Why We Built This Tiny Chapel

- We built a tiny wedding chapel in our back yard - right beside the rose garden. Why? Because it's awesome. Also because it makes a nice spot for photos and (small) ceremonies or renewals of vows. Also, we had a duck pen we had do find a new use for!

It's so wonderful! Please dont be worried about what people think! Why? Who cares! I love it! 😊
Thanks!
So charming! ‘Tis a gift to be simple, Tis a gift to be free’ 🕊️
Absolutely charming! Love the small chapel with the gorgeous stain glass windows!
Thanks Leia!
It's adorable! I think it would make a very nice setting for a small wedding. Love the windows. It also kind of makes a nice reference to the history of roses being tended to by monks at different points in time.
Totally - we were going to go for a classic rose window, but it was above our skill level!
It is simply adorable and looks so well made. You took what could have been trash and made something beautiful. As far as any religious connotations implied, that's up to you. Your property, your business, and your channel. Be true to yourself. I love it !
Thanks Anna
A Couple miles down the road from me, someone built a chapel treehouse with a rope bridge over a small creek... The best, when it's lit up for the holidays with Christmas lights
Ohhh that looks great ,how beautiful..
I'm sure folks will enjoy too..👏😏
Thanks so much Georgina!
Nice stained glass windows! Love the chapel !
Thanks - we didn't hire Michelangelo for the large window, but it came out pretty great anyway!
Sweet idea, sweet vid, Jason. GREAT JOB on the Chapel.
Thanks!
So adorable. Absolutely no need to apologize.
Definitely like the stained glass. Very cool
Thanks!
That’s SO BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad you like it - thanks for the feedback.
Good job
That's so cool...it could be a prayer Chapel too ..why not ! ❤
I believe one day, it will be featured on the cover of a magazine. So cool!
Really lovely chapel. With some more flowers in the landscape and maybe a patio in the near future I'm sure it would be a great success. All the best Jason.
Thank you Annie
Yes a patio would be a great addition, with a covered awning (for rainy days), and some evergreen plants around for October weddings 👍🏻
BEAUTIFUL
Thank you
So beautiful, and nice to look at. I'm not religious either, but I think churches are quite fascinating buildings. Impressed by your idea. The rose GHISLAINE DE FÉLIGONDE… a small sweet rose, for a small sweet church. Love it.
I love it It's fantastic I think it's a right fit for the property and business.
Absolutely beautiful.
Looks great and I love the windows, will be great for wedding photos when roses bloom.
I think it's beautiful and it will look gorgeous surrounded by roses.
Ohh I see it now. 😊☺️
Thanks for sharing! It’s beautiful. Can’t wait to see it in full bloom or maybe a “4 seasons of the wedding chapel” video in the future because I bet fall and winter are just as beautiful. Great idea!
Thank you Lisa!
Lovely. I assume you will be landscaping around it 🌹💐
You bet! Every little chapel needs some tiny garden beds for foundation plantings and such.
I was going to ask the same thing 😊. It would be so cute with flowers around it 🌷
It’s so cute! I’m excited to see it with roses.
The ducks will love the reno...
They'd redecorate in a heartbeat!
SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! It turned out amazing. Congratulations you guys !!!
Thanks Christy!
I bet it will look gorgeous during the summer surrounded by roses 😍
So sweet.
That's a sharp idea! Total Jerry McGuire moment! I bet it's wonderful there with all your roses bushes around!
So 😍cute
looks great
Thanks so much!
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm need climbing roses on either sides, lol
I love it, It's going to make many couples very happy to have married in that on your beautiful property with the back drop of your beautiful roses.
I think it’s cute😊
Thanks - I'm glad you like it.
Absolutely adorable, beautiful! And yeah, the backdrop? Simply stunning.
What an original idea! And so cute too!
What fun!
Your chapel is really beautiful. It will be so pretty when the flowers bloom.
This is so beautiful!!! Really cute too!
It's pretty 😍, looking very good 👍
Love the chapel! Looking forward to visiting your farm your summer.
Thanks - we'd love to see you!
Sweet 💕 It doesn’t have to be anything but!
Why not??? Love it. ❤
Great idea Jason! ❄️💚🙃
This is beautiful, and a perfect addition to your farm. I love watching your videos; wish I could visit!
Thanks so much Katrina
Absolutely fantastic idea!
You have the perfect setting for a chapel.
People get married every day. Why not in a rose garden.👌🤙
Thanks!
It’s very beautiful! I can see it making good photo background for roses 😊
Good for renewing your vows
Love it !
Thanks!
It's beautiful--genius idea!
It is beautiful and a great idea! I think is very cool and will make a beautiful back drop for pictures! Nice work!
Thanks!
Very nice, from someone who's built their own chapel !
Omg I love it.
Edit: I’m entirely non-religious, and regardless of why and what it stands for to you it’s a beautiful work of craftsmanship
Thanks so much! I had some other skilled hands on the job, but anywhere you think a jigsaw may have been used it was probably me!
Your little church definitely looks small.
Years ago my husband and I drove to Alberta and stopped at a tiny little chapel, I believe it was in a town called Crowsnest. The sign said smallest chapel in the world. I don't know if it's still there. Your little church reminded me of this and brought back some precious memories of over 50 years ago.
I love your videos.
Thanks from Missouri USA!
Lol. Thanks Sharla. It looks like we're all after the same title, but I'm quite sure someone could convert a doghouse or something even smaller - so my record will never be safe!
I love your little chapel! ❤️
Wow!😍That photo of the sunlight streaming through the stained glass making a prism/rainbows lighting on the wall…✨Stunning!
The before and after pictures show such a huge contrast. What a labour of love! 💞 You had a vision in your mind of what the duck house could be and you made it happen. Good for you!
Such a pretty chapel. It really caught my eye when I was at your rose farm picking up my order. Can’t wait till the roses are in bloom. I plan to come back with the family. So happy to have discovered you and your farm via RUclips.😊
Thanks Karen - we'll be happy to see you again this summer!
I saw this over on IG last night, I really like it and you've made an existing structure into something lovely to look at, at the very least. Many photos will be taken!
When I move to New Hampshire and homestead there I might build an Orthodox version of this. I might even get it blessed as a private chapel. God bless your family and your farm may the harvests always be abundant.
So pretty❤❤❤
Amazing for sure! Well done! I'd love something like that to use as a meditation room! So quiet, so peaceful! No pets allowed 🤭😇🤔
Amazing ❤❤❤
Oh Jason, it's wonderful! So aesthetic. You and your honey have exquisite taste!
Thanks Donna!
It's beautiful. I would love to get marriage there. Like seriously, how much would you charge if people want to get married there? 😅
Aw, thanks Huy! We're going to post a page on the website for booking, but right now we're inclined to offer it for free or minimal cost - so long as it's a small private affair. We're not set up for all the other fuss around weddings (guests, receptions, or even much in the way of washroom facilities) so it's more a matter of keeping it small and simple.
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm and there are probably by laws on what facilities you would have to supply for “x” amount of people, and then wheelchair accessible etc etc etc
Way back in the mid-60s or so, I and my sis were Junior Bridesmaids at a tiny chapel south of Farmersburg, IN, (near Terre Haute). There were 9 of us very scrunched up close to each other ... but it was cute! 💗✝🛐
It’s beautiful (:
Thank you
Sweet 👍
I think, it's super cute! Roses are so romantic, why not have a spot for people to celebrate romance in their own way? It makes sense for the farm.
Thanks Gibby!
Beautiful work. Great job 🙂
Thanks!
Farm looks great Jason. Really good focal point. Don't worry as to the how and why for the chapel. Many people in my area make good income from having places to do like you said, wedding and engagement photos. Can't wait to see full bloom. It's pretty much spring here in the south.
Thanks!
Wicked cute Jason! In Massachusetts there was a children's amusement park many years ago called Kings Castle Land in Whitman made of wooden buildings with a petting zoo and small rides. Very homemade and they had a similar tiny chapel.
Thanks Helen!
Hi. Jason, I am one of those who spotted the chapel in the background of another video and wanted a better look. I think it is amazing 👏. I happen to be a Methodist Minister. However, folk should not see this as a 'religious' building of any particular faith, as I note you have not included any symbols such as ( crosses, stars, moon, menorahs, for example). It is simply just a lovely construction 😀. Thanks for showing us. Really appreciate it. 💓
Thanks Pauline. I appreciate your encouragement
Let’s hope that “Everything Comes Up Smelling Like Roses”🌹 when the couples get married……😂😅😊
It would be a great place to go to just sit and be with God, when the weather is cold or rainy. Out there in nature or among the roses would be even nicer!
I’m hoping he will grow some climbing roses all around this
Jason and Lisa, it is darling 💒💞
❤❤❤❤
There is a smaller church build at the Wiscasset Raceway in Wiscasset, ME
Does the bell ring?
In the wind, but not with a pull rope. We're still debating that one.
It might be nice to grow climbing roses over the roof or entrance.
As an atheist, I LOVE this! Very nice art piece and the windows are perfect!
Beautiful. I plan to build a small Chapel - though significantly larger than this one (I wish to have 2 or 3 pews on each side for a total seating of 8-12 people) on my future homestead acreage. It will also have a small studio "apartment" living space. The idea is to not only have a beautiful place for myself & family to venerate Jesus Christ & work to grow closer to Him, but also be able to offer devout fellow Christians & future traditional God-fearing pastors that are attending a non-secular/non-"progressive"(ie. heretical) Bible college during their summer break(s) a place to retreat to for possibly 1 or 2 month(s) in order to get closer to God & study the Word in all of its Glory - similar to a monastery. All that would be asked is they work to upkeep it while they stay & ONLY use it for its true purpose of prayer, worship, and study of the Word in the pursuit of Jesus Christ and the traditional teachings of the Church.
I'll possibly be placing a small family cemetery near it.
I think it would be wrong for me to buy large acreage & build a nice home for myself and my family, but not also build a place that is worthy of worshipping Him. While it will be small, it will be grand & beautiful.
The entrance of your Chapel has inspired me.. I now plan to do something similar with a high bell tower like yours, but on the back end, with a shorter raised entrance of double doors.
Again, thank you for the architectural inspiration, but most importantly solidifying my decision to build a small private Chapel and be able to offer it to help my fellow brothers in Christ a way to grow and become even more solid in their faith. ✝️
God bless. 🙏
I want one in my backyard so I can have a place away from the rest of the family ('cause they're noisy) to do my Bible study and pray
Such a precious little chapel❣️❤️ congratulations on such an excellent job Jason! On a side note, I couldn’t help but notice you have lost weight and are looking great. May I ask how you have achieved it? (I am looking to do the same)
Thanks Lolli. I cut some of my own personal bad habits: snacking in the evening was a pretty big one, so now it's no calories between dinner and breakfast. I also cut out refined sugar as much as I could. Otherwise still a balanced diet and a little extra exercise.
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm Thank You very much for the sound advice Jason!
It’s very pretty. I personally would like my garden to have religious statues or symbols because personally my gardening makes me very spiritually connected to God I feel like. Also how was having ducks? I plan to get some and chickens in a year or two if I can
Thanks Justice - I'm glad you find that spirituality in your garden! Ducks were fine (if a bit messy) but keeping them safe from coyotes was a long-term problem.
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm I see. Aside from gardening I’d like to have a homestead one day to raise food. Roses are my highest passion but all gardening and stuff is really awesome for me. Also thank you I think nothing is more spiritually beautiful than nature
Certainly gives the Happy Couple a reason to cut way back on the invite list. "Sorry we didn't invite you, the 'church' only could fit three people." My first wedding cost $3/second for the duration of the wedding and reception. This would have been a much better idea!
That math! Ouch.
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm I remember standing next to the dance floor and thinking "three bucks....three bucks....three bucks...three bucks...." Great party though.
I plan on doing one also. But it will 1000% being a religious thing. Glory to Lord Jesus Christ! ✝
Fun, creative idea - except the tires around the roses let everything down. You gotta think up something better - has a shabby junkyard feel, rather than a cool wedding venue. I mean, c'mon, you're a rose grower - I'd expect a big rose garden bursting with fragrant roses and pergolas. It would pay for itself the very first season.
Thanks. I accept this kind of feedback with a polite nod and a shrug. Our farm is nowhere near meeting everyone's expectations, and if I managed myself to external approval, I'd have a hard time making any progress at all. We have moles in the lawn. Our customer washroom is nowhere in the neighborhood of posh. There's mud. There's mosquitoes at times. So basically it's pretty imperfect, and I'm going to have to be okay with that. I've mulled over the alternatives to using tires, and nothing comes close for functionality around my stock plants. I'm staying open to suggestions, but let's just say I think you're dreaming on a quick return on investment
We’re you inspired by a tiny chapel in Monroe, Washington?
Moreso the Living Waters Wayside Chapel in Niagara Fall
@Fraser Valley Rose Farm: I’ll have to look that up.😊. There is a Fraser River valley north of Monroe, WA. in British Columbia, Canada.
Thanks - that's where our farm is.
I started looking for ideas for a small chapel FOR religious reasons.. a peaceful place to go to. It’s cute and with charm. However, I think there is more here than you realize. This idea may be for the reasons you said but I bet you there will be something MORE that this little chapel was built for. Just saying!
Can you ring the bell?
That one is more ornamental - the sound is a bit like a cow bell. So we didn't rig anything up to ring it.
While political flags might be a bit much, I wouldn't be offended by religious symbols in the background of your videos.
If anything I'm more offended by people who say things like "merry xmas" or "happy holidays" instead of calling a duck a duck.
Thanks Holzmann. There's an old bit of etiquette advice to avoid talk of politics and religion in mixed company. You could probably add sex and money to the list, and amongst gardeners maybe even invasive species and Round Up! I'd definitely feel free to express my views privately on any of these topics (for what good it would do!) but wedging them into my gardening seems like n unnecessary distraction. In this case, the chapel is meant for a lot of different people to enjoy, and I'd rather let them bring their own spirituality (or lack thereof) to the event . But to your point, if someone wishes me a Merry Christmas I'm very pleased to respond in kind.
So what if it was religious that’s your business and no one else’s. To many people try to make others like they are and I say to them you live your life the way you want and I live mine the way I want. This is MY property.😌
Thanks. If we decided to make it religious, I'd hope everyone would respect that, so I appreciate your sentiment. Lisa and I are pretty happy to leave any spiritual associations (or not) in the hands of the visitors themselves. We'd be just as happy to see guest enjoy a civil ceremony, a casual renewal of vows or just Instagram pics as suits their own inclinations.
You and your wife would have loved this when getting married? Why not get married again?
Great suggestion
I have no problems with you including religion into your videos. I might be the minority, but I figured I’d speak for myself and give you some feedback about that 😊
Thanks Katie
We are getting so politically correct that this guy has to defend himself and claim it's not religious. What if it was dare I say, Christian. STOP GOING ALONG WITH THEIR BRAINWASHING. IT IS FINE TO BE RELIGIOUS. sheeesh!
I'd be fine if you were to say you're a Christian - that's kind of the point: BYOR. Think of it like a hospital chapel or sanctuary - unaffiliated, but suitable for your own spiritual use or reflection (if you so desire).
Did You know that yes you did use religious symbols?
Which one?
Secular vs Christianity.
Why say it's a wedding chapel,.
If your not going to include Christ, just say, wedding structure,
then you'll feel safe so you won't feel youve offended your customers.
Such Sadness that Christ has even been removed in a rose garden.🌷
Your comment is ignorant and extremely offensive.
Apparently you didn't even watch the video.
You do realize that people go to the courthouse and get married by a Justice of the Peace, certified and or licensed marriage officials, and many other legally authorized persons to officiate marriage without any wedding at all.
I guarantee Christ does NOT condemn anyone the way you did here.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Neither roses nor gardening nor marriage are exclusively the domain of one religion or another. I suspect that fewer than half of the guests to our farm are explicitly Christian. If we'd chosen to display some kind of religious affiliation, I suppose I'd want visitors to accept and respect that. There are plenty of beautiful gardens, including the monastery I recently featured, that do display their faith through gardening. We chose to keep it more open to the faith or spirituality that visitors bring along with them (or not, as the case may be). That anyone would take offense to this approach kind of supports my point: I'm just as happy to keep religious debate out of the matter
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm absolutely agree
Totally adorable tiny chapel, surely to put a lot of smiles on so many faces. My only wish would be is that I lived close enough to visit your Rose Garden with its tiny Chapel.. Fantastic share, thanks for all you do. 👍❤️😊
Chapels have always been associated with the Lord.
Exodus 23
8 Thou shalt take no giftes, for giftes blynde the seynge and peruerte the wordes of the righteous.
