Wild caught Betta Siamorientalis from Vietnam

- These are two males Betta Siamorientalis from Long An, Vietnam. They are locally found with Betta Imbellis and in some area that is probably definite interbreeding. These Males are particularly large with a strong body, they also resemble Splendens so it is interesting to know if they have any wild splendens genes in them.

Like mahachai .. they believe mahachai is new species , as for me they are not , they are easily result from crossbreed wild betta splenden with old style betta fighter . Because old style betta fighter's green is different with nowadays green betta fighter , thats why you can see one of this siamorientalis has metalic green like mahachai's green metalic . But what nature has made and produce , only nature can know , hard for us to know exactly because times for them appear like now need long long times .

Hello, these fishes are beautiful. I am just wondering that you caught these fishes in wild field in Long An, Vietnam or you got it from a seller? I had one with same pattern but my fish's dorsal not have that good and strong color. Can you show me where you got them ^^ ?
My friend in VN caugth them in the feild in Long AN. There are slight variation from one area to the next in size and finnage

Siamorientalis is very beautiful , this is identified a new species , as for me this is just wild betta splenden from vietnam , and may had been crossbreed to fighter in the past , because in era 90's vietnam fighter also populer in my country with fast fighting style and very sharp teeth .
And many betta fighter in vietnam still old style betta fighter body shape . Not like thailand and malaysia and indonesia betta fighter body shape and color . Vietnam betta fighter is 90's style betta fighter but nowadays they have been import thai dan malaysia fighter to crossbreed with their old stock .
Bentuk fisik mereka(siamorientalis Vietnam) cenderung ke Betta imbelis sedangkan cupang Allam splenden body nya lebih pendek tebal dan sirip nya pendek. Di wilayah saya masih banyak di jumpai wild Betta splenden dan saya sangat beruntung masih dapat menemukan mereka dengan mudah di rawa-rawa tempat saya tinggal, mereka sangat liar dan cantik 🥰🥰😍😍
You are not the only person I have heard who thinks this, while I considered it possible until they did genetic testing that proves Mahachai and Siam are in fact there own species, but that makes me wonder how fast could a new species evolve in the fish world?..

I have some very interesting imports from the South Mekong Delta In southern Vietnam.. they look like large Imbellis with green face but they are thicker and have reduced body iridescent compared to most Imbellis.. definitely still wild and neat fish though hybrids. From what I gather the “pure” locations are becoming fewer and farther apart.
So is this their version of a pissing contest?
