Hey man I don’t think it’s an old school thing. I picked up 6 appolo pros to put on their 50” light bar mount. Round definitely looks and performs better.
100% agree. I like round old-school lights a lot more than cubes and bars. the only thing that would make this bar even cooler would be some smiley face covers, but anything KC is cool and I love the look of this on your rig. it also doesn't look like it lights up your hood too badly which is awesome. I can't swing this light bar but I will be putting a couple of round KC lights in a bumper bar down the line - old-school cool and not over the top. dig it.
The lights look fantastic on your JK. Really change the look from the long thin rectangular LED bars. I like that they actually consume much less power than the other type and put out so much light, that's impressive. I've run their lights for more than 20 years and I've never had one go out on me. And I have plenty of desert night miles on my TJ as well. One thing about off road lights and the cops; they do like to pull you over for uncovered off-road lights. I was caught driving through Death Valley without covers (they were back at camp) a few years ago by one of the local park rangers. He was pretty cool about it, he said if I had tools to aim my lights up to the sky, then and there, he would help me adjust them up and not give me a fix-it ticket. We chatted as we adjusted them there, and it turned out he was a wheeler also.
Great to hear about your long term experience with KC! I will be carrying my covers will me just incase someone wants to give me a hard time about it. I've heard some horror stories about folks being fined $50 per light that wasn't covered.... that can add up fast!
This is what I always wanted.. love the positions of the leds!! Close together and doesn't sit too high.. just a bit pricey!! Glad you got them!! I'll live through you!!! Lol
I really do like the fact that they are not sitting way above the roof line, I think the mounts set them in the perfect spot. Looking forward to sharing more videos with you guys about them!
Wayyyyy better than standard light bar. Definitely gives the Jeep a Classic look with modern function. Everyone knows the KC brand and worth every penny. Their warranty says it all when it comes to quality.
Awesome, this is the same light bar I've been looking at for our 2017 JK! Thanks for the video, now my wife knows how the light bar will look on the Jeep.
Just the light bar I am looking for. I would like to find a higher mount though. I'm not tall or anything. I just like the way it looks up higher. On another note, I noticed your fowled anchor. I'm retired HMC. Thanks for your service, Brother.
I was an IDC. Did 26 years (First 2 reserve). Now I am a Medical Services Officer with MSC. Still sailing. Still serving. I'm on a tanker for now. T-AO 195. No more sand box for me. Haha
Nice initial review on the lights.. I think they look great! Also thanks for commenting on the lack of road noise/whistling that you get square bars. Thumbs up!
I have the KC light bar 50 inch square bar I love the KC. the light bar I have so brighter then any light out there putting 90,000 lumens. also have other brands on my rig but nothing like the KC light. but the price I payed was about $1000. but it was worth every penny.
My first 4x4 was a 1983 Chevy SWB fleet side truck. No such thing as LED lights back then. Round off road lights was the only real choice. I think this is one of the reasons I like the round off road lights over the squarish LED light bars. KC was my fav back then and was the first off road light I put on my Jeep, but the LED light bars were just so much brighter than the incandescence KC lights.
Those lights are so cool! Way better than the current light bar style. I've been wanting to find an old set of original KCs and see if they can be converted to LED. Me having an old school YJ, the old classic style would suit it much better than what I have now. Also, thank you for your service sir. I have two sons in the Air Force.
Thanks for the review, I love the look of this light bar. I can't wait for the follow up to see how you like this after living with it for a while. Keep up the great work
Those KC lights look awesome! After watching your video, I ordered the Apollo Pro 6 Halogen 6-light set today. Thanks for the discount code! It brought the $779 price tag down to $623. A couple of weeks ago I installed the Rhino Rack Pioneer Rack after watching your install video and review (I’ll post some comments there).
Brad I just received news do to me always checking on line to see when DV8s lightbar bracket would be ready and last week was the week! It was delivered yesterday! The KC gravity pro 6 system was just sitting in my garage unboxed until yesterday! Your installation instructions were just a view into an idea of what will come in my JL installment. 2 hours later it’s complete being able to run electric connection of lights right down the bracket which I was lucky fit like a glove right under hood and straight to the S Pod! Between the Rhino Rack platform system I saw you install on your JK (another video fellas and gals). I mean I’m just glad I did it. Total love the look and really changed the look. Today installment of my blackout hood. Just the raised part 👍🤗 Thanks again for another great video!
Nice review. I will say, for those of you thinking of running your wires through the roof under the freedom panels, I wouldnt advise it. These Jeeps leak through the roof plenty on their own without any help. Run your wiring under the hood the way TrailRecon showed.
Hey Brad , love the channel and thanks for all the great informative content. I just purchased my first KC light bar and when searching wiring videos of course you had one. Like SPOD idea also. The thing I didn’t consider was the fact they are so easy to steal until you talked about the locking nut. Just wonder if you came up with a better solution? I’d hate to see mine walk away. Thanks and thanks for your service!
Thanks for sharing the discount code. It helped me save over $250 on a recent KC Light purchase. I bought the same lightbar for my Gladiator, plus some additional cowl and front bumper lights. Can wait for them to arrive.
what a great design. kc is pure quality! I've got some cyclones I need to install, not quite the same light, but definitely solid! thanks for the video and letting us know how well they sound at highway speed
I have this in a 7 ring set up on my 2014 grand Cherokee w/a Gobi rack and mounts. Fits perfectly and the focus of these via the reflectors keeps the glare on the hood down vs a standard open face light bar. The bar itself is heavy, and can take a bit of finesse to get aimed and secured. The yellow KC branding was a bit much for my liking so I got some black vinyl stickers to put over the logos. I purchased the amber covers that IMO help with light reflecting from dust & rain.
I have these on my 2018 JL that I installed 2 months ago. A couple of issues I have ran into, first KC does not make a mount for the JL so I had to try a few different mounting systems before I was satisfied. Went with Westin first, but it did not put the lights up high enough and the rubber foot rested on the glass. That was fine for a week until it rained and I realized the wiper on the passenger side hits it. Next I tried Zroadz mounts. Total crap, bad welds, scratched easily and thin metal. Next I went to the Fishbone mounts, These put the lights at their highest location, cannot even see them unless you lean forward. Very good quality compare to the previous two. I live on a gravel road that it takes just less than a mile to get to pavement. After a couple of week developed very loud rattle, it was the rubber foot had shifted toward the driver's side and no longer sitting flat. Aggresivley tightened rubber foot mount to the light and put some 3M double sided tape under foot and have been good for a month now. If these mounts don't work out, I have a set of Hammer mounts sitting in a box ready to try. Light covers on most of the lights are loose, and rattle a little on the gravel road. Will be going on my first off-roading trip in this Jeep soon and will see how bad the covers are offroad, most likely will take them off. TrailRecon have you had any issues with rattles of any kind from your Gravity Pro6 Lightbar setup?
Those lights really make the look of the Jeep different, it fits good. I was wondering about the mounting height when you installed the brackets, they can be a little longer for moving the lights up a bit to clear the windshield a bit more...
100% agree, they really fit the Jeep perfectly. I actually like their height in comparison to the roof line, I don't mind the minimal visibility loss. I don't see any adjustments on the mount.
It goes without saying that you have produced another outstanding, helpful video. But, the video quality is really clear. Do you have a video describing what camera, mic and settings (4K, 1080) that you use? When viewing this on others of your videos on full screen I feel as though I am right there in the garage with you. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Not yet, only been mounted for a week. Hope to do a couple night runs and see which configuration I prefer. I will say, the straight configuration lights it up extremely well!
Cool video! Could you tell me how many inches this bar adds to the height of your jeep. I want to be sure that it will clear my garage entry before I purchase.
Can't thank you enough for showing this light set up off! I'm with you, I'm old school and love that round light look 👀 I was skeptical on them thinking they may be chincy, but from what you have shown these look look they will out last my rig. :) I think they are right in line with price, you get what you pay for. I'm ordering me up a set for my Tacoma. :) Thank you and KC highlights for the sweet 20% off!! :)
I hear you on hood glare issues, when I had lights on my a-pillars I got some significant good glare. The Pro6 isn't giving me any annoying good glare.... very happy with it!
I'm following all your post and thank you for everything that your doing. I just want to get your honest opinion whether the KC Hilites gravity pro 6 which you're using is producing so much wind noice. I'm planning to have one.
Did you have enough wire to reach to the SPOD, or did you have to purchase additional wire and splice them together to connect to the SPOD? Awesome Video
very good job on that. may get one to. a suggestion, get rid of that ugly antenna and put on a stubby 14 to 17 inch antenna, you got a cool ride, that antenna is distracting. lol. sorry, pet peeve of mine. lol
I agree $2500 is a lot of money for front off road lights. Then there is the reduced gas mileage inherent with such large lights. My FJ Cruiser has a low windshield design which makes it hard to see overhead traffic signals at intersections without turning my head sideways and lowering it. Not sure I want to transfer that problem to my Jeep JKUR.
After watching this video I ordered the same KC light bar. Should have it in next week and can't wait to see how my Jeep looks and how the lights perform off road. Any thoughts on how your light bar has held up in the last year? I also bought the locking nuts you used to secure the bar to the mount. Have those nuts held up well for you? Love watching all your great videos!
I would like to ask in cost to The square leds that seem to be so popular is there a huge price comparison? Additionally with center mounted lights do you believe there would not be a need for tongue mounted beams on night runs? As well as rear facing lights?
I'll be mounting some new bumper lights in the future so I have some more up close and lower visibility. Rear and side roof rack lights are on my to-do list as well!
Thanks for leaving the price out. I dont think my heart could have taken that
$1,600 is price on KC site
I know what you mean. I just looked up the price and HOLY COW!!!
1 year later…2k…remember it’s all for progress…

Definitely I'm old school I prefer round lights too! Your Jeep keeps on getting better and better! Love it!
Thank you! Can't wait to do the rig walk around of your rig!
TrailRecon Yeah!!!!!!
Hey man I don’t think it’s an old school thing. I picked up 6 appolo pros to put on their 50” light bar mount. Round definitely looks and performs better.

You gotta love the old school smiley face covers! Hood glare is very, very minim and I'm very thankful for that. Cheers!
Absolutely Craig. I am now 60 and couldn't afford things like this. But there was nothing cooler than the round lights with the happy faces.
@@rickshanteau3211 update, I indeed put three round KC slimlights on a Mopar mount with smiley face covers, and I love the look and function. 👍👍
These look much nicer than the flat bar type of Light Bars. Nice choice.
Agree, I love the unique style!
im sure someone asked but how loud are these on highway
Just bumping this to see if anyone wants to chime in on the question as Id also like to know
@@TrailRecon soy de Argentina donde puedo comprar
@@madchildM I think he said in a vid that they make no noise

Wow, that light bar looks awesome👍 I really appreciate all the work you put into your videos. Can't wait to see your new wheels!!!
Thank you! I am hoping to have the wheel on next weekend... going to look like a whole new Jeep with the light bar and rims soon!
The drone overhead view of the lights really helps with showing how much light is produced over all. I say do more drone shots on future light videos.
KC is the greatest, they are the only lights I will buy!
A great company for sure, very happy to be working with them!
Wayyyyy better than standard light bar. Definitely gives the Jeep a Classic look with modern function. Everyone knows the KC brand and worth every penny. Their warranty says it all when it comes to quality.
23 year warranty! Gotta love that!
Really nice design from KC....and they look AWESOME on your Jeep! Very cool.
I really appreciate their design... not doing what everyone else is doing!
oh by the way they make security nuts for it that you can purchase
Awesome, this is the same light bar I've been looking at for our 2017 JK! Thanks for the video, now my wife knows how the light bar will look on the Jeep.
Gotta convince the wife first... I know the feeling!
Just the light bar I am looking for. I would like to find a higher mount though. I'm not tall or anything. I just like the way it looks up higher. On another note, I noticed your fowled anchor. I'm retired HMC. Thanks for your service, Brother.

Been looking at that light bar for awhile. Watching your vid I pulled the trigger. Thanks for your vid
Great choice, you are going to love it!
Awesome light bar! Looks way better than the generic rectangle ones.
Couldn't agree more! I'm bored with the standard rectangle lights everyone has.
Nice initial review on the lights.. I think they look great! Also thanks for commenting on the lack of road noise/whistling that you get square bars. Thumbs up!
Thank you!
That looks sick. I'd have to agree, I like the look of those over a standard light bar. Might have to check these out for my TJ.
Would look great on a TJ!
Thank you for your service sir!
Thank you, really appreciate it! Oorah!
big ole USN master chief rank in the back but "oorah"? nah nah nah... it's "hooyah" lol
This is an older post but for Anti-theft I purchased their KC Light Locks for both the Gravity 6 and the pier lights.
I have the KC light bar 50 inch square bar I love the KC. the light bar I have so brighter then any light out there putting 90,000 lumens. also have other brands on my rig but nothing like the KC light. but the price I payed was about $1000. but it was worth every penny.
Yes! The round look lights instead of the bars! Looks great man
Couldn't agree with you more! Thanks!
Light bar is awesome but for that price I could do an engine swap In my tj...
Must try stedi lights from Australia, they are the most value for money and most pwerful also.
Hands down the lights are worth more than your Jeep ....
For this money, you can have those lights, or you can have a Jeep🤷♂️🤷♂️
My first 4x4 was a 1983 Chevy SWB fleet side truck. No such thing as LED lights back then. Round off road lights was the only real choice. Dude I think I saw Bigfoot just at the edge of the lights when you turned on lights at the beginning. Nice video
What did you end up doing to secure them?
My XJ has square lights (like they all do) but I still prefer round auxiliary lights because the reflector is more efficient in the round format IMHO
Hmmmm.... you've got me thinking now. Maybe I will go with round lights on Project XJ Overland.
Great video (as usual). Pricey lights, so I'm very curious to hear about what solution you implemented to improve security.
You have done some great video reviews. I love the light bar reviews! Keep them coming please!

love the way it throws the light big concern for me would be the massive reflection of light projected onto the hood
Cultstatic I get very little light on the hood.
Thanks for sharing the discount code. It helped me save over $250 on a recent KC Light purchase. I bought the same lightbar for my Gladiator, plus some additional cowl and front bumper lights. Can wait for them to arrive.
Those are some cool lights I want to put those on my xj.
Thanks! Would be awesome on an XJ!
What did you end up using for your anti-theft?
Wow that looks really good hopefully they have a configuration for a TJ because I'm very interested
if its 50 inch one of those should fit on the xj with any light bar mounts. i think it would look better than a normal light bar.
I'd love to see this mounted on my XJ!
what a great design. kc is pure quality! I've got some cyclones I need to install, not quite the same light, but definitely solid! thanks for the video and letting us know how well they sound at highway speed

These are bad ass! Great video! Keep them coming!

Looks great! Just bought my dad some KC flood lights for his Jeep, might just have to get my own.
TrailRecon have you had any issues with rattles of any kind from your Gravity Pro6 Lightbar setup?
what is the noise level
Just installed mine and absolutely no noise!
Nice looking light bar, love the content. Any chance we will see that Smittybilt tire carrier on the XJ soon?
Thanks! The tire carrier is on the top of our list and ready to go, just need to set aside a day to knock it out... soon I hope!
I would love to run this on my next rig
That thing looks freakin awesome!!!!
I'm with you, love the look!!
round lights all the way.i agree.
It goes without saying that you have produced another outstanding, helpful video. But, the video quality is really clear. I'm loving my new camera (Canon 80d), crystal clear and the auto focus is on point, very happy! I may do a film gear video in the future. Thank you!!!
I Used your promo and saved $209
THANK YOU
that looks awesome. wish they made a bar similar for the yj Brad. great vid man :)
Thank you!!
it looks good on the jeep. I think the black accents look better
Great stuff, nice looking lights. I'd keep those mounting brackets black, complements the wheel wells etc. just my 4.5 cents (inflation)
I hate inflation! LOL! Thanks!
Brad, wow it is official, your JK is now a supermodel. I saw it in the KC advertising in ORA four wheel parts magazine!
LOL! Completely honored they decided to use my Jeep for the ad.... just wish it would have been after my new bumpers and fenders were installed!
That's sweet, don't park anywhere in Alaska without putting some sort security system on there. Light bars seem to disappear real quick up there.
There are plenty of places here in SoCal I'll have to be careful of as well... but don't let me catch them in the act!
That thing is sweet. I am looking at a light bar soon for my 89 bronco. I hate to think what that costs.
they need to make this but with a more squared light. would look sick on an xj
Love the round lights so much better. Thanks for sharing.
Have you had a chance to adjust the bar to a curve and see what the output looks like?
Not yet, only been mounted for a week. Hope to do a couple night runs and see which configuration I prefer. I will say, the straight configuration lights it up extremely well!
great video !!! also, good tune at the end !!! who makes your music ???
Thanks! I usually get my music from audiojungle.com.
Cool video! Could you tell me how many inches this bar adds to the height of your jeep. I want to be sure that it will clear my garage entry before I purchase.
This is awesome...a little on the $$$ side, but for what you can do with it and its performance---probably can't beat it.
Hands down, there is no other light bar I'd rather have on my Jeep... the performance is amazing!
Curious what security lock option you came up with. Thanks for all the content new to jeeps love your channel!
Can't thank you enough for showing this light set up off! I'm ordering me up a set for my Tacoma. :) Thank you and KC highlights for the sweet 20% off!! :)
Thank you very much! I have no doubt this light bar will last me a very long time!
Why would you expect $2000 lights to be “chincy”?

very good job on that. may get one to. a suggestion, get rid of that ugly antenna and put on a stubby 14 to 17 inch antenna, you got a cool ride, that antenna is distracting. lol. sorry, pet peeve of mine. lol
Getting a shorter antenna might be a good idea.... don't want to loose reception though.
I agree $2500 is a lot of money for front off road lights. Then there is the reduced gas mileage inherent with such large lights. My FJ Cruiser has a low windshield design which makes it hard to see overhead traffic signals at intersections without turning my head sideways and lowering it. Wondering the same
Just tried to order and the discount code is not working. Do you know if it changed or is no longer good? Thanks
Have a pair of spots. They be assume.--------- as for theft. .45s work real well in Texas, Lol
Excellent camera work, bye the way.
My question on this light bar is that if it is heavy or about the same weight from a regular square light bar
I didn't weigh the light, but when shipped with mounts and all the packaging, UPS had it at 40lbs.
Was there ever a follow up video?
I LOVE my Pro6!!
Amazing review. These lights are perfect but the price....a bit high for my budget. Definitely going to have to start saving for it though :)
Thank you! I think these lights are a great investment for someone who will be using them often. Cheers!
