- For 53 years, Justo Gallego has been building a cathedral by hand on the outskirts of Madrid almost entirely by himself. Gallego has no formal architecture or construction training, but that hasn't stopped him from toiling on this herculean task. At 90 years old, Gallego knows that he will not be able to finish the project in his lifetime. But he keeps at it anyway, day after day, driven by his faith.

How did he complete the steelwork? The upper dome is something that must have required immense precision, mathematical calculation, and tons of material - not to mention a very powerful will of the individual. I'm simply astounded.

Justo died yesterday, November 28, 2021, at 96 years of age, and according to sources close to him, bedridden after months of ailments. Justo has donated the building that has 4,700 square meters, 35 meters high, a central floor of 50 meters, an underground crypt, two cloisters, a baptistery, 12 60-meter towers, 28 domes and more than 2,000 stained glass windows, to the Messengers of Peace organization, which has already set to work to carry out a plan in which the work can be concluded. R.I.P.

this man is so pure...i looked up his backstory and he went through a lot, including the brutal Spanish Civil War. He is currently dying with tuberculosis. He inherited the land from his parents and has started this project in 1961. This man starts working at 6 am and until 4 pm every single day except Sunday. A priest has described him as very devout as he attends mass every single Sunday. Some people view this cathedral as a tourist attraction, but other lil shits say it an eyesore because he does not have the blessing or the support of the Catholic Church. :( I frankly think ths man is very inspirational, especially since he has a terrible disease and he has built this cathedral with very little help. He's extremely selfless and it makes me so happy.

Don Justo sadly passed away on November 28th. Shortly before his death, he bequeathed his cathedral to the aid organization "Mensajeros de la Paz", which pledged to complete his life's work. Rest in peace Maestro!

This may seem random but I grew up in the church and thought that was the whole religion just going to church every Sunday and eventually stopped going and started to do my own thing. I wanted to find the purpose of life because I knew everything we worked for would pass away. Later on I had a tug on my heart to open up the Bible and saw the Jesus people talked about was completely different from what was in the Bible. I started to draw closer to the higher power and had a supernatural encounter with him and I felt his love and peace and was indescribable and overwhelming almost but was out of this world and everything looked brand new like it was the first time seeing it when I looked outside. His name is Jesus and I’m here to tell you it’s about a relationship not religion and he is real and did die on the cross for you willingly and thinks you as the only person and was thinking of you while dying. All we chase in this life is temporary think about your eternal life.
