This channel features videos about the construction of a 4 lane divided highway near the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. This channel is not in any way affiliated with the Nebraska Department of Transportation, nor is it in any way officially related to the project. I am making these videos to educate the public on how new freeway is built.

Yes, yes I started from the East and missed the exit - due to no signage - however wasn’t the only one 😊
And now it’s open and it’s so sweet - until you go north… darn stop & go lights…..
Now we need the east one. Trucks are still going old hwy 2 east bound. through lincoln
I miss the updates! ;)

I drive Hwy 2 everyday and it looks like it is getting close to having traffic on the new road. Please fly this construction area again.
New videos please?
One of the major shortcomings of this design, if I understand correctly, is the Eastbound Nebraska Hwy traffic having to turn left to join EB HWY 2 south of this bridge. Why? I see the same sort of shortsightedness that is the current EB 9th and Van Dorn right turn. See here for where I'm referring. ruclips.net/video/bKEmslNyC70/видео.html
When can we expect the next update? Thank you for providing these videos, seeing the progress from day 1 has been great!!

Nebraska Department of Transportation has a new video as of June 27 ruclips.net/video/lCdbi6mvZqI/видео.html
It's been a while since we've seen an update. Things must have gone south on the beltway.... probably 37 tornadoes, a few earthquakes, red hot gale force winds, blood red rain, and black beachball sized hail. Must be the second coming eh?
you forgot blizzards
Beltway South of Lincoln has your update.
@@aaronnelson5097 Good update. Not quite the drone skills but still good. Some serious progress going on there on the beltway.
I’ll try harder next time. Lol
When will video #26 for May of 2022 be available to watch? It is fun to be able to see this projects progress from above. Looking forward to completion day so we can start to use it and hopefully shorten my commute every day to work.

good for Lincoln, Nebraska --
Is the beltway going to have an official title like “interstate 880” or something?
It will be called Highway 2
@@beltwaysouthoflincoln7098 what will the existing Highway 2 from 84th to 10th street be renamed 😳
@@gumbyshrimp2606 Nebraska Parkway
Get rid interstate 180 or convert it to a business loop thru downtown and o street and connect to interstate 80 at the other end
@@alexthemtaandr211weatherfa2 Highway 77 is already the west side of the loop. South beltway connects to Hwy 77 in the west, which then connects to I80 in the north. Just missing the east beltway to make it a full loop.
NIce touch that they added a pedestrian/bike trail to the Saltillo bridge! Forward thinking there. Edit: bridge over 77.
For sure!
This video was very cool! I been keeping an eye on this beltway and just found this channel.
Glad you liked it!
How come there won't be traffic circles at the Nebraska Parkway interchange?
I’m not exactly sure, but I would imagine it’s because of a higher estimated traffic demand, including truck traffic headed into Lincoln.
These videos make my day everytime
I’m glad!
If the video is delayed, I miss it. I return to view them during the month more than once.
m.ruclips.net/video/EPRyNCEnJ44/видео.html
Loved the video, Jon! And the HS was a bonus, thanks. What is the estimated opening date? And it appears like it have to be opened all at once, save for a few minor things here and there.
Ask and ye shall receive lol. I don’t know if they will open it before the end of March 2023, but they may, I mean the good press certainly wouldn’t hurt. The contract said 38th and 82nd st interchanges don’t have to be open until April 2024, I believe, but work it’s so far along, I don’t know how they could take 2 years to finish them. That said, with the concrete plant in the right of way of the realigned 82nd st, they’re probably waiting to construct that road and the roundabout at Saltillo until the very end. Also, I noticed that 27th st has just been repaved north of Saltillo, so while the realignment of 27th st is outside the scope of the beltway contract (it’s the responsibility of the county/city) I’m guessing they’re not planning on connecting 27th to the new roundabout on Saltillo (that will run into 38th st) within the next couple years.
It would only make sense for them to realign 27th now but knowing how they work nothing surprises me. Great video once again.
@@lincolnsouthbeltway3732 I cringe thinking that the 27th St exit will go northwest to Saltillo Rd then stop, you go onto Saltillo west for a few blocks and then have to go through perhaps a second future roundabout or left/right turns to head north on 27th St. If so, stupid. There is nothing built there nor any natural obstructions to not keep it heading northwestward through the roundabout at Saltillo into the existing 27th St north of Saltillo a few blocks. If they start building buildings and other things to hamper future changes, they will need their heads examined.
@@glennlrw Just wait till the confusion when people find out the 27th st exit is called Jamaica Ave.
@@beltwaysouthoflincoln7098 I worry more about having a few blocks run along Saltillo Rd than the name, but that is another case of stupid.
Is the northbound on ramp closed due to pavement repair? Thats what it looks like they are doing, but that seems weird for how new the pavement is.
Yep, I believe they have to guarantee their work lol
Another great video. It is interesting what they did with the traffic shift, I thought they were going to try and remove the west side of the temporary road so they could continue working on the southbound lanes, but I guess they have quite a bit of other things they can do in the meantime. I think it is possible/likely that they will open up the beltway before the end of the year and then finish 38th and 84th/82nd streets afterwards.
They could well be! As long as we don’t have a ton of rain, the majority of the mainline of US-77 and the beltway will likely be paved in 2-3 months!
The main reason for doing the switch like that is to eliminate all left turns at the intersection. Once the on ramp from Saltillo to 77 northbound is open there will be no left turns anywhere.
I like that thinking! It makes a lot of sense
@@lincolnsouthbeltway3732 is the road planned to fully open before next April?
ty for the bonus coverage of the school
You bet!
Do you know what exactly the overnight closures are for Monday and Tuesday nights? The public release says it is for the roundabout and for 14th st and Saltillo rd both north and east of the roundabout, but I can't make sense as to why those roads specifically are closing. I was out there earlier today, and it looks like they could be opening the Saltillo bridge! Also, they had pavement markings and overhead signs ready on the future NB lanes for 2-way traffic. The northbound Saltillo exit ramp also had markings installed. That would lead me to believe that the night time closures are for the US77 traffic shift and Saltillo bridge opening. However, I can't quite figure out how traffic may flow after the traffic shift. The pavement markings on the new NB US77 lanes don't have turn lanes, nor is there enough space/pavement to make turning possible where the temporary intersection is currently. That would lead me to think that all NB traffic entering/exiting US77 to/from Saltillo rd will use the newly constructed ramps, but I'm not sure how SB traffic will be accommodated. Any thoughts? Might just need to wait it out a few days and see what happens. Also, btw keep up the great work with the videos. They are really awesome and much appreciated.
I’m not 100% sure either, but I’ll keep you posted! Thanks!
please try to do a timelaps when the big flyover bridge gets added onto, thanks for all the great vids

What a fantastic enhancement for traffic for the great city of Lincoln!
With so much paved and exit signs going up in one spot, I keep thinking it will be done this year rather than 2023. I know the two ends have a lot of work left though.
That they do. There’s a reason they started on the west interchange a month early! Lol
Very smart decision to put roundabouts, reduces accidents, stop signs, and traffic lights.
I whole-heartedly agree!
Nice job. Would it be possible to do a flyover in the opposite direction?
I will this month to celebrate the third year of construction
19:10 us 30 in Fremont will have a similar thing happen, but I don’t know what the exact plans are.
Why the love affair with round abouts when your residents have no idea how to use them properly??

Another great video, Jon! How is the new High School coming along?
Maybe I’ll swing by this month lol. Based on the progress of the other school, the steel structure and precast walls went up super quick, but there wasn’t a lot of visible work on the exterior sports facilities until late last fall.
@@lincolnsouthbeltway3732 just trying to keep you honest .... btw I saw the Green Line in Boston opened partially. I was already well informed thanks you video from last year! Thanks again, Jon
Thank you! It’s awesome that part of it opened, just in time to have it shut down again for that parking garage collapse! Oh well….someday it’ll be finished lol

Woo hoo - more sprawl!
Amazing work, as usual. Thanks!
Okay, is it just me, or at 15:30 is the pier for the 120th st bridge not centered? I hate it. Lol
It’s not, and I kind of agree lol, but I’m sure it has to do with future proofing for the future east beltway…
It does have to do with the future ramp for the east beltway. You will really hate it when the road is next to the MSE wall and theres a huge gap to the pier. The dirt pile that is northeast of the bridge is where to ramp for the bridge over hwy 2 will start. That is also why there is such a big gap between the bridges at the oppd tracks.
@@beltwaysouthoflincoln7098 Interesting, I appreciate the insight! Is that the same reason for the difference in elevation between the eastbound and westbound lanes?
@@AdmiralAnarchy I think so. There would be 3 bridges that cross hwy 2 right there so it would help to not have to build that grade so high.
All the music is good, EXCEPT the one at the 5:00 mark. Why is there HARDLY any construction going on in most of your videos❓ Is that why it's taking SOOOO long❓
Three years to build several miles of new freeway, bridges, intersections, and connecting roads is actually impressive.
There may be a lot of construction going on, but is it just bad timing when he does these videos❓ I see VERY little activity in all of his videos.
What exactly are you expecting to see when a drone flies over an area for 10 seconds? He also said this was done on a Sunday.
They are getting this done at an amazing pace. I believe the original time frame given was 5 years. If you want to see slow look at any city road expansion. For example the with Yankee Hill road expansion the city is ok for 3/4 mile of road to get done over 14 months with minimal grading having to be done unlike the bypass project. The city has roundabouts take 5-6 months when Hawkins gets them done in about a month. I wish Hawkins did every project for the city instead of K2.
19:21 just a few Watertowers in this area.
I liking the music.
Another Great video, Jon! Looks like all the bridges have at least their girders installed. Surprised how steady the drone was even with all the wind, at 54th the wind was very apparent.
Almost. There is 1 more bridge that needs girders then finish the flyover and they will all be set!
Thanks! Yeah the wind has been what’s delaying recording the past couple months, but this one was shot on February 27th.
