I love watching these two skate together. Nile tries so hard we can all see. Liv is flawless and I love seeing her do lifts with Nile. They’re working to their strengths. They’ve got to win this!
It's amazing how he managed to tempt an axel in such short amount of time. Keep it up! Would be thrilled to see him actually doing one successfully before the finale!
I didn’t think this performance had the same energy, but they were working against the music. The opening is dynamic but then the music doesn’t go anywhere. Hopefully they will have better music next week!
As good as it looked, Nile and Olivia seemed to tone down the energy/intensity that they had in their previous performances. It's possible that having the majority of the ice in the dark, may have contributed to their less than full intensity performance. Loosing spatial awareness because you can't see beyond the spot light pointing directly at you can't be easy! Their next performance should be epic‼️👍
Oh bless him although he made the mistake at the end, some of the skills were brilliant. I’m no expert but I don’t think he deserves 8.5 it should’ve been 9 all round, in my opinion. The only problem I saw was he didn’t perform/act the character all the way through like he did in second, third, & fourth skate performances, it was still awesome though. Olivia is incredible. I love these two, they have my votes all the way.
@@lindatannock I love all the contestants this year, but Nile & Olivia are my favourite. I was gutted Darren went but I love Siva as well. I saw two stumbles, but I could be wrong, obviously at the end & when he flipped from his back on the floor to his feet. I just think Carley’s skating skills were a lot simpler than Nile’s, but her character performance was brilliant & better than Nile’s so in my opinion he should have scored 9’s like the others. I think Jayne & Christopher are legends & they obviously know what they’re talking about. It just feels like they hold Nile (probably rightfully so) to a much higher standard, even though he was a novice to ice skating, like the rest of the cast. I felt for him you could tell he was gutted with the performance & marks. I would imagine when you’ve been an Olympian only perfection is good enough, he’s too hard on himself.
@@rehenah He had 35 and two couples had 36, sharing 1st place, so him and Olivia were 2nd (or 3rd, depending how you see things) Which makes me think they should be prouder of there performance, they still got 35 which is enormous and just one point less than the first place :) Plus there were no falls, just little stumbles, and I thought it was really clean and beautiful to watch
Oh I so wanted him to land that axel! But he totally nailed the position in the lift. I didn't see foward momentum this week. But he's still in front. Thank you, Wren, for sharing this. Potomac2Thames.
No matter what scores you get, you both work beautifully together. And Nile you are becoming a real figure skater. Be very very proud. Every performance you've done has been engaging and technically challenging. As a former figure skater, beyond the judges' sound comments, my advice is to pick up your speed a little and enjoy the deep edges and fully extend your body and use your hands for expression.
Chris and Jayne receiving boos is so disrespectful. They are the experts and I believe their scores will help Nile and Olivia far more than the higher scores. Nile is a fighter and when pushed by a lower score than he is capable of he will up the ante. Olivia will too. I bet next week they’ll be a different level. Hope Nile’s dad is ok too. X
I see what the judges meant with the lesser performativity this time, I think they were smiling and changing facial expressions a bit too often for a mission impossible series, they should have been serious and intense throughout. However, I don't really understand the complaint about the lack of partner work. In this routine, they did two or three lifts or assisted balances, and they were skating around each other and literally touching for a good part of it. Maybe he meant it in general, they should add more sequences together, I don't know if Chris and Jayne removed points for this or if it was simply for the out of character moments and the two or three losses of balance from Nile.
I think they're doing great, but I think the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was better, Nile did some really great footwork in that number! It was fun and energetic, which is truly Nile's style. I'd love to see more of that!
I think they're at the point where they're holding him to a higher standard now, they want to see him improve and push the boundaries more every week and the scores have to reflect that.
@@liukin95 I would normally agree with a front runner, but this wasn't the case of him doing well and them just wanting more from him. He was wobbly a couple of times during the routine. He didn't perform the character throughout. There were moments I could see him thinking about the next move. Even the counter balance lift didn't seem to fit the character of the dance. I didn't feel they were holding him to a higher standard. He actually needs to do better than what he did today to get the high scores.
I agree that he was marked down. I'm not sure what he could have done better performance-wise - he was playing a stealthy thief and you could see that in the fluidity of his movements. He broke the character once, at the very beginning, when he smiled after his first succesful jump. He had two small wobbles but was perfectly in synch with Liv throughout and all of his jumps were by far the best we've seen today. I do understand that for the purposes of the show he can't be the top of the leaderboard every week. However, I do not agree with people trying to justify the lower scores.
I thought they had a lot of content in this one just like some of their last performances. Unfortunately, it wasn't skated as cleanly as the others. There were a lot of little bobbles and Nile didn't look as confident here as he has in the past. His performance quality dipped, so I thought the scores were fair. Hopefully this gives him the fire to come back even better next week.
Yeah, I think because they were attempting quite a lot of difficult individual and partner skills and since the music and theme is less dynamic they kind of forgot about the facial expressing aspect of the performance. Nile smiled a few times after landing skills and Olivia was often smiling back, so they need to stay in character more next time. But it's understandable though, it's kid of boring to just look serious and intense for this long
Nile is the only contestant who can actually skate his confidence on the ice is superior to any of the others yeh maybe a few mistakes but his jumps were actually jumps scoring on this show sucks.
I don't know what it is about these two, but their performance leaves me feeling flat. I just don't connect with them at all. Their skates are very technical and advanced and all of that but emotionally I just switch off.
I don't know if you get to choose your song, but I think it would be great if you did a slow song so you could do an emotional maybe even sexy dance together. Show the judges there is another side to you. Keep up the good work we love watching you even in the USA.⛸⛸

Nile is going to be too hard on himself for this one. I can already tell. Heads up, Nile! Brilliant skate, difficult choreo.
That jump up from lying down was cool 👌 And the counter balance lift too!
It's amazing how he managed to tempt an axel in such short amount of time. Keep it up! Would be thrilled to see him actually doing one successfully before the finale!
The judges are just making them work for it for next week.. hopefully something brighter and funky to suit them 🥰

Hope these two win..my faves

He had a few stumbles, that's why J&C marked him lower! Not my fave of their routines, but still the strongest couple by far 😊🏴⛸️

For those watching the whole program…did they lead for the night, or did someone get higher?

They are my favourite pair this series
He absolutely nailed the judges challenge as well!!
Thanks for this @Wren
Go Nile and Olivia! Some bumps on the road this time but nothing too serious, onwards and upwards!
Way to go Nile!!

Omg you were so good at that your partner is very good

Ms. O looks amazing in them leather pants and long blonde hair!!! So beautiful!
phenomenal skating
The lighting was a bit too low for me, it looked cool but I’d have hated to skate in such a low visitability situation.

That was good
I have to say both of them were flawless but I liked last weeks a little bit better

If anything, the song choice / theme was the let down. Nile and Liv always bring it. Next week will be grand!
I thought this was your best performance. The judges are nuts.
Excellent skate Nile and Olivia!
🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰
definitely marked down by Chris and Jane.
I think they are a victim of their own success. They are judged so harshly now because of it.
Rightfully so, this wasn't their best routine.
I think they're at the point where they're holding him to a higher standard now, they want to see him improve and push the boundaries more every week and the scores have to reflect that.

The reason it didn't look as good is because the music wasn't as passionate or intense. If it had have been I bet they would have scored higher.
The energy & intensity was low this week. Impressive but not their best. Well done!
The song (though I like it) wasn't dynamic enough for their kind of energy.

Half of the judging panel doesn't know anything about the figure skating. This was bad and they were overscored big time!
