Classic Game Room - DJ HERO 2 review

- Classic Game Room reviews DJ Hero 2 for Xbox 360, also available for PS3 and Nintendo wii. DJ Hero 2 is the 2010 techno / club / rap / hip-hop / dance music video game sequel to 2009's excellent DJ Hero from Freestyle Games and Activision. Features music and questionable mixes of songs from Lady Gaga, Deadmau5, Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Eminem, Flo Rida and Chamillionaire. While gameplay remains relatively unchanged from the near perfection of DJ Hero 1, the mixes themselves seem more focused on game play than actually being listenable which makes playing the game more of a chore than it needs to be. This CGR review of DJ Hero 2 has gameplay from DJ Hero 2 on Xbox 360 showing DJ Hero 2 game play in HD videogame music game action.

@genesisSOC Also, I only blocked the ad on the right hand side of the video. The lame pop-ups inside the video never happen to me. Face it : Opera > Firefox.
Hows does multiplayer singer work? plug in your 360 headset to the turntable?
Beat this game 100% and loved it. Beat dj hero 1 and I love everything about them I am a hip hop rap fan. These games are perfect IMO
@genesisSOC what can do all of this? i use safari for one reason and for one reason only... private browsing. i look at a lot of umm... subjective material
@JimDevoursDimes Umm, yes it does. I don't see any ads before any videos on RUclips.
Dude, this is one review that I cannot agree with you yet They completely re-innovated it, it's just mostly under-the-hood stuff. The calibration screen is probably the best calibration screen that I have EVER used in any music game. EVER. The mixes are astonishing. They fixed EVERYTHING wrong with the reverse (beatmatching, etcetc). The freestyle scratch, crossfade, and the additional effects really add a lot to the game. And personally, I think the music in this one is a shit-ton better, IMO
The notes seem to be coming 2x the speed of DJ Hero 1.....do they think that's what people expect from a sequel or something?
@genesisSOC I doubt the phrase "complex operation" suits there. But really, what else do you need in a browser, that already isn't there...I mean, yes ads are annoying, the interface should be 100% customizable by the user, a skin for eye candy and that's about it. For me, I love Operas Speed Dial for quick acess, which I've tried on Firefox and it was incredibly slow and horrible to use really. So in reality tell me, as a Firefox user, what kind of add-ons do you really NEED for browsing.
@reixo Opera can't block all ads (including RUclips ones), download RUclips videos for free and quickly, rehost images to ImageShack with a simple right click, translate text instantly just by highlighting it and right clicking it, show you when you get a new email instantly in your browser and send you to it with one click, show you previews of sites before you click them when searching, or show you where the server is located of each site next to the web address. Add-ons never break.
@3v3angel I meant that some people still use the old versions of Netscape, which, IMO, are still better than IE and Safari.
FUN FACT:
The scratching you hear in the intro (the part with the squirrel) is from DJ Q-Bert's Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Music, specifically part 18
I wonder why he didn't mention him in it....
@MaikBey Opera can't block all ads (including RUclips ones), download RUclips videos for free and quickly, rehost images to ImageShack with a simple right click, translate text instantly just by highlighting it and right clicking it, show you when you get a new email instantly in your browser and send you to it with one click, show you previews of sites before you click them when searching, or show you where the server is located of each site next to the web address
what was that last song called?
You know, I love CGR. And truthfully, CGR's review of DJ Hero 1 is what pushed me into getting that game to begin with. But, I feel like the most important parts of DJ Hero 2 are entirely ignored. Sure, the track list is inferior to the first one, but the addition of the open fading and scratching sections and the song-contextual freestyle red areas makes this game head and shoulders above the first. The complaint that there was no innovation to the sequel is completely unfounded.
@joeifail Safari is the default browser for Macs. It has the same security loopholes.
It's reviews like this that remind me why I watch classic game room. It's also reviews like this that make me think that Mark's opinion on video games should be respected above all other reviewers on the internet.
Your avatar looks TOO MUCH like you xD
Also, I do kinda like the music.
@genesisSOC well yea but with safari you can delete specific webpages without deleting all of them... its kind of obvious when someone looks at your history and its empty
wait what song was at 3:56 around that can anyone name the song ?
@Chaytup Chrome can't block all ads (including RUclips ones), download RUclips videos for free and quickly, rehost images to ImageShack with a simple right click, translate text instantly just by highlighting it and right clicking it, show you when you get a new email instantly in your browser and send you to it with one click, show you previews of sites before you click them when searching, or show you where the server is located of each site next to the web address.
Hey mark !! ont you think they should make a new vectrex game were you play as Daft punk : P
Soundgarden with electro now you are onto something ;-)
I would like to see Taco Hero you impress the audience with your magic taco eating skills =D
Loved the music, beat the game on expert. 5 starred all 65 quick play songs.
Great Beck reference!
@reixo Speed Dial? Bookmark Toolbar my friend. I've never used Speed Dial so I wouldn't be able to compare it. I don't feel a need to use it. My favorite ad-ons? 1. Adblock Plus, 2. Easy RUclips Downloader, 3. Rehost Image, 4. gTranslate, 5. Webmail Notifier, 6. Search Preview, 7. Flagflox, 8. Colorful Tabs. There are so many others out there that I don't even use but probably should try anyway. And if you hate add-ons so much and only care about what you "NEED" for browsing, use Chrome.
@DMeredith15 uhh probably too late but buy dj hero 2 over dj hero 1 because it has the continues play option so the mixes really flow into eachother instead of just stopping the music and playing the new selected track (dj hero 1)
good review! now i'm not thinking about actually buying that game again lol
Was that Pendulum I heard around 1 minute?
They should make something like: DJ HERO: PRODIGY
Now I would buy that!
How much of these kinds of games can they make?
@reixo What don't you understand that add-ons are genius, amazing, epic, and perfect? Do you just simply not understand what all you can do with add-ons?
@mrnerd300 Chrome can't block all ads (including RUclips ones), download RUclips videos for free and quickly, rehost images to ImageShack with a simple right click, translate text instantly just by highlighting it and right clicking it, show you when you get a new email instantly in your browser and send you to it with one click, show you previews of sites before you click them when searching, or show you where the server is located of each site next to the web address
Why are mine made for left handers?
should I buy this ?
@rickyjshiznit But it doesn't empty your whole history. You can choose to empty just an hour's worth of history if you want.
@genesisSOC Bookmark Toolbar is always in the way, speed dial is only there when you open a new tab. And I don't HATE add-ons, I just find the idea of a browser that mostly relies on them bullshit. Chrome was okay when it came out, but they couldn't even go without add-ons. Sad.
What's the name of the song from 5:46 to 5:50?
What song is at 2:07 ???? please!!!!!
Isn't that what Dubstep is? Or do you mean like songs on the game? I'm sorry your comment just seems odd to me, haha.
This game makes me want Jet Grind Radio for some reason
Calvin Harris, Prodigy, Justice, Tiesto, Dizze Rascall, deadmau5, Basement Jaxx...the list goes on, I fucking love the soundtrack in this game, lots of lowlights but the highs are even higher than last time
@1993gandy No? I don't see any ads and I'm not going to waste 30 seconds to watch them.
i love his musical taste
@necrid86 1. Use Firefox 2. Use Adblock Plus add-on 3. Never see an ad again
What's the song at 3:44
@pichupokemon1010 Chrome can't block all ads (including RUclips ones), download RUclips videos for free and quickly, rehost images to ImageShack with a simple right click, translate text instantly just by highlighting it and right clicking it, show you when you get a new email instantly in your browser and send you to it with one click, show you previews of sites before you click them when searching, or show you where the server is located of each site next to the web address.
Your avatar looks cool! Looks just like you!
i didnt like many songs in the first dj hero game but i really like them in this game :)
Can someone PLEASE for the love of god tell me music at 2:07 PLEASE
@Chatpage sry for bad typing my hand were freezing then :P
The only thing I look forward to in this game is playing Deadmau5 and I think tieso, but I'm not super sure if he is in he game though.
@TheGenesisfan93 Umm, all browsers are free, so are the add-ons.
I was just watching the IGN review of this game and man they are serious, and i went on to this one and this reviewer makes me laugh and is fun way to spend your time on computer.
It's true this game suffers in comparison to the last one regarding the music, the first one had more a of a hip hop vibe to it while this one still does but it mainly seems to focus on songs that you'd find in club scenes and parties so i''m surprised there were any scratch mechanics at all. I do like genres like house and electronica, but they really need get better hip hop back in there. I'm not too surprised though since this is a follow up to a game that let you mix Beck with Eminem.
TIESTO FTW!!! now i have to get it
@Dxternator persia has a lot of electronic trance music, so its a match for dj hero
To be honest, I see his point. The songs in 1 were truly creative while 2 takes the songs to a more realistic level
@dontmesswiththelaser what is it
@genesisSOC mozilla firefox actually is netscape, with all the pretty add-ons...just check wiki. "In 1998, an informal group called the Mozilla Organization was formed and largely funded by Netscape"
want to hear some headhunterz in the next one.
If you like soundgarden, you are aweosme in my book!
00:49 shouldent that ring on his shirt be red?
3:50 whats the song please :(
@djklink20009 you should try the IE 9 beta its cool, i used to have firefox, then i switched to chrome and i liked it for a whilr then i got bored and tried IE 9, its definatley faster than chrome because wnhen i clicked 720p in chrome it took a while to load up and now in IE 9 its very fast.
I wanna hear some Suicide Commando and/or Dioxyde in the next one
Y THEY REPLACE DAFT PUNK WITH DEADMAU5?
would you rather play as DAFT PUNK or DEADMAU5?
i would rather play as daft punk, deadmau5 is just...just plain awful
Nice one
@AVMthrasher Exactly - RUclips costs more money to run then they actually make from it - it literally loses money for Google.
I got this for $25. Great buy!
@shadowtsunami
Wind squid uses beer as power ups
@genesisSOC I'm sorry, but the first Opera versions were released back in 1996, whereas Firefox was released around 2004. Opera doesn't need million add-ons to work like you want it to. It is user friendly for computer illiterate people, yet it allows deep customization.
Btw: If you didn't buy dj hero 1, they give you both games with the turntable pack for 2.
@DAudIcI It all started with a mere joke, just leaning towards the preference of Opera, but then just got told that It isn't functional at all. And I wanted to defend myself. I like Opera the way it is, and I brought out every aspect in comparison to Firefox. But there was nothing really to compare in terms of functionality because most of Firefoxes good functions are obtained via add-ons. And that's the main reason why I don't like the browser.
@SOLIDSNAKEXXX360 does that include me?
i played this at best buy it was actually kind of fun
@reixo I did that same thing with Firefox by the way.
@HappySack2 Wouldn't go that far but I somewhat agree.
Galvanize is freakin' hard song and can break your crossfader.
When we got this game @ work I was like "YES!".. then I read the tracklist "OMGOMG JUSTICE OMG DAFT PUNK OMG FUCK YEAH!" but then I saw which songs they mixed them with and I died a little :'(
0:17 is this mouse razer? LOL
although the last one had daftpunk, this one has deadmou5. Thats just as good.
@911Dreda11 Naw they should make Dubstep Hero! :D
@genesisSOC Well you do need a mouse and a keyboard to use a browser BTW. Opera is compatible with almost every OS out there. I don't need add-ons to do my surfing. Opera has everything I need built in. I don't need to update every single feature once a month or deal with tiny bugs. Heck, with Firefox you need to download a freaking add-on just to display tabs on the right side of the screen. This shows how lazy the designers were. They just let the community do the work for them. Lazy.
@MrUnofficial i'll use that then
I didn't like the track list for dj hero 2 and the new mechanics with the "freestyle" stuff felt limited. I agree with CGR on this one, more daft punk and more clever mixes...
How can you not love the music in DJH2? I do agree the game needed more Daft Punk instead of Lady GaGa and should've brought more new features to the table but the music isn't bad at all.
This music is why I hate going to clubs.
lol 2 turn tables and a microphone, without that song on the game??? thats sad. very sad,
Song a 3:50 ?
@ALEXmeda WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It would be totally awesome if DJs would start mixing some Soundgarden and other grunge bands. That's pretty much committing musical blasphemy, though =).
I have heard some pretty amazing hip hop over Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkin's beats, though.
this day is my berthday
The backing track of Informer by Snow is Jackson 5 you fool....
Why do I feel like the public itself has more talent than 90% of music artists from this era?
How about Banjo Hero, and Violin hero, or perhaps, Oboe hero, LOL!!!
@rickyjshiznit Firefox can do all of that. There's also a thing called "clear recent history," you know. -_-
@rickyjshiznit Exactly. I'm a teenager, but I can even agree that 99% of "music" nowadays is either fake or crap. Classical or 60's-90's music is good.
@genesisSOC They can be cool and useful, but they aren't perfect. And a browser put together with such add-ons isn't perfect. It's like a puzzle where any piece can go missing or break. However if the developers choose to implement a good feature, they polish it and make it work perfectly. I don't use everything Opera offers me, I use what i need. And everything else that is built in doesn't affect my browsing experience.
@911Dreda11 No, they should mae DJ DnB
