    I think it's very unfair when others say "oh such and such has got better throughout the competition" and because Nile was good from the start, his journey has not been so marked, etc etc etc. Those of us who've followed Nile and his friends on RUclips know for a fact that not so long ago, Nile Wilson was like Bambi on ice. He spent more time on his back than he did on his skates and his friend Ashley Watson was the star on Ice. I think Nile has improved so much, not only from that not so long ago Bambi on Ice skater, but also during this Competition. He is the only one who has drawn tears from my eyes; once from utter fun, the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang routine, and twice from the emotional, last week and this week. I hope he wins because I honestly believe he deserves it.

      Totally agree. I have followed Nile’s journey since the junior gymnastics ranks till now. His story has been a rollercoaster. All his problems, his dads health scares, his depression and his struggles, to see him like this is awesome. Love it

      I agree...I've been following the Musketeers for a little while (not from the beginning, just a couple of years starting with lockdown), and their vibe of family and friends on their collective channels is heartwarming to witness. Sometimes they do get a bit too chaotic, and often cringe, for me, but that probably has to do with me being the age of his parents. I was surprised when Nile decided to do this show, because he was, indeed, Bambi on ice, during those first videos, so I'm very proud to see how far he's come.

      Well said! There's no-one anywhere near what he's achieved on the show. He's head and shoulders above them all and deserves to win. As a pro myself, I know how difficult what he's doing is. Things a layman might not realise are hard.
      Olivia has done an incredible job bringing the best out in him too. I'm just glad he's found a new outlet in skating, and I hope he keeps going with it. He could compete in adult competitions if he wanted to, for fun 😊💜💜

      I did shed quite a few tears. Just loved that through the routine Olivia just kept playing the part of the person/people who have supported him. I think that’s the other thing I really love about them as a pair. They are so well matched and I genuinely think they are the strongest couple in the competition.

      Having gotten to know of Nile and his story through his and the squads vlogs, then seeing his performances with Olivia, overwhelmed my heart and brought tears to my eyes. It was so brilliantly skated with such emotion on both their parts. And I was so surprised to see Olivia do the sail lift thing to Nile, as he had done to her in their previous performance. Edit: even the way the lighting started out dimmer and then grew brighter as the song/performance progressed was wonderfully done. And the way Olivia looked at him at the end. So moving.

  • @LynxChan
    @LynxChan Год назад +165

    The best thing about this is seeing Nile get his spark back. Even in the vlogs he looks so lost sometimes, this life of training, striving, competing, performing is where he grew up and I think it must feel like coming home to him.

    As a figure skating fan and a Nile Wilson fan, separately, it is bizarre in the best way possible to see the two intersect like this! And, to see him progress in the sport this quickly? I'm shocked and amazed at him. That butterfly looks so good and I wouldn't be surprised if he can pull off a single axel landed perfectly soon, too. I love watching him skating because he can truly entertain and inspire. I only hope, hope, hope he doesn't give up skating after the show ends. He looks like he truly enjoys it!

    Im only watching this years DOI all because Nile is on it, and was hoping to see him fight like he used to for his gymnastics, and I'm so pleased he has made the final and his level of skating just epitomises his hard work and determination, and is miles above the others. This dance brought a tear to a grown man's eyes, was a stunning and emotional skate. Lets hope he wins the final.

    Seeing his journey over the gymnastics, and then his time after it has been really challenging for Nile. He is always so open about his struggles with his mental health, family life, the total devastation after he had to retire early from the sport he loved so much. To see him doing this is a joy. I know it is feeding his competitive nature. What a performance tonight. He totally has my backing, Nile for the win 🥇 🏆 ❤

    And they've done it again!! So proud of Nile. He was always going to be the best of the bunch technically, and he's openly talked about his mental struggles before, but Olivia's helped him express those emotions in movement which looks so liberating.
    I never once thought they wouldn't make it to the final, and I really hope they win this, but in a way I feel this journey is more important than their final placement in the competition.

    Nile has had to dig very deep in the past. He’s tenacious and never gives up and it’s paying dividends for him yet again on DOI. His documentary about his mental health journey is well worth watching and a look in to the world of elite sports people and what they have to deal with. His TED talk is just amazing too. Your perfect score is so well deserved and Olivia is just fantastic at what she has helped him to achieve on DOI. Also their personalities are so perfectly complemented by each other. Will really miss seeing her in some of his RUclips vlogs. They are two of Yorkshire’s greats and they make us Northerners incredibly proud. Good luck for next week both of you. X

    One aspect of winning medals in a competition whether it's a local level or the Olympic Games is that everyone who gets a medal is a winner and anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the true nature of the games and the goals for each athlete. You have athletes who will never earn an Olympic medal but the fact that they are even at the Olympics is a major achievement and a win for them and their country. For other athletes it's achieving their highest placement in a competition which should be celebrated. The media, Olympic coaches or higher ups in each sport in their given country need to stop looking at anything other than a gold medal is losing. It crushed me to hear that the media immediately started asking Shawn Johnson and other athletes who didn't get the gold how they felt losing it and how they let everyone down. It's no wonder so many athletes are dealing with mental health issues, anxiety, body image issues, anorexia, bulimia, low self-esteem and other addictions because of the mental, emotional, physical, and verbal abuse they have suffered for years while trying to please the people who should be protecting them as they work towards their dreams and goals.

    Honestly, whether he wins or loses this competition, I think Nile has sparked something inside of him that he forgot about. Gymnastics yes is a lot of strength, but there is creativity to it as well and I think that's something that he's been missing. He has the technical prowess that if he wanted to, he could become a really good ice dancer or even just a regular dancer. Hell, if he really wanted to push himself, he could be a good figure skater I'm sure. I hope whatever he does after this competition puts as much joy into his life as this has.
