    Thanks for these helpful video's Bob. I'm about to get a 9mm in the Freedom Series but haven't decided which yet. I have the Reaction in 45 & it's terrific which inspired me to go with your brand again for the 9 I was already looking for. For now, just waiting on the supply to come up again. Very glad I came across Fusion, you guys are putting out a great product.

      Hi Joseph, thank you for the purchase and the super comments. Yes, the 9mm's are fun, cheaper to shoot and not much recoil. It depends on your application, for target, the Reaction, Long-Slide, Riptide or the Combat, for carry the combat, Riptide-C, the CCO or the Bantam. Lot's of choices...:)

    I've been on some Facebook groups asking suggestions for a 1911 9mm platform and what brand do I look into. There have only been just a couple people that had mentioned Fusion Firearms. I've never heard of it. Decided to check it out. You've got me sold. Even with not having my hands on one, I can say I'm sold on your Riptide 9mm 4.25 Commander. I found some reviews on it, plus your video review. There are so many attention to detail items to list. My only problem now is finding one for sale. Wish me luck!

      Not sure if you found one but, grabagun has a bunch of fusion 1911s, I'm not affiliated w them but, they've been great to me. Super fast shipping, low cost shipping, etc and their prices are generally lower than everyone else. I've gotten at least a case of 9mm a month for the past year and a half from them and the longest my orders took was 6 days. Hope this helps also if you've never ordered online call your local ffl and ask them if it's OK to have one sent to you, they'll fill you in on what to do, it's super easy.

    Bob...For the 1911 9mm do you prefer the faster lighter bullet say 115 Gr. or a heavier slower subsonic bullet say the 147 Gr.?

    • @fusionfirearms
      @fusionfirearms  4 года назад +4

      It really depends on the application. For defensive set-up, 95gr to 135gr, lots of great HPs out there right now. Love the Hornady line-up. for general target and recreational, 115 or 124's...

    More great info again in a furure vid could you touch on the obvious signs of feed lip issues you/us can spot with the mag inserted into a slideless frame if there is anything the average shmo can see ? Thanks for the time and great effort from your team !

    Bob can you please address the differences in slide stop for the 9mm & 40 S&W. Thanks

    • @fusionfirearms
      @fusionfirearms  Год назад

      Sir, they are the same. You only sometimes have to alter the slide stop, mag follower lug for additional bullet clearance if it is contacting the bullet nose. This can cause feeding issues at times. But, good Idea, we will do a short video on this to clarify.

    What about the mainspring weight? It plays a part in slide cycling too. I don't like a light mainspring because it seems to give light strikes depending on ammo and makes the trigger feel mushy instead of a solid break. With a 12lb recoil spring what is the heaviest mainspring weight recommended for reliable ignition?

    I was amazed that some very good 9mm magazines have a strange problem in that loaded 9 round Wilson , Kimber,Ed Brown with spacers on the back side. The mags load fine and shoot fine but, if you drop the mag after loading to top off all three magazines drop a round with the magazine. If you try it with 8 rounds it drops a round about 50% of the time 7 round and they hold. It did in a Kimber Dan Wesson and Springfield. Dan Wesson no spacer NEVER fails along with Mecgar. How's that for weird ? Feed lips were within 2/000 but the length of the feed lips is 1/3 shorter due to the spacer. Might want to take a look.

    I know there is tons of info out there regarding tuning and shaping the extractor for 45, but not much regarding the specifics on a 9mm. I hv a 9mm Colt govt model that runs fine , but throws brass to the face half of the time?? Internet searches say extractor tuning, ejector tuning, different springs, etc. Seems to be a very common issue, but no one can agree on or explain specifics on a solution??? Was wondering if you could point me in the right direction?

    • @fusionfirearms
      @fusionfirearms  4 года назад +1

      This is a great question. We will do a video on this one coming up. Generally, it is a combination of a few items, the Extractor and the Ejector, & sometimes recoil spring weight. But, generally the issue lies with the Extractor tuning and ejector. Mostly when I see this the 1) Extractor is too loose and needs tuning 2) the Nose of the ejector needs tuning at the nose angle a bit.

    What’s the poundage of your recoil spring on the Riptide series 9mm?

    How about a conversation barrel can it be possible to go from 45 to 9mm effectively without milling the 45 frame??

    • @fusionfirearms
      @fusionfirearms  3 года назад +1

      Yes, It is all in the tuning and you will need to change out the typical parts like the ejector, Slide stop...etc.

    the guy looks like double stack 1911.

  • @wehrewulf
    @wehrewulf 2 года назад

    I have never had a 9mm 1911 run right. FTF (poorly engineered magazines nose diving the round), and slide lock issues, FTE issues from stovepipes to extractor/ejector problems, and spring weight/slide mass issues.
    Why can't ANY company build a 9mm single stack magazine that works?

    • @fusionfirearms

      Well, check our Freedom series out, the Government, Combat Commander, Reaction 5-inch, bantam 3.5" & the Riptide Commander models are all available in 9mm.

      Because JMB designed the pistol around a specific cartridge and bullet profile. Everything we do "different" is something the pistol was not designed to do. It was designed to feed 230 grain hardball with a particular bullet ogive, and a specific powder charge.
      It was never supposed to shoot 9mm, or anything else. Nor hollowpoints. It's pretty amazing the modern 'smiths can work around all these "problems".

      Sometimes, yes it is the mag, but generally a bit of tuning will allow for any good quality mag.

      Fudd's are an insult! Are you aware that JMB originally designed the gun as a 9mm? Yep, The department of the Army had it changed. Now who is the gun God. JMB or the often full of it department of the Army?
