- This started out in one direction, and -- as so many of my videos have lately -- ended up in a different solar system completely. I picked the wrong foil for the look I wanted, and a lot of other things happened, as well. I used the positive and negative images of transfer foil from @ArtisticPaintingStudio , but the foil gods laughed their a**es off at me in this experiment.

Well, my choice of foil was pretty questionable… What color foil would you have picked??
Since it was on a dark cup. Maybe a brighter color. I just got this really pretty pink foil.
I still think it looks great though and putting the vinyl on really made it pop.

Love the experiment with positive and negative - maybe try running it through the laminator more than once - sometimes I get a better release :)

I can imagine just what you were going for, but you did manage to pull off an amazing cup even though the foil Gods did not cooperate with you today. That is impressive. It is beautiful in the end but I found the oil slick foil to be a bit lackluster when I used it. I'm pretty sure I have more I just haven't wanted to even try anything with

I actually like the distressed "metal" look of the middle band. I'd be interested in seeing a whole cup done like that with some bright electric color accents.

I don’t have a lot of foil experience but I wonder if you would have rubbed the foil flower parts right out of the laminator, the way you would traditionally, if you could have gotten more release. Still a beautiful cup and genius idea!

It probably wouldn't work, but I'm wondering if you've ever tried printing with the inkjet on the inkjet waterslide paper for this technique. Just curious if you've tried it. Thanks Cindy! 😊
Thanks and great question! The foil doesn’t stick to inkjet printing, only to black laser toner plus heat and pressure from the laminator.

To do the foil waterslides, you need inkjet waterslide decal paper to print in a laser printer, no inkjet printer required.
Still a pretty cup, I like your concept but those foils can be confounding at times 🫤
