This video is nearly the most informative I've ever seen in the topic. I keep bettas since the end of the 90's and some other tropical species. During this time I didn't know they are native even in Borneo, for me this more than interesting while I am veteran in the hobby. I also find very interesting that the breeders here in Hungary sell only betta splendens. For us that is the betta, other betta types just exist elsewhere. I wonder if it's because of the nano tank fashion or else. 🤔
Your comment means a lot to us. Much encouraging for the efforts spent. ❤️❤️ Yes, most of other countries have domesticated betta types. Native wild breeds are hard to find, also they are not attractive and colorful as much as domestic types for buyers.
Yeah it's clear you do something educational with these videos which is great thing to do. Watch for example any video of Finatic, he call himself Fishtuber while all he does is build boats from crap material and sail on them. I recommended him to do some fish stuff he denied answer...I guess it's time to unsuscribe from his chanel and stay on yours. 🥰
@@Jack_Splendens Finatic is big boy! Often big creators targets wider audience than keeping it informative and niche focused. Honestly it’s very hard to grow in RUclips by focusing only on freshwater fish niche. Glad you appreciate our efforts. Welcome to Aqua Diary Squad! ❤️👍
very good vid, that's a lot of bettas. there seems to be no way to get these fish in the usa. we need a betta farm. the wild varieties are much more desirable than the crazy hybrids that are sold here. my fav is the malachi green bettas.
Glad you like the video. I’m in USA as well. I have imported them few times from Asia. It’s absolutely possible with little extra money on transshipping cost. 👍👍

Paradise fish are fierce Southeastern Asian air gulping fish closely related to Bettas and Gouramis. I always thought it would be a close fight between a male Plakta Betta and male Paradise fish through I would never intentionally fight them ?
@@ronaldgrove3283 I did put Paradise with Betta fish, you can seen them flaring eachother in below video about paradise fish. Ofcourse, I put it for couple of minutes and removed them before start attacking. ruclips.net/video/6wUwcTzOVsg/видео.htmlsi=qEKbB7UBcon47PAG
So should there a be maximum size for betta tanks? Several people here say that a betta gets stressed if the tank is larger than 50 litres (13 gallons), but I have seen and heard of male bettas kept in tanks of 100+ litres (26 gallons) that not only show no signs of stress, but also become less territorial and aggressive towards other fish, and I know of people who manage to keep two males in the same 100/120 litre tank without fighting: they spontaneously divide up their territory and each one is quiet in his own part
that’s right. Bigger the tank is better. If tank is really big with lot of hiding spots and plants, betta will start owning his small territory. Even if they encounter eachother, often one will backoff quickly and move on as it’s lot of space to hide. This is what happens in wild. At the same time, if you have 50 gallon tank with no plants or hiding spots, it’s going to stress your fish because he need to swim more height to gulp air. Also they love resting spots near the water surface.
Honestly it’s hard bro. It’s depends on where are you. Betta that sold for $1 in Asian countries are sold even over $30 in USA. So it’s hard to talk about price, but I can talk about rarity specific type or breed.
Yes, but shrimps in betta tank is risk as betta attack and eat shrimps sometime. If you really love your shrimps or rare breed, don’t put them with betta. I keep shrimps in betta tank, but I’m ok if betta eat them as they reproduce a lot.
Please pronounce the name properly they are called bet-ta not bate-ta or better yet siamese fighting fish common name or betta splendens Been in the aquarium hobby over 50 years and if memory serves there are at least 73 different species of bettas in the wild.
I been around multiple countries specially for Betta importing. I seen USA and few west countries call Bet-tuh. Someother part of Asian countries call them Bay-tuh. In my opinion it doesn’t matter. It’s depends on where you live Eric. 👍 Agree on the types, there are many. I have few major wild betta types documented as video. Hope you get chance to check that out. 👍 ruclips.net/video/FPTcMnjr44o/видео.htmlsi=nchaUNcT0YsNNWmu

The pictures you put of “betta splendens” are not actually betta splendens but of a mouth brooding species
Can you pointout which timeframe of the video are you referring?
