When will video #26 for May of 2022 be available to watch? It is fun to be able to see this projects progress from above. Looking forward to completion day so we can start to use it and hopefully shorten my commute every day to work.
Another great video. It is interesting what they did with the traffic shift, I thought they were going to try and remove the west side of the temporary road so they could continue working on the southbound lanes, but I guess they have quite a bit of other things they can do in the meantime. I think it is possible/likely that they will open up the beltway before the end of the year and then finish 38th and 84th/82nd streets afterwards.
The main reason for doing the switch like that is to eliminate all left turns at the intersection. Once the on ramp from Saltillo to 77 northbound is open there will be no left turns anywhere.
Loved the video, Jon! And the HS was a bonus, thanks. What is the estimated opening date? And it appears like it have to be opened all at once, save for a few minor things here and there.
Ask and ye shall receive lol. I don’t know if they will open it before the end of March 2023, but they may, I mean the good press certainly wouldn’t hurt. The contract said 38th and 82nd st interchanges don’t have to be open until April 2024, I believe, but work it’s so far along, I don’t know how they could take 2 years to finish them. That said, with the concrete plant in the right of way of the realigned 82nd st, they’re probably waiting to construct that road and the roundabout at Saltillo until the very end. Also, I noticed that 27th st has just been repaved north of Saltillo, so while the realignment of 27th st is outside the scope of the beltway contract (it’s the responsibility of the county/city) I’m guessing they’re not planning on connecting 27th to the new roundabout on Saltillo (that will run into 38th st) within the next couple years.
@@lincolnsouthbeltway3732 I cringe thinking that the 27th St exit will go northwest to Saltillo Rd then stop, you go onto Saltillo west for a few blocks and then have to go through perhaps a second future roundabout or left/right turns to head north on 27th St. If so, stupid. There is nothing built there nor any natural obstructions to not keep it heading northwestward through the roundabout at Saltillo into the existing 27th St north of Saltillo a few blocks. If they start building buildings and other things to hamper future changes, they will need their heads examined.
It's been a while since we've seen an update. Things must have gone south on the beltway.... probably 37 tornadoes, a few earthquakes, red hot gale force winds, blood red rain, and black beachball sized hail. Must be the second coming eh?
One of the major shortcomings of this design, if I understand correctly, is the Eastbound Nebraska Hwy traffic having to turn left to join EB HWY 2 south of this bridge. Why? I see the same sort of shortsightedness that is the current EB 9th and Van Dorn right turn. See here for where I'm referring. ruclips.net/video/bKEmslNyC70/видео.html
@@alexthemtaandr211weatherfa2 Highway 77 is already the west side of the loop. South beltway connects to Hwy 77 in the west, which then connects to I80 in the north. Just missing the east beltway to make it a full loop.

These videos make my day everytime
I’m glad!
If the video is delayed, I miss it. I return to view them during the month more than once.

NIce touch that they added a pedestrian/bike trail to the Saltillo bridge! Forward thinking there. Edit: bridge over 77.
For sure!
ty for the bonus coverage of the school
You bet!
When can we expect the next update? Thank you for providing these videos, seeing the progress from day 1 has been great!!

Nebraska Department of Transportation has a new video as of June 27

New videos please?
This video was very cool! I been keeping an eye on this beltway and just found this channel.
Glad you liked it!

They could well be! As long as we don’t have a ton of rain, the majority of the mainline of US-77 and the beltway will likely be paved in 2-3 months!

I like that thinking! It makes a lot of sense
@@lincolnsouthbeltway3732 is the road planned to fully open before next April?
I drive Hwy 2 everyday and it looks like it is getting close to having traffic on the new road. Please fly this construction area again.

It would only make sense for them to realign 27th now but knowing how they work nothing surprises me. Great video once again.

@@beltwaysouthoflincoln7098 I worry more about having a few blocks run along Saltillo Rd than the name, but that is another case of stupid.
Is the northbound on ramp closed due to pavement repair? Thats what it looks like they are doing, but that seems weird for how new the pavement is.
Yep, I believe they have to guarantee their work lol
How come there won't be traffic circles at the Nebraska Parkway interchange?
I’m not exactly sure, but I would imagine it’s because of a higher estimated traffic demand, including truck traffic headed into Lincoln.
