I've been missing out on this one for years.. what a beautiful and mournful tune! Ashley and fiddle sure bears it out. Love that they all sing. RIP Nick.
I do believe it's time to leave My body to the ground Weeping willow over me Oh nothing else around Oh nothing else around Lord nothing else around Lay me down in Alabama With the pistol in my hand Remember me for who I am Oh not for what I done Oh not for what I done Lord not for what I done I do believe there's nothing left But a memory of a kiss When I breathe this final breath Oh your name's on my lips Oh your name's on my lips Lord your name's on my lips Oh wake me up in Paradise If that is where I am bound If I should head to someplace less Oh leave me to the ground Oh leave me to the ground Lord leave me to the ground Oh tie me to the hangin' tree On the Open range So I can feel the gentle breeze Oh and watch the clouds change Oh and watch the clouds change Lord and watch the clouds change I do believe it's time to leave

I believe Mr. Rideout is waiting for all of Lost Dog Street Band to Join Him when it's their time...He will have a nice fire going in a beautiful prarie with food and drink and all the instruments waiting, then the will all sing this when they are finally reunited!!! Well, that's my hope and paradise waiting for them!! Peace Everybody!
Please do, this album is something every Lost Dog fan needs to hear. The emotion in these songs is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. If you can post "the day I've had enough" that would be awesome
@@RabbiRabbit87 Nick was Benjamin Tod's best friend, as well he meant the world to Ben's wife, Ashley on the fiddle. The other woman in the photo is Shannon Jae, Nick's widow. You can hear her voice in this. You should watch her video on GemsonVHS called "it ain't right". Recorded about 7 years after Nicholas passed.
You can hear Shannon crying towards the end of the song. Really makes me emotional. Love that they put a secret song of nicks at the end too. RIP Nick you live on!
The 'It ain't right' video kills me, because it was around 7 years after his death that it was recorded, and it shows there's truly no closure when it comes to the subject of suicide. I don't condemn or scorn people that leave that way, but it sure does leave a hole in a lot of people's hearts.
@@aaronisacomedian It’s a sad and tragic way to go for sure. Lost an uncle to suicide and it really tore a hole in our family. The ‘it ain’t right’ music video truly does show how impactful suicide is on those closest to you. I feel so bad for Shannon and all of Nicks friends.
So freaking good I wish Benjamin would release all his music in one place. Spotify Apple or just a record. I love lost dog and Benjamin tod solo stuff but his younger stuff is also so good. We played this song at my brothers funeral
Never gets old, we do, the music will forever play on. When I die just who in the hell will charge my phone battery and make sure my volume boosting equalisers are still in fine working order ...... 😅
There’s a version of You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive by Darrell Scott.. it’s live and I think it’s the best version of you get a chance to check that out.

I do believe it's time to leave
My body to the ground
Weeping willow over me
Oh nothing else around
Oh nothing else around
Lord nothing else around
Lay me down in Alabama
With the pistol in my hand
Remember me for who I am
Oh not for what I done
Oh not for what I done
Lord not for what I done
I do believe there's nothing left
But a memory of a kiss
When I breathe this final breath
Oh your name's on my lips
Oh your name's on my lips
Lord your name's on my lips
Oh wake me up in Paradise
If that is where I am bound
If I should head to someplace less
Oh leave me to the ground
Oh leave me to the ground
Lord leave me to the ground
Oh tie me to the hangin' tree
On the Open range
So I can feel the gentle breeze
Oh and watch the clouds change
Oh and watch the clouds change
Lord and watch the clouds change
I do believe it's time to leave

best violin playing i get to hear. been listening closely since the early 70’s and few violinists have impressed me like this lady.
Well now that might just be one of the saddest song's I've ever heard. Too bad people don't like sad songs in three quarter time anymore.
I do …
Me too....
Me three
This gives me the same feeling as “To Lay Me Down” by Jerry Garcia. An emotional goodbye. Well written and well performed

isn't that also Nic's widow?

Shoulda had the dog do some backup whimpers.
Exactly. The dog is chained. Its a slave. To whimper is all it has left.

Ha. You aught'a quit. Backup whimpers might make a worm want'a wrestle a chicken.
