Petula Clark really changed the world actually with her art. When she sang she really wanted it to reach the ears of the world. For me as a kid in third grade when “Downtown” was a hit, it kept me sane during a very rough family life. I loved her then and I love her now and I’m so happy she is the person she is. Her art translates universally into beauty and life. I thank her for it
Oh! My! There is not any female singer past or present that I have loved more than Petula Clark. The first time I heard "Down Town" I became a life long fan. There is never a song on any of her albums that I don't like. There is just nothing she cannot sing. I actually got to see her on stage in Las Vegas during the 80's. It was a magical night for me. I had a wonderful seat and I wanted to get up and tell her how special she was, but of course did not do that, just wanted to. I was a little surprised at how tiny she was. I have asked my family to play Down Town at my service when I pass, that is how much I love it. God Bless her! Such talent God gave her, and she used it so wisely.
Petula Clark's talent is unrivaled as an artist of many aspects but it will always be the fearlessness that I heard in her songs and the way that she delivered them with everything on the line that will continue to inspire me.
An awesome lady , the Brits would never let her grow up they loved the little girl in the Huggets and they wanted her to remain that sweet little English rose ,so she went to France to grow up and she became an international singing star around the world , but I dont think we ever forgave her . Its time to recognise her for what she is a singing legend , we have rightly honoured Andrews , Bassey , and Lynn now its time to do the proper thing and add Petula Clark to that list before its too late .
Petula Clark ought to be in the so called Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Shows you what a sham that museum/mausoleum is.
Downtown is about the love of the city at night...it can cheer you up at the end of the day....
She is currently still performing on stage in 2021 at the age of 88, playing the Bird Woman in the West End production of Mary Poppins. Incredible.
I loved her songs and voice since the 60’s and still do. I’ve never gotten tired of her music.

Petula Clark is to music what Audrey Hepburn was to film 100% pure class.
I was a teenager when I heard "Downtown" and became a lifelong fan of Petula Clark. Even my parents's generation liked her.
What a special lady. A gift from God to all who listen and watch. God given talent!
This lady is still drop dead gorgeous. I’m watching in 2021
A talent for 7 decades and running.
I am so fond of Petula and her incredible talents. What a legacy she gave to us.
I was a teenager back in the 1960's and remember Petula being all over American television singing her great songs.
