While watching uploads of "Prisoner" over the past few weeks, I came to sense that the person playing the role of Lexie was authentically of a Bohemian and Renaissance background, and that background exuded as source of inspiration within that performance. Marie Trevor became the producer in episode 495 and Pepe appeared as Lexie in episode 509, I find it really hard to believe that her mom wasn't involved in her casting.
@@TalkingPrisoner I'm in the process of watching all of the interviews and I'm on my 3rd watch of the entire series. I was a huge fan of Wentworth and a friend from England suggested Prisoner and I found it here on RUclips. I was addicted instantly. I would think that her mother and she both would be very sensitive to people chiming in their opinion that she was handed the role, and gave it a lot of thought before she was cast. She brought a very interesting aspect to the show as did all the characters. She absolutely carried her part and carried her weight.
From what Pepe explained about Louise Siversen, it now makes more sense as to why Louise was not happy about Lou Kelly being portrayed by another actor in Wentworth. Basically Louise Siversen was/is Lou Kelly!
@@TalkingPrisoner I just watched Louise's interview again the other day too, and she's great. These ladies in their 60s seem like they're in their 40s! I guess prison life didn't weather them too much lol.
She 'wasn't happy about Wentworth' because she hadn't seen it nor did she see the effort that Kate Box actually put into the character. We can agree to disagree on this one but Louise needs to actually see the portrayal, because the character of Lou was always pretty terrifying and pretty violent, so it wasn't much of a change really. This is coming from someone who has watched both Wentworth and Prisoner but fell in love with Wentworth. Lou Siversen may "have been Lou first" but Kate Box just knocked it out of the park imo.

Wentworth was a great production (up until the last two series) but lacked the spirit and soul Prisoner had. That show was of it's time and something special. I'm still getting over it's axing over 36 years later
I don't think it was ever supposed to be the "same soul" it had the references and everything, but for the people (like me) who watched both and fell in love with the other, it was the sense of pushing more boundaries, watching a prison drama in the "now era", doing the stuff Wentworth did and doing it well. For me I fell in love with the characters and actor a lot easier, and just the way Wentworth made people go searching for Prisoner meant they were doing things right
I wish Prisoner had run for another 4 years or so, so that it had made it into the 1990s. I loved watching the changing fashions on the show between 1978 and 1986.
Finally... all good things to those who wait. That was just great and Pepe is gorgeous. Lexie's smile always warmed my soul and it's still there! Wow. Lexi was one of my favourite characters in the show. Fantastic to see Pepe doing an interview for this channel. Also - people say the Boy George craze was out of date by the time Lexi started on the show, but I've checked the dates and actually it was only about 6 months after he was most famous, so I don't think that accusation is really true.
One of your very best interviewees to date (and I'm not even a Lexie fan!) But she was one of the longest running characters and that impact/involvement in the show certainly comes through. Did you get to ask her what it felt like to have an actor playing her in the film "Holding The Man" a few years ago?
I was going to mention that! I couldn't believe it when I found out the real Pepe Trevor was being portrayed in a biopic by another actress, I'd love to see Holding The Man - I think I did see a clip of Pepe herself discussing the story behind it but unfortunately I've never come across the film itself.
What an incredible human being Pepe is. I could never fully get on side with Lexie because of the very apparent moral fickleness she had, but hearing how Pepe was given these plots she had to "make work" is revealing. Very funny too, but no doubt challenging for the actress to achieve. The vivaciousness she brought to the role was undeniable though.

I'm yet to see Part 2, but I remember reading a long time ago that Pepe was planning a third book titled "My Mother's Death" - which going off what she says during this interview would be an absolute must-read, especially for anyone who really loved "Listening For Small Sounds". I guess I'll find out if you got around to mentioning that in the next part but just out of curiosity, did you ever plan to ask her about that or did you decide against it, seeing as she seems to have shelved the idea?
Not gonna lie, Lexie was not my favourite character but that's completely unrelated to the fact that Pepe herself is clearly a very gracious and sweet person.
You do mean "very well", surely? I actually think Pepe now looks a lot more like her mum, (which wasn't as apparent when she was younger as her mum had her quite late). It's a nice thing to see, and the way she still talks about the strong bond they had is heartwarming.
Pepe Trevor played the most annoying character of all time. Mind you with her mum producing and directing the show nepotism kicks in and we got a clown inmate.
Just a fantastic interview that I’ve been so excited to see… what Pepe quoted “with the sweets come the bitter”‘really resonated. What a wonderful and spiritual human, with a fantastic back story which could be a movie itself! This interview was so uplifting and engaging.💜🥹

sadly prisoner introduced lexi to late as by this time the "Culture Club" hysteria had moved on I think lexis first episode was Feb 1985,
I think Lexi's haircut was one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in prisoner Cell Block H
no one was ever really sure whether it was her real hair or a wig
I have to say I'm a hairdresser and I couldn't tell LOL
I'm now watching episode 509 and can now see what pepe had disscribed
The use of the headband hides the hair piece it's a technique which is still used today in hairdressing
Thank you Gents this lady is my favourite prisoner star as well as Amanda muggleton 😀😀😀😀😀
Good point re Culture Club. I agree, Boy George had long since left behind the braids/plaits and ribbons
@@markhenderson2019 Boy George says in his autobiography when Culture Club toured Australia in 1984 it was mob scenes George went back a few years later to Australia and no one recognised him he said there was a looney fan and 1 TV news crew LOL he said how quick they forgot.
@@nixx195 I know right, I've read his first autobiography multiple times - it's all committed to memory!! Amanda Muggleton is up there for me too
@@markhenderson2019 I use to sit outside his house as a kid LOL it was the 80s we all looked like lexi so was fun.
Boy George's book is an amazing read
" Chrissie Latham" is me LOL 😆 love her Cockley 1 liners, I've always wanted to meet Amanda she looks fun,
I am a huge fan of Boy George and Culture Club. Thank you so much for your kind words.
Did anyone pick up what Pepe said just at the end about Bud Tingwell and how he was able to cope with the stress? She said he said it was because of his ….. . I just couldn’t pick up the word.
If you give me the time on the video, I'll have a listen to it and see if I can pick up the word.
@@ajs41 in finding you the clip time, I’ve managed to work it out. She said Bud was kept grounded “because of his wife Audrey”
I just couldn’t make out “wife Audrey” at all before and listened to it several times. I was watching the interview on my big TV and it was only when I used my mobile to check was I able to make it out.
Thanks for your offer nevertheless!
Cheers.

Loved Lexie
I'm yet to see Part 2, but I remember reading a long time ago that Pepe was planning a third book titled "My Mother's Death" - which going off what she says during this interview would be an absolute must-read, especially for anyone who really loved "Listening For Small Sounds".
I guess I'll find out if you got around to mentioning that in the next part but just out of curiosity, did you ever plan to ask her about that or did you decide against it, seeing as she seems to have shelved the idea?
I often wonder whether she means she wore a wig just for the hair cutting scene, or that it was a wig for the whole time Lexie had longer hair.
Where can we see her art.... tried looking her website up... but couldnt access it...?
i think i need Pepe as my new best friend, such warmth, always a favourite of mine, my x girlfriend named her bear after Pocco
Not gonna lie, Lexie was not my favourite character but that's completely unrelated to the fact that Pepe herself is clearly a very gracious and sweet person.
If her hair was not white, I swear she would look nearly as young as she did in Prisoner.
I wld have loved growing up in a tent!!
It's weird how she's totally different as a person than Lexie.
Always had to switch the volume down when Lexie or Bobbie opened their mouths.
She likes talking with her hands
Wow - I can see it's her, but I can't believe how she's aged !
Well, it's nearly 40 years later! Everyone ages over that time.
Ads every 3 or 4 minutes - a real difficult watch.
Yeah, sadly its getting unbearable. But I don't blame the guys for wanting to monetise the videos
@@DistantCousin No indeed
Just a fantastic interview that I’ve been so excited to see… what Pepe quoted “with the sweets come the bitter”‘really resonated. What a wonderful and spiritual human, with a fantastic back story which could be a movie itself! This interview was so uplifting and engaging.💜🥹
Thank you so much for your kind words. Did you enjoy the Lexi era on Prisoner ?
@@TalkingPrisoner I actually did enjoy that era, I know some fans aren’t keen on the penultimate era, but that whole Rita, (latter Lexie and Julie) Lurch group was probably my favourite and Lexie was so sassy! I can’t remember the exact scene but she gets caught red handed doing something and blurts “oh bloody hell, rack off!” So reactive and in the moment.
