? Do you unnecessarily destroy the lives of poor, innocent animals and gorge on their bloody carcasses? Do you believe homosexuality and transvestism are moral? Do you consider feminist ideology to be righteous? If so, then you are objectively immoral and your so-called “enlightened/awakened” state is immaterial, since it does not benefit society in any way.

Twenty years ago I had an open RNY gastric bypass that turned out to be botched, leaving me with a horrific case of pancreatitis followed by nine years of chronic pancreatitis. By the time the bypass was re-done, repairing the damage, my vagus nerve had been severed four times in the center of my abdomen. Now there is a great deal of scar tissue around the vagus nerve in that region. When the stress in my life reaches the boiling point, I get pain at the 9-10 level right where the incision was. The pain gets so bad it causes nausea. I’d really like to put an end to these attacks so I can have some semblance of a normal life. I’ll start trying this exercise in the evening before sleep, or maybe as I’m waking up in the morning, or both. I also add a magnesium supplement to my diluted apple juice as magnesium helps us manage stress better. It’s the one mineral the American diet is extremely deficient in…and it’s all by design to keep us stressed out. Thank Heaven for content creators like Kristyn Rose. 🙏💕🙏💞🙏💖

I couldn’t agree more! 🎉 And if you want to super-charge your affirmations, follow the advice in Claude Bristol’s classic, The Magic of Believing, something he calls the Mirror Technique. Looking yourself intently into your eyes in your reflection, repeat each affirmation three times. When I first learned this technique nearly 40 years ago, I modified it so that on the first recitation I looked deeply into my left eye, then into my right eye, then into both eyes. I somehow knew I was reaching a part of my brain I could not otherwise reach. One night I saw something reflected in the mirror as I was looking into my eyes that startled me and made me burst into tears. I ran for the phone in my room and called my mother. When she answered and heard me in tears, she wanted to know what was going on. I just sobbed out, "Mom, have my eyes always been this beautiful?" Relieved to learn I was basically OK, she responded, "Yes, Honey, your eyes have always been that beautiful! Now, what’s going on?" As near as I can figure out, I saw into my soul and it was too beautiful for my mortal eyes to linger on.

Being guided to massage specific spots made it feel like ASMR even though I was massaging myself. It felt so good and really helped me to get relaxed from the beginning instead of squirming around for the first 10mins like I normally do. And I loved the bumblebee breathing. That was a new one for me and it felt really calming and I felt the baby in my belly enjoyed it too.😅🤰 And I liked the idea of a raindrop touching each part of the body to relax it. I hope this practice was able to provide you with some peace and calm Michael, thank you so much for being here and taking care of yourself first. Trust your body and your inner wisdom and know that you can always come out of a Yoga Nidra as things can shift and release throughout.

    Namaste! 🙏 I practiced at 11 P.M.on Sept. 19, 2023.
Prior to this practice, I had woken up from a nap feeling bummed out and sad as I was cranky from the noise others were making and was upset about other stuff that will sort itself out as I simply focus on myself. The pace of this yoga nidra was slow enough for my mind to unwind and for my body to gradually let go of tension. I visualized cooling and healing rain drops falling on each body part, and that brought such inmense relief as I heard each drop make contact and melt. The waves of relaxation with the breath also felt cleansing. Resting as the vast sky and planting my Sankalpa everywhere started to help me feel better.
Even though, part of me feels like I need another yoga nidra to fully wash away perceived disappointments from not seeing those close to me physically and only having mini-squabbles with family members in the last few days, this yoga nidra helped me reconnect more fully with my inner experience. I feel so much better as the moments pass. It's as if heavy mud that was caked onto me is finally dissolving away.
Thank you so much, Kristyn! This was a gift akin to being given access to a cooling shower when I most needed it. I am going to see what other nidra you released recently and go from there.

    Dear Kristyn!
This is a masterpiece of meditation! Truly beautiful! May I ask if you create these texts yourself?
I had an up&down emotional day due to the neck pain and this meditation helped to gently untangle the tensions. I couldn't sleep, in fact I have woken up because my spine decided to unravel and move and I got up chilled and hungry! Very unusual experience. I have also seen a heart like white shape at my forehead. I take it that my energies have cleared?
Once again, big heart felt thanks and many blessings for the work that you do! ❤❤❤

Hi Elena, yes I write all of my own scripts which involves a lot of dedicated time, research and effort :) Did the experiences you speak of arise during your yoga nidra practice? If so I am so pleased to comment on them further. Trust that your body knows what to do for your body knows how to heal. Yoga nidra simply creates the time and space for the body to do what it was born to do. Thank you so much for being here. With love and gratitude.
