Hi Friends - I did it! I finally finished and published my ebook! This is the story of how I went from depression to dream life in one year by minimizing my world down to the size of a suitcase. I hope my book inspires you to follow your dreams :) If I can do it, you can too! You can find it here: amzn.to/2nyyc7a

Totally!
I'm just like you and always tempted in shopping malls! Anything that I really want to buy, I add it to a 30 day wishlist on my phone, and if I still really want it after the 30 days I get it. Usually, half the things I end up forgetting about which saves me from impulse buying! :)
Britney Choi that's a great idea! im gonna try that now :)
Britney Choi I don't understand
Britney Choi Wow! What a great idea!!
Saving money. Hmmmm.
1. Try not to live paycheck to paycheck. Plan for life sucking at times.
2. Try to have six months of budget saved up.
3. If married, or have children, get life insurance.
4. Try to enter into retirement debt free. You can save on things like gym (at Planet Fitness) and car insurance ($24/month at Insurance Panda). Try to cut back wherever.
5. Look at your family medical history. Average out how long your ancestors lived. Add 5 years to that average. Is it 68? 75? 92?
6. Now, plan to have what ever your budget is plus a 5% increase per year. If you have a 2k monthly budget now, that is 24k per year. Multiply that times an extra 5% per year. Finally, multiply that for how long you intend or think you will live. Me? My number is 144k (2kx12monthsx6years)(average family death=66 so I go to 71 (if I retire at 65).
My number will rise with inflation.
Now, this notion that we all need to save (or invest in 401's) 1 or 1.5 million dollars is what the BANKS want you to do.
7. What do I do with the rest of the money? LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST EVERYDAY YOU ARE ALIVE!!!!!!
I make a list of items I want and make it my Christmas list.... To either get those things for myself or have my husband gift those things to me
Thank god I don't have friends lmaoooo
I feel ya 😥
stay single = save $$
doesn't mean you can't go have a gf but don't look for anything serious until you have taken care of yourself first ;)
Luis Rivera or have kids! Kids get you into debt (unless you're financially stable/wealthy)

Cutting out buying lunch, buying coffee, asking for discounts on cellphone bills are great! One tip I could add would be to call your auto insurance company to have them help you find a way to lower your premium and get money back. Many banks offer automated savings accounts as well.
The first time I called a new auto insurance company, a few years ago, I literally saved 1100 for a 12 month policy. I almost fell on the floor! I wish I had called sooner! Rate shop for sure!
Great tip Jess! Thank you for sharing :)
I used to work for state farm and one discount most places offer is if you drive under a certain amount of miles per year! Worth a shot.
Great tips. I agree 100%. I'm glad I've found another person who is into the same stuff as I am. I'm looking forward to more content about minimalism, capsule wardrobes and vegan food.
Thank you Anna :) I am publishing a Vegan What I Ate Today video tomorrow, I hope you like it!
i spend almost 1500$ just for clothes last month and should stop
Definitely :) Maybe check out my video on Minimalism, that may help you!
sure, i'm trying to be more minimal but always got it wrong.
akadimas Wow.... I usually don't even make that amount! It definitely helps to understand that shopping can be an addiction.. It gives you a good dopamine rush and I feel like usually even in the fitting room I can already tell whether I REALLY love the item and feel like I'll really use it well, or if it's kinda just for the sake of something new...
akadimas lol goodwill Monday sale $1.79 color tag. $20 get me 8 outfits lol
Meeee... if i wasn't broke af
What resonates most with me about the video is being more conscious about senseless spending. Thank you for the tips!
Thank you for watching and commenting Carlos :) glad it helped!
who else thought shes holding a slice of pizza in the thumbnail?
Mariam Z lol
Is instant coffee really that odd in the US? We brits have it as standard- filter and machine coffee are considered luxuries!
I'm actually from Canada :-) It has grown a lot in popularity in the past few years, but I'd say coffee machines are still definitely in first place.
amazing tips!!! i deff need to keep this in mind for college!
Nobody around me respects my goals, in fact they call them stupid, and bash me the whole time their out having dinner, or whatever else they wanted me to give them money for. It's whatever though. 😊
Tyra, that's when you blow them out of the water by achieving your goals!! Use that negativity to fuel your fire!
The hell kind of friends d'you have!?
Top tip for saving money, give up the Internet. The money you think you save shopping there is no where near the money you can't spend without it.
Thank you very much for this video. It is helpful and practical.
You're so welcome love! :)
home banks are useful...and also keeping your money at different places. coz you forget you have it so you are not tempted☺☺☺☺. am a huge fun😍😍
Yay! You are SO right, excellent tip :D Lots of love to you xo
Can't wait for more..though am a kenyan
you got me on the coffee part! that's awesome you drink Nescafé☕ great coffee and waaay less expensive than a daily starbucks 😧
I actually have a rule for myself: I can only buy coffee from anywhere once a week.
Angel Carranza yes but very toxic for the body. Better you buy from eBay or Amazon a ceramic coffee filter and buy the filter papers from supermarkets. Then choose a very nice coffee to filter this into your mug every morning. The house smells like Starbucks and the coffee is Barista style great taste.. You can buy this ceramic for one person and take it with you on your travels let's say your parents etc that's if your staying a few days.. And you can have a second one that makes 2- 4 cups for guests I have a thermal jug and filter it into it through a funnel ceramic type also. Then later you can grind ya own beans ad you go. Life's to short to drink bad coffee, same goes for ice cream it's got to be real. My treat at home is preparing myself a barista coffee it's well worth the work and you become a master at making the perfect cup. Check
Out you tube how to make a coffee with a ceramic coffee filter, don't buy metal or plastic ones very toxic.
Angel Carranza What is great with supporting the worst brand on the planet?
Angel Carranza even better buy a dirt cheap ceramic coffee filter from Amazon and filter papers on eBay . Bag of ground coffee from supermarkets. Buy only the coffee that's Been reduced.. I make a barista coffee every morning. You tube teaches you. Mine tastes
Like expensive coffee from all those pricey coffee shops.
Sounds great. I to like to save! Examples: hair wash/condition- baking soda/apple cider ving, washcloth/water, coc oil,, sunscreen. Bulk bins: oatmeal, bulk meat from farmer market, soups (crock pot!), comparison shop! Make your own jewelry, rent book from library to your phone/ipad, etc. Good tips. Thanks
Splurging on friends and family is definitely something I'm working on! Loved the tips!
Thank you Marissa :)
Discipline is very true! Great tips- I liked the oatmeal at work thing! Haha! You gotta do what you gotta do! Cutting out shopping when not necessary is good!
Totally :) !
I spend like $20 on movies for Black Friday and honestly I’m in a depression due to work and being single for 5 years. It helps me be happy again.
I definitely need more discipline with my spending. Sometimes I forget and think I have to treat myself...I should save the money and feel more financially stable instead! Thanks for your video!!
You're welcome :)
And stay away from Etsy! Haha!
Haha YES Pauline, yes.
ohwowitspau totally 😂🙈
I shop for clothes, shoes and other stuff in Ross or Burlington and I really think hard if clothes above $10.99 are really worth buying. There's no way I would buy jacket for $200
Your bed is in a bad Feng Shui position.
Ana Miss she probs doesn't care
Peaceful Warrior lol
I love walking places, especially here in NYC. It's hard to walk when I live in the suburbs, but I think biking could be a solution!

+Kawaii Ninja thank you so much for the kind comment ❤️
But actually of you start eating less meals a Day There is a chance you Will save money. Because you are not spending all your free time on shopping and making food 👍 I Will see if I can start eating only 2 meals every day now or maybe a snack in between.
When my friends go to Starbucks I just bring my own cup and a few tea bags to choose from--Hot water is free!
Perfecto :-)
You helped me to save money--
I was watching your money saving tips video & decided to cancel my Thanksgiving trip so that I can save for an even bigger better trip next year!
Aw, so happy to hear Caroline! You go girl!! Save that money :D
I saved money by ending my PayPal account so it was harder, slightly, for me to buy things online. I buy books, CDs, DVDs second hand from Amazon Marketplace. Wrap up your credit card in plastic then put into a small plastic bowl of water then freeze. Only defrost in event of emergencies. Grow herbs in old yogurt pots or similar on kitchen window ledge. Keep gift wrappings for reuse, wrapping paper can be ironed and looks new - sounds mean but good for environment too. Never shop for food when you are hungry as you will buy more. Learn to sew, knit and crochet and make your own clothes.
PS: I have a garden so can grow my own vegetables. You can grow rocket and lettuce in a window box. Buy fresh veg in season and freeze what you can't use now. I use charity/goodwill shops for most clothing, scarves, belts and costume jewellery.
Love your tips Margaret! Thank you for sharing :)
just found your channel, totally love it =D You're great !
+Mariana Arvidsson Welcome to the family Mariana! 🤗
Grazie :*
whats the name of the song in every start of your videos? :)
great tips, liked ^-^
I love how real you are in this video. I'm in the process of learning how to save my money. I'm running into trouble right now and I'm going to have to eat oatmeal and tuna for the next two days. But your right, its all about discipline and learning from your mistakes. Thanks for all the tips! I plan to us my pay check this week better lol
Thank you for you comment Catherine! I am so happy you enjoyed my video :) You can do it girl! Just keep a big goal in mind and everything will become a lot easier. I have definitely been an oatmeal eater nearing the next paycheck... It happens to the best of us ;)
lol i cleared my wardrobe and it made me realise i only have like 3 outfits :( gotta go shopping haha
Thanks for the video! I'm way too generous when it comes to spending money on people. Great tips! I'm actually a minimalist myself and it's a good life style. I have some tips:
1) get rid of subscriptions you don't need(like magazines or entertainment)
2) walk around your house or apartment and turn off lights(some people just leave their lights on all the time)
3)for those of you who have high interest credit cards with high debt(do a balance transfer to a zero percent apr card, but only if the balance transfer costs less than what you are charged in interest in a year), then pay it off.
4)if you must use a credit card, which most people do, pay off your balances in full at the end of each month, if you can. This way you'll save money on not paying interest.
+Vishal Gupta love the tips Vishal! Thank you!
you're welcome :-)
Another tip is to go out and collect cans which you can refund for money👍
Cute Little Girl but beautiful.............
I have three bank accounts. The one I get payment in, my savings account (to which always is put an amount every month) and then a "budget" account that I don't use for budgets. To that account is transfered around 1/3 of my monthly pay, meaning I can't reach that money with my credit card. I have to manually move the money from that account to my payment account. That means that even though I know in my mind that the money is there, I see the amount on my credit card account and that is the money I have to spend. It makes it easier to not use that extra money when you're out. Any extra money I then have left (if I didn't need to transfer it back), goes either to buy new things or directly into savings as well.
Thank you for the awesome advice :)
instant coffee is not coffee
some people have so bad taste/smell they can't tell the difference.
russianspringbeauty caffeinated drink, whatever
Deathwish coffee is coffee.
I guess you don't need coffee that bad then. Lol.
russianspringbeauty right it’s disgusting 🤮
Im addicted to shopping how do i get over it.... like i just cant resist esp clothes
allegri9cl have a budget and take control of your money. That ll change your mindset.
Check out my Minimalism playlist :)
I would make a system where I would write down everything i bought + price, like really track my spendings. After a period of doing that (eg week, month), I would have a thorough look at the list and compare the costs to the worth I feel I get out of my purchases. This forces you to really realize how much you are spending and motivates you:) And then I would do something to make not spending a more attractive option, for instance watch videos to make me feel like a fancy minimalist/part of a community or save for a larger goal haha😁
If you really want different clothes, the thrift store is a good option.
I never carry more then 20 bucks on me, and sometime leave my debit card home to see if I can manage without it. Also, take into consideration that I make a lunch and have the gas tank filled up...have to drive around for work no way around it. Whenever I get paid I take my whole check pay the bill and then see what I can save. I noticed that if I carry more cash on me I will spend it.
thank you for you tips ...smile
Thanks for sharing and for your great advice! Actually, oatmeal makes a great meal any time.
Thank you for watching Fred! And you are SO right :)
Love all of your videos, Zoey! You've helped me to minimalize so much. I love these tips, too! Your tip on planning out a 1-trip driving adventure for errands and everything has helped me a ton with gas, too!
shes so hard to look at bc shes so good looking....wtf is wrong with me...
THIS is what I needed! thanks a lot!
this really helps me a lot, I'm a new subscriber because your tips are actually legit. 😊❤
Thank you Michelle :) Welcome to the channel!
Just found your channel and so excited to watch more! These are great realistic tips! I just purged my closet using the MariKondo method and got rid of over half my wardrobe and it feels so good. I also recently found Poshmark and have sold a few items through that. Next, I really really need to unsubscribe from all the online clothing and makeup emails, I don't need anymore and have way more makeup that I could ever fully use but it's so hard to pass on the sales so I just need to not see them anymore!
+Shay Singer you are amazing! Keep it up 😄🙌🏼
You said vegan, I hit subscribe :)
Yay! #VeganPower
+Zoey Arielle Being generous is good... but if you stop being generous, people will think you are stingy. So, be generous, but just for the necessary stuff.
Exactly.
Hi! I loved your video you are amazing ♡
I'm in college now, and I would like to stop spending too much money when I go to the grocery store! If you have time for that, could you make a complete video about the items/food you buy ☺ thank you!
Love you! Such great video once again! Second Hand shopping can be really fun too! Simple foods...the best ;) Have a great week!
+Kia Charlotta Thanks Kia :) Hope you're having an amazing weekend! xoxo
hey that's super good and also focus on getting more money to make more money so you can spend more for example I only spend maybe 15% of what I make and I still get to live a good lifestyle and Im investing like 85% of my income
Thank you for watching Rodrigo :)
I saved and replaced my whole bathroom last year...soooo worth it..3k.:)..cute vid..save those dollar-e-dooos!!!
DON'T HAVE KIDS UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETELY CONFIDENT YOU ARE FINANCIALLY STABLE TO HAVE THEM. I have a lot of personal experiences with people that grew up miserable because they barley had enough money for anything.
Definitely going to check out your book. You've put somethings into perspective! I'm struggling with my spending habits and want to invest more of my money into my savings in order to better secure my family's future. For instants, I'm REALLY tempted to spend $200 on some Nike shoes I REALLY like but I know I could do better things with my money 😩 But there is this side of me that says I deserve them because I work hard and my biggest excuse is "you only live once". But I know buying them would be selfish... I'm definitely reconsidering after this video.
I’m 13 and I spend WAYYYYY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!!😂my goal is to have a WHOLE shopping day at the mall and I need money for that so I’m trying to save up😂
You are cute ! Thanks for the helpfull tips.
Thank you for watching Anna!
First video I see from you, but I really like it! I'm going to watch the cleaning out your closet-video next! New subscriber :)
Thank you Mandy :) I hope you like the channel!
Thanks for making this video! I really liked the tip about taking out your grocery budget in cash. I will try that next month.
:) Thank you for watching!
Saving goal: not being poor :)
It's exactly my thinking in life!
One tip that helped me a lot was to stop spending money on salon-grade shampoos and expensive cosmetics. Cheaper brands have good products too, I went from using Lancome foundation and Clinique powder to Bourjois and Rimmel!! I've saved so much money, and seriously nobody notices. If anything I look better since I'm also eating healthily, exercising and so on.
I really want to save up for the iPhone XS MAX and AirPods which is 1,300 ( rounded up ) . I want to save up for that in a year. I don’t know if it is achievable? Do you think so ?
Haha, the places i like spending are also the places I work at (Whole Foods and recently a book store which is across the street. They're in the same mall ). I have to force myself to bring my own lunch and leave my debit card at home. Just in case I don't have time to prep my lunch, I pre-plan my grocery budget before the start of the month (and that budget I can carry into next month and so on)
Amazing tips! 1.Ask yourself do I need to buy this item? 2. It's not how much you make $ it's how much you spend!!!!
Please don't buy coffee that's made by exploiting poor farmers :( Saving money is good, but not if you do it by taking away money from others. And that's what you are doing when buying such products. Get yourself some fair or direct trade coffee, still less expensive than Starbucks and you are making sure that the farmers can have a good life too.
If I have 500 euros in my credit card, I take 200 of those and put them somewhere where I can't access them. This way I will just have less money and I just won't be able to spend more than what I have
Something I've started doing when I want to buy a pair of clothing is ask myself "how many times will I wear it?" and "how much will it cost each time I wear it?" So if I want to buy a fancy dress for special occations and it costs $60, I'll ask myself how many times I'll realistically wear it and if it's worth the price. If I wear it once it will cost me $60 per use, twice $30 etc. I try to only buy clothes that I can get the wear time down to $1 per use. Using this mindset I can spend more money on basics and outerwear that I know I'll use, and less on special occation clothes. I also limit my shopping because I want to use the clothes I own to get my moneys' worth. It's been working great so far :)
One can give more than expected by randomly giving to panhandlers(baggers) too often. Some have pretended to be a long lost friend to try to manipulate a donation out of you. I saw someone who may have known me ask for X amount then after I gave slightly more still wanted more & finally didn't want more. Be careful, conflicted can arise.
this definitely helped me because eaven if i olnly use 15% I know I could use much less shit like a generally go out to eat a lot and buy a ton of crap that I don't actually like
I am going to stop using my debit card. Without paying attention, I've made 52 transactions in one month. Many were from restaurants and compulsive shopping.🌹
somthing that might help people is have a seperarte account for online billing and and savings account and everydays account have 20% go to billing 30% to everydayaccound and 50% to online account i personally have my employer do this for me
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Having a clear goal will help to keep you on track. When you just start a budget it will take a wile for you to get it if it’s something you are not used to. It’s good to plan your giving instead of randomly giving money away.
My spending was bars and restaurants. I lied to myself thinking I was going out to be social. But I was pretty much bored and stuck in a rut of finding happiness in spending time and money to fill a void in my life. Maybe I should have taking up chewing gum instead of ordering meals and drinks. Been several months since I stopped my living unconsciously and started living with purpose and striving for reclaiming my life and money.
Plz there is an annoying beeping sound in this video its distracting & nerve wrecking don't include such weird noises it just spoilt a good video.!
Lol I dont even hear whatever you're talking about, its probably just in the music. Either way, she doesn't have to cater to your anxiety- ridden OCD self
A comedian said he paid people who can cut stuff off. Dick Gregory joked that he was glad when someone said this is the last time we're going to try to collect this.
How did you quit drinking coffee? I want to quit so much but I am medicine student. And I need to stay awake while I was studying
Actual and real good tips. You also present yourself in a very nice and pleasant way. Subscribed!
I want to save my money because I want to buy the iPhone 8 Plus and save money for school but I get so tempted to spend and it’s so annoying.
Thank you for this video! ;) trying to spend less money right now and I found a few tips that I'm sure will help me :D

You're so welcome :) I hope it helps!
I'm always tempted to save money on my car... it's so sad
On the rare occasions that I need to replace a wardrobe item, I get it from thredUp.com, it is an online thrift shop (they also take items for store credit).
Great tip! Thank you Arlene!
Great tips! These were super helpful, thanks Zoey! :D
my dog got sick because I left out chocolate and now I took her to the vet and my parents made me pay 500 dollars and for a 14 year old thats a ton
Thrift shopping can be a huge hit or a huge miss, but if you know how to shop, it is a great way to save money. :)
