- Offroad lighting... There are many different styles, colors, beam patterns, and brands. But what are the differences, and which one suits your offroading needs best?
In this video, we install a bunch of high performance lights from Baja Designs on my Jeep Gladiator, my JKU Wrangler, and the LJ.
Like i mentioned, this video is sponsored by Baja Designs and they are offering you guys a 10% off discount code (JKGAG)!
Here are the lights we are installing and taking a look at in this video.

Now, i understand these lights are expensive. I also understand that there are some people that are fine with cheaper LED pods and lightbars as they still do the trick. But there is no doubt that these lights are the best of the best, and i know that there are many people who want the best that you can get for your Jeep or Offroad Rig, and these are it.
The Amber driving combo lights are my personal favorite, as they mix great with LED headlights and fill in the surrounding spaces. They also offer better lighting in dust, rain, snow, and fog which is very common when offroading.
As for beam patterns, it depends on what you want. A driving combo is a great mix of a spot and flood light, giving you the best of both worlds. A spot beam will be better for high speed offroading, were a full flood (Wide cornering) will benefit slower offroad and trail riding.
Adding multiple lights to your Jeep with different beam patterns (like i did on the JK), is a great setup and provides a ton of light output while still looking good and not over done (Compared to multiple cheap pods and various lightbars).
I hope you found this video interesting, and i hope you were able to see the differences!!
Thank you for watching, and im looking forward to showing you guys the next thing we have planned for the Jeeps!! Авто/Мото
Sorry for any confusion, the discount code is now JKGAG10
JK Gear and Gadgets how much u want for the old rigids off the jk ?
What brand is ur front bumper on the gladiator
Sorry for the repost but here's the question - DO you need the trail 6's anymore??
kawlreaper these are a lot brighter than the trail 6 lights. A lot brighter. But that doesn’t mean my trail 6s are useless
@@JKGearandGadgetsI gotcha! I'm upgrading my headlights to the JW speakers and contemplating the Trail 6's. Also was thinking of the Baja Design OnX6 10" light bar. Then I saw your Naja Design video with the LP6's. Made me re evaluate again! Since the LP6's have a high and low setting...should i just put the money into them instead of the Trail6's?!?! Like you said...good lights arent cheap. Trying to spend wisely.. :-)
One thing that I noticed right away is that the amber light spectrum is much easier on your eyes for long distant driving at night. Also saves some of your night vision. Incredible lights.
Great to see a new video, Those amber lights put out so much more light than I ever would have thought. Thanks for showing the side by side comparison!
Glad you did this. I never would have considered an amber light before.
I myself like the amber light because of the fog.
Been running S2 Sport clear driving combos as reverse lights for probably a year now and absolutely love them! with a super scratched and faded rear window i can see soooo much better out the back with them and makes backing in places at night incredibly easy
Perfect timing, I was just thinking of purchasing this month!
You guys have definitely become one of my favorite RUclips channels. Keep them coming!
Great overview of the amber vs. white and of the types of beam. Thanks for the video.
I'm buying a Gladiator today and all of your videos have been insightful!
Awesome video Ben as usual!! I'm definitely going with Baja Designs lights when I'm ready for lighting. Thank you for the video!
Those are some great lights. I love how you build them into the bumper on the gladiator. I’m a big fan of the amber ones.
Thanks so much!! This solved weeks of going back and forth for me. I’m getting some amber squadron pros right now!!
Great vid. The backup lights on the Gladiator are slick!
I love your videos. Including your wife and daughter is so awesome. The fact that you're a family oriented guy makes you that much more likable to me. I'm very new to the jeep community and I'm learning a great deal from your videos. Thank you.
Another awesome video! Actually answered some of my questions on amber vs white! Thanks bro
I've heard good things about Baja Designs. It's nice to see some in action. Thanks Ben!
I've been seeing those driving amber lights on the gladiator glad you made a video
Great video, and very good timing. I have a bud I wheeled with last weekend who was running the amber LP6's and they are absolutely wicked!
The lights look incredible ben! Not only in the lighting aspect, but how they look good on your jeeps!
Nice comparison of white and amber. I have 2015 JKU. I put KC 6" gravity pro's on the A pillar, KC Gravity pro headlights. And I just got a Baja Designs S8 10" amber bar for my front bumper. That light is freaking bright! I like the light spectrum and the fact you can change to clear lens if you want to. Amber is the go to out west in the dust.
Not running any yet. I have been waiting to get a set. Just wasn’t sure what I wanted. Thank you so much for this video. Very helpful.
I went old school with kc highlites apollo pros on top LCD a frame hood 4 inch led... and I really like those amber lights you've got...up front...👍
Great video as always. When I bought my JK 8 months ago it had some cheaper led pods and light bars on it. Still does but have been looking for upgrades. After seeing this video I know what brand I want to go with now. Just have to figure out which ones I want.
Love that your videos have such great information
The lights looked a great. I have to say, you never can have too many lights.
I have my Amber Baja Designs 45w mounted on the cowl - near A pillar. They help in cutting through snow/fog particulates before hitting vertical field of view. That’s why the Ambers go at or near eye level IMO. Next, the flood beam (Clear) driving lights (got my 75w lights from Quadratec) go at bumper height, because the purpose is to sweep wider and longer than running just headlights alone.
That is to say that I’m basically running the same setup as your Red JK. 👍🏻
those light look awesome. I agree the amber look best much easier on the eyes at night.
Great video, great lights…..
Your video was very good, good attitude, good pace, good camera stability, overall an A++ !
I like there cable end connection’s
We run Rigid fogs on the front bumper, and set of dual Quadratec flood and spot cubes on the front window pillars and Quadatec cube floods on the rear bumper. We also have a set of generic rock lights, but we are planning to change them out soon. All auxiliary lights are run through a sPod. We do a lot of night wheeling in the desert, and this setup seems to work well for our purpose.
I’m really digging the amber light set up. Right now I’m running KC Apollo on the pillar and KC Fogs on the pumper; along a 4inch light bar under the rear bumper.
Great video, I've been running rigid for a few years but have been slowly switching to Baja designs.
Amber all the way for fog/snow
Thanks I’m going bought the pros with the wide lens in white can’t wait to put them on my tj
They look so clean i like your install
The lights your running amber or white are awsome... I know i can't decide on either one cuz they both are awsome and they both have there purpose so if anything i would have to have both lol... Keep the videos comin...
Baja designs are amazing light but I really like rigid and that's what I'm running 🤙🏽
Those amber lights are incredible. Great review
Love those Baja lights! They are definitely on my wish list. I need more armor first though...
Just discovered your channel. I'd say Amber! The nice thing about Amber is you can use them in the warmer months when your camping etc and they act like a bug light the don't attract bugs as much as white do.
Great content! I like my BD lights. Gotta grab a set of LP’s down the road
Thanks guys! Keep'm coming. 👍🏻🍻
Another great video, worth the wait
I use KC 3" cubes with LaminX amber films on my a pillar alligned to follow my headlights in rainy/foggy weather, they work excellent. I use 7" round auxbeam driving and spot combo on my mopar light bar very powerful light great for offroad. Thr auxbeams are heavy with a combined weight of 14 lbs lol had to get a friend to weld reinforcements where the bar connects to my frame 😁 in order to stop the light bar from shaking when hitting bumps. Both sets of lights are holding up well considering all the salt sand and whatever else they mix in during winter months. I am also running highbeam offroad headlights. I installed them in September and so far they have been excellent. Went with the drifter series saw those on your channel. Love that they are lifetime replacement and sae dot approved. Great light output pattern and cutoff when alligned properly also when the highbeams are used they work great sending straight spot beams straight down the road just like anyone would want love them.
You guys are so cute......and the most informative Jeep channel .
I ordered up some Squadron pros ambers to replace my JK fog lights last week. Just waiting for them to arrive.
Mounting the S2 low like you did on your truck bed is the way I go. I had them on my JKU's rhino rack roof rack and holy smokes.....way too bright on the eyes when you look at your jeep.
I use a pair of squadrons made with a wiring loom for the JK which also fits into the fog light position on the AEV bumper. My favorite lights. Lights up the sides and slightly forward enough for safely driving at night with wildlife.
Great video. I love those light gotta get me some of those Amber lights for my jk.
Great video!! and you have me interested in amber lights now🧐
Welcome back Ben, was getting ready to send out a search party for you. It has been a while since you dropped a video.
I have quite a few coming soon! Been busy doing house projects.
Have fun on your trip to Michigan and I can’t wait for more videos it seems like it’s been forever since your last video came out
I've decided to go Amber lights and I have a cheap set of harbor freight halogens on the Jeep now. Going to upgrade later to a more permanent setup with better wiring. But even the 55w halogen ambers make a big difference over just the headlights and fog lights.
Great educational video! Loving the ambers!
Could you do a detailed video on all your wiring? Did you just connect all your lights to an spod, or splice into high beams. If you spliced, did you have to add a separate relay and fuse combo? Same question for the reverse lights, did you splice in only: do they need a relay?
I have the same questions! And what brand or type of military rebuildable light connectors are those you showed? You never mentioned the name of the connectors.
Good vid I’m debating on just the amber lens cover or switching out the lens for a full amber so, glad I got to see it upfront because I would like to change back and forth without taking out the lens and putting the clear back on and vice versa.
Man I'd love to have a set of those for my JKU. Maybe one of these days.
Thanks for the video, I really want to get the Amber light
Might have to get the amber lights for heavy rain/snow/fog, love my LED light but they aren't great in those conditions.
Those amber LP6's are nice. I have some KC amber lights up front and combo rigid spreader series amber halos with reverse lights in the bumper.
Great video! You have my dream collection sitting there in your driveway, haha.
I have 5th gen Toyota 4Runner, and want to replace the fogs in the stock location. For that application would you recommend the Ambers? This is going to be driven on road 99.99% of the time. Thanks!
I like Baja Design!!! I am saving my pennies to get some for my JKU
I’ve *Ben* watching for months and love the channel! I’m wiring my LP6’s in now and was wondering what you chose to do for a switch in the Gladiator being that you likely wanted to have a 3-way and the aux buttons only do 2. If you mounted their switch, did you place it next to the 115v ac cargo switch? Thanks, and keep the good content rolling!
Hey @JK Gear and Gadgets, or anyone else with Baja Designs, I am still interested in hearing where y'all mount switches if you didn't use the aux buttons!
Interesting video on lighting & budget !
I really like the back up lights. I think that's what I will do next. But going to wire to one of the 4 switches in dash. And go with the amber a pillar lights.
These lights are pretty sick. Might have to invest in a set.
Finally ordered my JTR in a manual gearbox! Super excited. I believe Baja Designs also has a LP9 I heard it’s insane in the driving combo!however the LP6s look way more proportional on the Gladiator, probably would go with those.
Haha all the Jeeps look great man! Keep the content up!
The LP9s are sick!!!! Do them on the JT!
THANK YOU for the discount code! JKGAG10 still works! Big fan of you two and I appreciate your content!
Not a huge fan of light bars but the Baja designs lights all look incredible....going to put those on a list for a future purchase....lol!!!
Those Amber Lp6 were the best out of them all
Looks great 👌🏻
I installed black oak 2 inch amber pods in my bumper. With JW Speaker headlights it is like 4k high definition while driving.
I’ve been thinking about getting some more lighting. I went with some JW Speaker headlights and fog lights for now. They are way better than stock. I’ll probably wait to do more lights after some performance and suspension mods. That is, if I don’t go broke first lol
These look like awesome lights! It'll be nice once they start offering street legal driving lights (I noticed they do have fog lights) Because those look more badass than a 20" bar!
'So I don't blind a Karen and have her start yelling at me in her minivan'
I'm dead, had to smash the like button at that moment.
Ross Syster 🤣 don’t wanna disturb Karen’s kids listening to kids bop
Did the same thing
I have found that a combo of amber and white works well in the dust. Just white reflects to much dust and light reflecting on the windshield. Shows dust to the point it is hard to see . Though being from Arizona I'm a KC fan.
Great comparison video.
OMG ! Just went to the website and saw the prices ! They are 3 x more expensive than what I thought expensive was. I guess I learned something. WOW.
Yeah.. 😬. These are the TOP of the line lights
Holy hell. There's like 4 grand in lights in this video lol
Amber would do great in the snow out here in the PNW!
Awesome video. Now I know amber is my next set up.
The amber are sweet. I like the combo.
I was recently looking at the squadrons. Do you know if you can just plug them into the stock fog light plugs?
Hoping to get some of those sweet jwspeaker lights trail 6 I think they were.
Those amber lights look awesome on the gladiator
better alternative to big noisy light bars
I would recommend a driving combo low (amber) and spot high (white), less hood glare and imho best of all worlds.
Not running anything yet, but thanks for insight need to add some soon. Although won’t need them much for summer in Alaska.
Getting a new bumper Wednesday and its gonna have two sets of KC lights. Interested to see the light output vs the stock led fog lights.
I’m curious about Rigid vs. BD. Could you make a video or post a comparison? I’ve had Rigid lights for a long time, but I see that there’s a lot of people swapping to BD. Just trying to figure out what makes them better.
Let there be light!!! Thanks Ben
I like the LP 6 and my regards to your girls. I'm currently running diod dynamics and oracle taillights and tailgate lights on a 4.5" lift on 37s
Definitely going to have to pick up some Baja lights now!
Thanks a lot can you please share type link for the headlight the smoked I really like it even the down signal light awasome can you share from where can I buy it thanks
they might put out more light but nothing can beat how cool light bars make you lol
Great video. What kind of bumpers are those?
i put baja designs squadron sports in my JL rear bumper... holy crap talk about BRIGHT!
Fantastic lights. Little spendy so I'll need to buy one at a time. Do you know if they are still honoring the GAG discount? Yes they are. LP6 Pro rock guard covers are now available for these lights.
Thanks JK Gear and Gadgets
Great video on the lights. Where did you get the antenna on the jk ?
Did these light basically just replace JW Speaker Trail 6's and some of the functions of the JW Speaker headlights?
I've a 90 YJ and trying to get all my lights square or rectangular as possible.so....theyre harder to find than you think.i found all of my square lights on amazon.your video was aswome by the way
I see best with Amber/Yellow lights than any hue white light.
Green works really well too(best for snow covered)
is there a on the trail video yet?? these babies would be perfect on my 08 gx470 rig im building up.. r the interchangable lense cover lights a bit easier to wire or r they about the same as the pros w the dedicated amber or white colors? thanks so much and please link me up if you have made a trail video i would love to see that footage!! thanks soo much god bless!

I live in Saudi Arabia, so we mostly do off roading in sand desert which one do you recommend? Amber or the other one?
