Join me at Christ's Chapel in Townsend, Georgia, also known as: The Smallest Church in America. At only 10 x 15 feet, with three rows of pews, and a compact pulpit built for a single minister, this tiny church might only seat twelve attendees, but it was built to hold a whole lot of prayers.
Thousands of travelers pull over while driving down I-95 and US Highway 17 to visit Christ's Chapel each year, which is open to the public 7 days a week.
The church represented a dream come true for a local grocer named Mrs. Agnes Harper who built the chapel in 1949 so that it could serve as a place of rest and meditation for weary travelers.
Although Mrs. Agnes has since passed on, local ministers still hold non-denominational services on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
This tiny church is one of the most unique and smallest landmarks along the Georgia Coast Scenic Byway, but it's had its fair share of big struggles.
The church almost went bankrupt in 1983, but the The McIntosh County Chamber of Commerce stepped in, adopted it, and committed to offering financial help when needed.
Then on Nov 28, 2015, the church was set on fire by an arsonist, destroying the inside and much of the exterior.
The devil may have sent destruction into the heart of Christ's Chapel, but the Good Lord wasn't through with this tiny church.
Donations poured in from around the world and volunteers came together to rebuild the beloved landmark. The 150-square-foot church was reconstructed and opened again to the public in April 2017.
Although it's called The Smallest Church in America, it's actually got some competition for the official title. Turns out there are tiny churches all over the USA, some that make a smaller geographic footprint.
Like the Morning Star Chapel in Elk Horn, Iowa which was built in 1951 and measures only 6 by 8 feet.
Or The Monte Casino in Crestview Hills, Kentucky which measures 6 by 9 feet and was named in 1922 by Ripley's Believe It or Not as "Smallest Church in the World."
So maybe it's not technically the smallest church in America, but that's alright.
The church is a sanctuary for the tired and weary. A place where no-one is turned away regardless of race, religion, or creed. A place where all are welcome to stop in, come together to rest, and prepare for the long road ahead... which just might be what America needs right now.

This world will give you so many unknowns-whether that’s career-wise, love/relationship-wise, health-wise, status-wise, or even where you call home. There are moments you can’t plan for, whether that has to do with your loved ones, your decisions, or how moments play out around you. In those moments you can fold, you can be anxious, you can live with regret or fear, or you can trust God.
There is an old church in South Africa even smaller than this. Also beautiful.

I'm actually building 2 smaller churches, one is the curch of the iron cross, and it's only 8 by 12, and will only hold 5 people, but could be the smallest church of its height. The other it the church of the Iron bell on the hill, it is not big enough for anyone to enter, though you can fit inside.
They will be on opposite sides of the road and the church of the cross will only be open 13 days out of the year, or so it's planed. Fully sealed outside those 13 days

God's #Loveisnotacortisol stress hormone. Stress hormones cause confusion and doubt, stress, anxiety, fear, paranoia, detachment form self, confusion in mind and body, a cutting off to self, a lack of self esteem and confidence, a lack of connection thereby no trust, security faith nor peace. Confusion in mind and body never attaining to spirit. Without God's Spirit we are dead according to James 2:26, just as faith without works is dead.
The main human right we need to stand up for is mothers and babies/children to be together. The stresses start with separation too young. Mothers and their babies and children need the adoring love of each other. This is how God has made the family for attaining to His glorious Love for all our happiness, Peace, safety and security for Faith and ultimately Christ, the law leads to Christ. Yet how the law is burdensome, corrupt and over priced. Houses are overpriced and women exhausted with work and children and homes to look after. Most people are over stresses and exhausted these days resulting in cortisols ruling. Stress is the main cause of diseases. God's #Loveisnotacortisol

( No more death is referring to death of spirit, because The Holy Spirit is quashed by wars, abuse, sin, hurt, slavery and oppression etc which take away peace and happiness and fall short of God's Love causing grief, pain, illness, sickness and death of the spirit leading to death of happiness and joy leading to depression, anxiety and sicknesses that in time lead to sickness and physical death. )
If there are millions of people on antidepressant and anxiety medication, then there are still millions of anxious and depressed people. Masking a symptom with a drug is not healing and so the fullness of the spirit and fruits of the spirit are lost and life looses joy and natural pleasure. This is why spiritism/pharmakia cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven and neither can the sinners.
For Life in accord with God's promise for life we must walk in and by God's Spirit of altruistic Love for Life. God's #Loveisnotacortisol stress hormone and God's Love guides us away from the causes of stress hormones to allow our endorphins to flourish.

Did anyone give you trouble filming there? Wanting to film there for two hours this week!
There was actually no-one there when we went. They just leave the place open. Only a few other tourists passed in and out while we were there, but no-one "official" that gave me any issue with filming. I would just be courteous of filming while other people are there, like if it was Sunday morning and there was a service happening or something, but that probably goes without saying in our videography world.
