  • Join us for the next three ports of call on our Odyssey of the Seas Greek Isle Cruise! The overall theme of these days was definitely taking a step back in time to see three ancient historical sites, the ruins of some of the most famous cities in history. First up was Kusadasi, Turkey - where we traveled to the ancient city of Ephesus; followed by some shopping in the modern day markets. Next was visiting the port of Mykonos, Greece - where we took a shuttle boat to the ancient island of Delos; and then back to Mykonos for shopping and a delicious lunch. Last we have Naples, Italy - where we were got to visit the infamous Pompeii; followed by exploring the city of Naples with shopping, sightseeing, and eating some of the best pizza we've ever had.
    Our excursion to Ephesus was booked through Royal Caribbean at www.royalcarib.... Following the tour they dropped us off near the port, with the markets for shopping and dining within walking distance.

    The trip to Delos was not through an excursion, we went on our own and bought tickets for the water taxi from New Port to Old Port in Mykonos, and then bought tickets for the shuttle to the island on the Old Port dock for €22 each. Once we reached the island we purchased tickets from the main gate at Delos for €12 a person. Delos is a self-guided tour.

    The restaurant we ate at in Mykonos was called Pepper, and the dishes we ordered were the pork and chicken souvlaki and we highly recommend it.

    Our excursion to Pompeii was also booked directly through royal Caribbean at www.royalcarib....

    After being dropped back off at the port following the tour we then walked the city of Naples and explored on our own. We ate authentic pizza at Antica Trattoria e Pizzeria Da Peppino, followed by trying Naples’ famous pastry called Sfogliatella at a small pastry cart in the Galleria Umberto I, a shopping center in Naples.

    Booked this cruise in 2024 for our honeymoon so I’ve been following along with your videos. We took our first Royal caribbean cruise 2 years ago and the Bahamas was less than impressive. Your comment had my dying 😂 thanks so much for posting!

      I’m not the biggest fan of Nassau as you can tell, but don’t worry the ports on this greek isles cruise are a million times better than the Bahamas. 😀 y’all should have a blast.

      @@letsgetwanderlost it was totally on par with our cruise on The Odyssey, but less crowded. Great service! Loved the specialty restaurants! We would cruise on Rhapsody again for sure

    Thanks for the video. Same feelings about Nassau…lol. Question about the Mykonos port, since it’s not a tender can you get on and off the ship, is it easy enough? We plan to do snorkeling on our own there, and I was just wondering if it’s easy to get back on the boat change and then go explore the port.

    • @letsgetwanderlost
      @letsgetwanderlost  Год назад +3

      Yea, since it’s a regular dock you can just go down to the gangway and get off the ship, no tickets, no time frames, and you can get on and off the ship as you please. You’ll just have to clear security when getting back on the ship. You’ll definitely be able to get back on and change and then go explore the port.

  • @NicoleSpero

    In most of the ports (other than the tender) did you pull in forward? Just trying to decide which side of the boat may have better views, if its even matters...

    • @letsgetwanderlost
      @letsgetwanderlost  10 месяцев назад +1

      Santorini was a tender and both sides of the ship should have had decent views.
      Mykonos the starboard side would be facing the port and have the best view
      Ephesus - docked front of the ship facing the port, dock on starboard side; port side should have the better view since there’s normally a ship blocking the starboard view.
      Naples the ship backed into the port and the starboard side would be facing the dock so the port side and aft would have the better view
      So, I don’t think it would matter, we had aft facing and the only port we didn’t have a good view was Ephesus.

    Another great video!!! Was it hard knowing what time to reserve dinner each night? I heard that even with my time dining, you have to select dinner times before boarding. Trying to figure out if earlier dinner times are impractical

    • @letsgetwanderlost
      @letsgetwanderlost  Год назад

      We didn’t eat in the MDR for dinner on this trip, but we have on previous cruises. What we typically do is kinda assess what our plans are for that day and what time we think we’re gonna want to eat and then go into the app and book a time slot reservation for dinner in the MDR. You don’t have to book dinner times before boarding, you can, but it isn’t necessary. We usually do it the day of. We like the flexibility of planning our dinner around our day rather than planning our day around a specific timeslot.
      With my time you can also just show up during the times the MDR is open and get into the no reservation line and wait. Our wait has typically been between 10mins to 45 mins.

      @@letsgetwanderlost This totally makes sense. How late were you all eating, after getting back onboard from ports?

    • @letsgetwanderlost
      @letsgetwanderlost  Год назад

      This past trip we ate around 730-8pm every day after our ports for dinner except for Santorini where we ate around 10pm

      Perfect!!!!
      And then my last question lol, although I’m sure I’ll have more as you all share more videos… I am so bummed that the ifly experience is sold out on the app. Did they have any complimentary options for that?

    • @letsgetwanderlost
      @letsgetwanderlost  Год назад

      We didn’t look into iFly unfortunately, so I don’t have any answers regarding it. We spent so much time at the ports on port days and basically spent our sea days just recovering. Sorry I don’t have much information about that.
