    Guys, this week I wanted to do a walk through of the 18 KC HiLites Cyclone LED lights that I have installed. I use them for front signals, on the bumper with a magnet, bolted inside the front fenders, inside my EVO rock rails, bolted to my Poison Spyder tire carrier, under the rear of my Jeep, and inside my tail gate under my Tuffy Security deck.
    I really like to have good lighting when I am out on the trail at night or the late evening and the KC Cyclones offer really good illumination coupled with versatility for installation.

    Well done. Really good use of the cyclones. Love the magnetic mounts, so many options. Wiring may be a challenge for me. When I get closer to swapping out my Oracles I’ll hit you up with my questions. Thanks for sharing and be safe.🇺🇸

    Why didn't you do a demo of the lights turned on outside at night?

      agreed, would like to see if the mounting locations Casey250 chose worked or not.................

    Based on your video I picked these up. I noticed they get really hot fairly quickly. I had another idea for more lights, but would be mounted on plastic. Since these lights get so hot, would you recommend the lights installed on plastic? Would I need to add another material to act as a heat shield buffer?

    Finally! I got that knows what he's doing with wiring.... To access reverse and interior light circuit... Where did you tap in..... By lights or fuse box?

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  5 лет назад +2

      I tapped in to the harness just as it enters the cabin on the passenger side footwell, which was then used as the positive goiing to my switch that then runs back to a either trigger a relay (for reverse circuit) or the trigger for the control box on my KC RGB lights. I can't recall the color code of the wires off the top of my head, the reverse I look at the color of the wire at the tail light and traced it back, the interior light I found by googling. The harness wire colors to vary by year so even if I had the colors its possible to not be the same on yours. Once I was fairly sure I had the right wire, I cut it, and tested it. If it was wrong it would be an easy solder and heat shrink to repair it, but I got them correct.

    You seem to have an intimate relationship with the factory harness. I can wire up accessories all day and have them work on a switch by themselves. I can’t figure out how to put my reverse lights on a switch. My goal is to still have them come on when in reverse, but also be able to turn them on from a switch when I’m not in reverse. Any experience or ideas? Thanks.

      That is exactly how mine work. I use a 3 position on-off-on switch i ordered on Ebay. The switch has two source terminal and a load terminal. One source is the reverse circuit that i tapped into. Second source is positive from battery. Load goes to the relay that triggers the lights I use for reverse. What you end up with is a switch that can be toggled as you described - on as automatic in reverse, off, on manually as needed.

    Can you show how you did the wiring and stuff?

      I'm going to be installing another set in another Jeep sometime in the near future and I'll record it. If you check out my KC RGB rock light video, I use alot of the same paths for running wiring. The biggest difference is the RGB lights have a controller box, and the cyclones run off a bus bar.

      @@Casey250 so is there a relay or fuses somewhere in that line or is just battery-bus bar-switch-light?

    On the video at 13:14 what magnets are those you used to hold the wires?

  • @Txburn1
    @Txburn1 5 лет назад

    I have had several cyclones fail me lately. How have yours been holding up? First one to go was in the engine compartment from under hood kit, they repaired it under the kc warranty, but now 2 that I’m using as a 3rd brake light are failing with several dead leds showing up in the ring. The under hood light was a complete burn out. Don’t think I want to continue with them, to much of a hassle to get approval and send back for warranty.

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  5 лет назад

      I had 1 loose 2 LED chips on it and that is it. Sorry to hear about the bad luck :( KC's warranty is pretty good as well as their customer service, but swapping broke parts is always a pain for sure! I haven't seen anything with the versatility for mounting though that would compete for some of the install cases that I use them for.

    I'm looking to do cyclones as reverse lights I have the EVO Pro series bumper and the EVO rock skins armor I'm wondering if I would need a special harness? I was considering doing the magnet thing but don't want a exposed wire.

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  5 лет назад +1

      You can buy the single cyclones and wire them yourself - they are just a 2 wire positive and negative, super simple. I hid the wires I put on my tire carrier buy drilling a hole for the wire behind the light, and another hole for the bolt. Super clean. I just use magnets in some harder spots, but on my front bumper it would be easy to permanently mount them too.

    Hey Casey thanks for posting. I have one question. Why dont you wire the under hood light to the hood switch so that the light comes on when you open the engine compartment?

      I would need to add a hood switch on my Jeep. However, ya, definitely a good idea. KC makes a hood switch kit I beleive.

    Do you just hook the reverse lights into your stock wiring harness?

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  5 лет назад +3

      I spliced into the stock harness to a relay. The relay then triggers 4 cyclones when I go into reverse.

      Casey_250 Yhank you. This was very instructive and just the information I need to get some extra lighting in my Jeep. Back up lighting is just about useless from the factory
