I appreciate it. Looks good. Loaded, it's right at $100k, 760 HP, 460 miles, removable rear glass, removable mid-gate, charges at Tesla Looks like it checks off all the right boxes. Wish you could get SOME color on the interior
I just did a 2300 mi road trip in my 4WT Silverado EV. I can verify at EA and EV go I could add 150kw in 40 min and my best was 188kw (10-96%) in 59 minutes. Charges at 350-370 for a few minutes then settles at 300kw for a long time. at 90% and above it will still pull 60kw. at 70-75mph I could go 350mi safely between charges and at 80mph in 30 degree weather 320 was about it. I never let it get below 10%. Super impressed with the truck.
Have you had your truck of road (or at least a deeply rutted or steep incline decline)? There is a video on Motor Trend when they compare it to the Rivian RT1 that has me very concerned. I know I only hit roads like that 2-3 time a year and it its only a few sections, but....... Of course dealers will not let you take a truck test drive "off road." Putting my purchase on hold until I can get a better idea of limitations.
Alex, We know you are very particular about the musical selections you display on the 'infotainment' screen. I do hope you choose "High Sierra" from the Trio of Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harrs you get the Sierra EV back to your home base for a week of testing . 😁
That opening shot looking down the nose of the truck really shows how absurd the forward visibility is. Over compensating truck guys have made roads so much more dangerous for showing the market that trucks like this will sell.
1st Edition Sierra Denali owner here.. I am perplexed on why you would compare the Sierra to Rivian. A Rivian is a midsize pickup, similar to a Tacoma. If you want to draw fair comparison you got the Lightning and the Cybertuck until other full-size EV pickups hit the market
Rivian does not charge nearly as good as this truck, so the GMC would be better on road trips and with the Supercruise on pulling a trailer. This truck is my preference!
It's tricky because although the Rivian doesn't hit as many kW into the pack, it's higher efficiency means that for 30 minutes of charging you'll go about the same distance.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide That’s not true. Rivian says 140mi in 20 min, Sierra can do 200mi in 20min. Actually it holds the curve so long it’s close to 300mi in 30min. Look at Out of Spec Reviews channel’s charging curve data for the Silverado…particularly the 70mph highway range added per minute of charging. In 30min Rivian added 200mi and Silverado 290ish. Chev/GMC blows away the Rivian, they’re not playing on the same playground. It seems like some Rivian bias here, it can’t compete with GM charging. Travis, do you own a Rivian by chance?
Actually I have seen a Silverado EV (identical brother of this) and it did VERY WELL. It crushed the other vehicle and very little was done to the Silverado EV. The steel frame the battery sits in makes it INCREDIBLY strong. I was very much impressed. I did not expect it.
You already drive so big vehicles on that side of the pond, so I don't think it matters much. Of course you have Bolts etc, but mostly trucks and SUVs which are not so far away... Tahoe, Highlander, F-150..?
The cargo versatility with the mid gate is awesome, so is the on board 120 and 240v AC power. I wish these features were available on something of a smaller package... like the colorado or even something as small as the original S10. Even a 'first gen' Colorado size EV truck would be great as a daily, efficient, and could tow a good amount. I'm thinking landscape equipment, motorcycle, a small pop-up camper etc. It sucks that these big tanks are the only thing really selling right now.
GM was planning for a mid sized EV pickup by 2026 but not sure about those plans with how everyone is reacting to the slowdown. Sure they will still make it but could be out a few years later.
Alex, you should report/test the braking of these electric behemoths. Braking becomes more important than acceleration with vehicles this absurdly heavy.
I posted a comment on one of Alex's videos saying I prefer this location for the charge port for better supercharging and that I'd never seen curbside charging. Well I still prefer the the charging location but I went to a City in Northern California last week and sure enough they had several curbside chargers in their small downtown. However, it was more expensive than gas by my calculation so it didn't seem like something you would use unless you really were desperate. I hear some think that you should always be charging, but not at those prices.
I wish they had a compact ev truck. I don't need anything that big, just something to haul a motorcycle/atv/ in the bed, not want to necessarily tow a trailer. Maybe Colorado sized. And I don't want a Maverick. Maybe a Toyota Stout hybrid pickup, but Toyota dealers have the worst dealer network with some of the most egregious pricing I've ever seen in any Texas Toyota dealer.
Headlight through the screen is the least of the problems. You can't keep the truck on when you open a door. It is infuriating in real life. Open the door to grab the mail or put something in the back and it shuts off. Open the door and throw the keys inside while doing something and it turns on. The google based interface is my biggest complaint with mine. Just wasn't thought through.
@@SnappyWasHere Nope - depress the accelerator petal three times then hit the break petal to start - the truck will stay on even if you leave the truck - manual shut off on the screen.
@@kelviskelvis7140 This is true but then it is two taps of the screen to shut it off and it will still auto start when throwing the keys in the cup holder while I am doing something. And heaven forbid you drive it on a cold morning, the camera in the windshield thinks the windshield is dirty when it’s just a tiny amount of fog inside. Will remind you every minute that the camera is blocked. They should have never let google near this thing.
The front of this makes me think of some sort of Temu Transformers knockoff. Maybe it looks better in person. That price though, wow, seems like a 50% premium over a similar ICE model.
No, GM electrifying vehicles with the best profit margin and least competition. Electric luxury cars are in abundance, but EV trucks with packs this size...there's only one...or three depending on how you count the different GM brands.

I am waiting for the cheaper trim level. Love the truck but do not want the Denali trim. Don't like all the chrome and the price is WAY out of my price range. I have a 2020 GMC AT4 with Duramax now.
Just dollars out da window…huge investment for making a ton of ev’s that won’t sell and depreciate like crazy. Better 2 make very few and very great….the game in EV for GM and Chevy is lost before it’s begun
Why 3 EV trucks? Because after spending the last 25 years focusing primarily on selling pickup trucks, that's really all their design and engineering groups know how to make anymore.
everyone has the point on carplay, i dont think it has to be mentioned on each EV. Anyone who refuses to own a vehicle without it already likely knows about this and has already told the world how they cant possibly own any GM EV (except lyriq or hummer).
Where is the Hazard light button??? You have to rummage through the screen to find it??? There should be a law requiring a physical Hazard light button in every vehicle either the driver or the front passenger could hit instantly.

Charging it to 100 percent does way more damage to the battery than discharging it to low state of charge.
