For those of you folks don't know Doc (I have seen at least 50 times) Billy does a phenomenal job of channeling Doc. Doc Watson is at the heart of a lot of Billy's music and he certainly worth discovering.
A complex song and yet so simple - Dylan's lyrics are so effortless - "we never did too much talkin' anyway". And Billy is absolutely blessed to have such a band, they have been playing together for so long, they have graduated to telepathy. Billy is truly a once-in-a-generation talent and I'm so glad to see him infuse new life into this American music form!
I have thought for quite some time that this song is the best song ever written. Now I get to see one of the best singer/musicians ever give it musical justice.
I've loved Doc's music since the 60's. Doc was a national treasure, as is Billy. In addition to the guitar stylings of Doc that are prevalent throughout Billy's music, there is a definite Doc Watson tone in Billy's vocals.
When I first began learning guitar Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” was the first song I learned, but I only learned the chords, haven’t yet mastered fingerpicking on the guitar. It’s cool that Dylan brought Billy Strings on a few of his recent tour dates on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour 2024. He has earned his place in that company.
Yeha! I love how they all flow together so well, because no one band member is trying to overpower another. They are one sweet unit. and it's the most beautiful listen I have heard because of it.
Thank you, Billy, once again. for Summertime, my Daddy playing his simple bluegrass singing into his mic, sometimes with his harmonica, too, they both sang me Summertime when I was baby. I can only play the very rudimentary version, lol. and I appreciate you and all your band with you on this journey, enlightening the young and making the old smile with goosebumps and chills.
Strings is well rehearsed in many different styles and artists but his main influence is most definitely Doc, at least that’s what I hear in his playing.
Just finished working on his concert in Huntsville, AL at the Orion Amphitheater…. I’ve heard about 50 really good guitarist over the last few years there -- Billy Strings stands heads & Shoulders above them!!!! This guy is the real deal… Sold out crowd of 7800 and everyone was moving and singing & drinking 😆😆😆. Having a great time !!!
He is the best young bluegrass picker out. Right I'll play a guitar myself right now I've been playing for about 55 years I play Chet Atkins style but this kid is real good
He’s fabulous as a player and a singer. I saw him last summer and it was the best concert that I’ve ever gone to where I didn’t know much of the music (I’m 66 and have gone to a lot of concerts every year since I was in my teens). The band was soooo tight, and Billy really connected with the crowd. He’s coming around again in October (Baltimore) and I’ll be going to both nights, this year!!
I never studied much bluegrass I like it, but never really listened to much. I witnessed Doc once live. That was certainly something to see. I also was fortunate enough to see Leo Kotke live. Both amazing. Billy has all of this knowledge and then some.
How he moves his picking thumb like that is beyond me. let alone playing the melody with the rest of his fingers and just cause you're kind of talented sings on top as well. I always show him playing this song to people to explain what looks easy on a guitar but is seriously hard vs just playing notes fast. He's so good
Das ist Musik, die kommt von unten, von den Vergessenen und Abgehängten, da ist so viel Gefühl und Seele in dieser Musik und Billy Strings bringt das grandios rüber, er weiß wovon er singt ❤
These songs have the power to simply appeal to people's sensibilities more than modern songs. I think it's because these songs are closer to the fundamental soul of American popular songs. I've been lucky to live amidst this music.
Yeeeeup. Saw the band with my daughter on my birthday so THAT was special! But holy freegin bullfrog jumpin.... just sayin Knockout of a great show. The crowd vibe alone was fawkin beautiful to be a part of. Peace. Love you humans.
Seen him and the band live in Savannah ga this year, and i was just absolutely blown away at how extremely talented the entire band was. Hands down the best musicians I’ve ever got to experience live
A year ago, I had no idea who Billy Strings was, I’m so glad that changed in September or October of 2023. I love his singing and playing so much, he’s the real deal & we have tickets for the Outlaw Festival next month at the Gorge, seeing Billy with Bob Dylan. ❤❤UPDATE:8-15-24, the Outlaw Festival was incredible, Willie Nelson was fantastic & it was Billy’s only night of playing with the Outlaws.
@@billorphusAlways, we will lose him soon, it was so incredible to have have his talented sons on either side of Willie, Micah and Lukas, special, Willie has always been special to me, I always wanted to see him but early this year,
You need to check out Dust In. Baggie, by him as well. That was the first song of his I heard. He was around 16 years old, short haircut, and sitting on a threadbare sofa in an old house with some friends, when they filmed him.
Caught this act as an opener for the Avett Bros. Never heard of anything about this group. Was blown away that night, which says a lot. Glad she is doing well!
Why do people say dumb shit like this? As if their generation was something special. People listen to music from Bach, 2 PAC, Led Zeppelin to Pearl Jam. Regardless of age. Music is ageless. Stop with this dumb rhetoric.
Brought some peace to my soul today ❤
❤
100%
We are lucky to have this guy!
Anything Billy puts his personal touch on just shines
✨⭐️🎶🌟🎶⭐️✨
The hype is real. Dude can sing and play studio quality music live every time
And he can only flat pick. Looks like Travis pickin to me.
@@fuzzybutkus8970 yea he can do it all. Wish he’d play more stuff orher than bluegrass and hurry up
Well, yes. As real as it gets. Nothing gets close.
Masterful
lol thanks
You are late to the party dude
I felt that bass solo in my soul
He’s insane and nothing beats an upright bass
100%
So lucky to be on this spaceship at the same time as Billy!
🎉
Absolutely beautiful renditions!
11:25pm heaven on earth. Watchin and listening. Sober and pregnant. Gods will
I love the addition of Alex Hargreaves to the band. One of my favorite fiddlers.
He’s 🔥 🔥 🔥
I agree 100%
Two phenomenal covers! Great song-writing elevated by a master!!
Nobody out there like Billy strings right now
Joe Robinson?
Molly Tuttle?
Bryan Sutton is pretty darn good.
They are ok but can’t write a song like Billy
@@bigal25938 He's great! Like a fine oiled machine.

Being born and raised in the South the song Summertime has been in my memory all my long life and I still love it! It's an anthem of the South!

George Gershwin is smiling down from heaven. Billy Strings and his fellow musicians did him proud. I liked that string bass solo.
You could spread his talent around to 25 other people and he would still have enough left to wow you.
Beautiful!
These guys have helped me keep my shit together for about 10 years now !! Not a day goes by that I don't listen to them !! Thanks 🤘🏻 Love yall !!
May you be well...
That is great. Billy and the boys are helping me keep my shit together too.
What a wonderful line-up! And these have to be two of the most perfect songs ever written. Thanks!!
It's those humble ones that are the most talented
Amen, I agree wholeheartedly. Billy is the G.O.A.T. of country music, rock music, bluegrass music & those over tones✨👏👏👏❤️
Yeha! I love how they all flow together so well, because no one band member is trying to overpower another. They are one sweet unit. and it's the most beautiful listen I have heard because of it.
I 've realy never heard Billy finger pick before. What an awesome job.

Are you a Billy fan?
@@BeverlyBandmanyup, sure am.

Absolutely beautiful. His singing makes me think of Doc Watson.
Virtuosity with an equal measure of humility…no posturing, just sincerity…like Doc.

I have to agree with you on that.
That Gershwin tune is in the pocket beautiful and the Dylan tune is great
It is the best I’ve heard it performed, ever, in this session. Musicians killed it

Appart from a total great performance. The bass och violine solos is so so Nice to listen to.
Always love there 2songs but this give them high praise. Crushed them both. Plus that 28 1940 Martin is so sweet to listen to.
When he plays that Martin I get choked up from the beauty.✌️
