I live about 30 miles from Dover and I remember local news stories about it. I was 12. My dad laughed it off but my mom, two younger sisters, and I were nervous about it. They posted a drawing on the news stations. We were horrified.
I live about 900 miles from the Boston area, and I remember it being on a local Cincinnati news station. They even showed the drawings of it. I forgot all about it through the years, until seeing it featured on Monsters and Myteries in America, around 10 years ago or so.

When I was younger, around 13 years old, my mom had these woods with some trails we made on the property. One day while going around one of the trails, I saw a creature that looked like a pale greyish color. It didn't really have hair and if it did, it was that similar to one of those nearly hairless cats. I moved closer to it not paying any mind thinking it would just run off, but when it turned to me, it turned with a head similar to a larger toddler shape. No nose, don't remember seeing a mouth. All I remember was some blue pupil less eyes staring at me before I turned back and booked it. The creature seemed to freeze when it saw me and that was all I was able to make out before I sprinted off back to the house. I told my mom who insisted it was some animal, but I swore it looked way too humanoid. A few months later I was watching cryptid videos and stumbled upon the dover demon. Funny thing is I knew about this thing beforehand, and simply forgot it's existence. But when I saw photos of it and sketches I knew it was the exact thing I saw in the woods or eerily similar. But when they said in this video blue eyes. That's what made me freak. Because back then I showed my mom the dover demon picture but said it was blue eyed instead of orange but she didn't believe me. This is what's strange to me because in the past my family has experienced what we perceived as ghosts, seen ufo like objects in the sky, and have acknowledged much stranger events as such. Honestly we're not trying to sound crazy whenever we see those things and usually just agree with whatever it is we see and leave it at that. But for some reason my mom refused to acknowledge the creature I told her about, yet she was afraid about me and my siblings going anywhere near those woods ever since I described to her what it looked like. Folks, I can't guarantee what things this world offers us, but I don't think we know as much as we claim to. Sometimes things are just what they appear to be and shouldn't be shrugged off so easily by calling people crazy. It's a big world, and we only know a fraction of it.
I live but twenty minutes from this town. Despite it’s strong associations with an urban/industrial past, many outside New England easily forget that once you’re outside Boston or Providence, it gets very rural here. Quaint little farms and small towns with less than 1,000 people. It is also the oldest permanently settled region of the U.S., and still one of the oldest in all of North America. And if that was not enough, our region was home to the bloodiest conflict ever to take place on the continent: King Philip’s War (1675-1678). If you live outside New England, you’ve probably never heard of that one, as it’s one of the lesser known wars of olde America (pre-U.S.). Nevertheless, although the body count was lower, it was by far nastier and more brutal than even our Civil War of 1861-1865. Given all the blood spilled on this timeworn soil, I don’t doubt for a second the likelihood of mysterious monsters lurking in our backcountry woods and wild hinterlands. 🌲🏴🇺🇸💀
Very historic! But I believe the pueblos of the southwest are the oldest continuously occupied settlements on the continent. Unless you meant to specify non-indigenous settlements. 😁👍
I remember learning about this thing when I was a kid. My grandpa was watching a show called monsters and mysteries and I was compelled to watch. After that episode I was terrified of the woods especially at my Aunites house. She had a second floor bathroom with a window that pointed towards the woods with large trees. Every time I used it at night I always imagined the Dover Demon watching me from the trees.
I realize you must get a lot of requests, but I wish you'd do a story on the Bosak Humanoid. One of those Hairy Hominid stories, but unlike any other HH I've ever read about. You guys could present the story with your usual style and everyone would love it.
Incredible artwork. The portrait of the demon could have been an alien life form or a supernatural entity. I'm surprised no one noticed some similarities to the Wendigo folklore. The exception being that the Demon seems to be trying to avoid being seen. Definitely not trying to entrap. Great video and storytelling. 💀
my girlfriends dad has seen this demon at least once, while out running in Norwood, which is the next town over from Dover. He thinks it's definitely a real thing.
Great episode, really enjoyed it (especially since I hail from Massachusetts, myself)! How's about an episode concerning/covering "The Bridgewater Triangle"?
As a Massachusetts resident, I wouldn't call Dover "rural". A place filled with estates isn't the first thing I think of when I think of rural. Nor being smack dab in the suburbs of Boston.
Awesome. I live in Southeastern Massachusetts. Dover is a nice place to live but expensive. We have a numerous stories that include aliens and cryptics. The Berkshires are a prime area for such activities.
@@todayswordoftheday One of my relatives lives in Barrington, MA. It's in the middle of nowhere and expensive as well. The whole state is one large debt trap. 😥

It doesn't necessarily have to be a lonely dark country road. A friend I used to work ,with told me he and his wife saw something strange alongside a four lane highway in Ohio in morning sunlight. Although it wasn't a crypid, it was still out of the ordinary for this part of the world- a full grown Jaguar with a small dog in it's mouth. They actually stopped, and watched it from their rear window, as it crossed all four lanes and proceeded to disappear into a cornfield on the other side, with the dog still in it's mouth. They also said that other motorists witnessed it,because they slowed down for it while it crossed the road.
Yes! I've been interested in the Dover Demon ever since I read about it in the book _Monsters You Never Heard Of_ by Daniel Cohen. DD is one of my favorite cryptids. Thanks for bringing us the story!
Whoooaaaaa!!!!! I had a handful of Daniel Cohen books when I was a kid. I hadn't thought about them in 30 years. I'm having a moment right now after reading this comment. Thank you!!!
Stories like this, where people see something for a short period of time and never again, always make me wonder if a rift between dimensions open up and things from some other odd version of earth pop up in our world and are just as confused as we are about what in the hell is going on.
Some of the cryptids that have less information could maybe even be thrown together on a compilation style video. I'm thinking the Loveland Frog would be perfect for that format.
Can't thbaknyou enough yet again for another amazing story and youe always hard work guys. Respect all around gentleman. Thank you all God bless you always.
Having done a quick Google, my theory is a hairless racoon. Either due to a genetic or other medical condition. They look weird hairless, and are known to walk or run on their two hind legs short distances. And presumably like Red Pandas they stand on their hind legs to look larger and scarier to predators.
Bro I'm from needham which is right next to dover. The first time we were exploring an abandoned satanic old man's house who killed himself inside it, my freind said he saw it out the window, laying under a bush in a pushup position. I didn't see it. The next time we went back and we went to the same spot and looked out the window. There was nothing there. I told him to keep looking through the window and I'll walk round outside. And the second I stepped outside. It was in the same spot, only under the busy on the left. I ran to the car ane screamed my friends name. Whatever it was were planning to kill it, it's definitely not holy
As soon as the description began, I immediately recalled Varginha's incident, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The description is incredibly similar, save for the only notable different is that the creature from Varginha had the callouses-like lumps on its head.
I live 10 minute walk. One of my friends saw it while exploring an abandoned house. Of a crazy satanic old man. my freidns are searching for it. It doesn't seem to be aggressive, we thinks it's one of Satan's deciples, who tries to posses you or something demonish. It's definitely not a product of evolution😂. All jokes aside I'm kinda scared of it.
There have been a lot of theories about what the Dover Demon was. I’m curious as to what you think it was. Or if it had offspring. I would hate to meet its offspring.
I am a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. I can assure you that a vast majority of the state **has** been "touched" by human hands extensively. The Native tribal Nations of the area were highly sophisticated farmers, who sustained large, healthy populations with ease. They also managed the forested areas to create and maintain peak hunting conditions. After, well, not to put too fine a point on it, the English invaded and initiated a genocidal war against Tribes throughout the region, English and European "settlers" began even more extensive land clearing, divisions and subdivisions. The majority of forest in our State today is 'new growth' and conceals a significant number of farmed out land. Old stone walls from 19th, 18th and even 17th century farms abound, even in areas that appear thickly grown today. Further, and forgive a silly middle aged historian her vanity, 1977 was **not** 50 years ago! If you're referring to the '72 sighting, it is unclear. I apologize for any lecturing nature in my comment, but .I quite literally went to graduate school for 18th century history, studied Native American resistance to European warfare extensively, and had friends among the archeology department who were excavating old farmsteads in this area you're calling "untouched". Love your channel, though, always enjoy your videos and hope you'll pardon my observations.
Thanks. And I can confirm a similar situation happened in Connecticut, at least in Fairfield County. I grew up amidst new growth forest on land that used to be part of a country club. My next door neighbor lived in a house that was part of that very club. Anyway New England has been heavily shaped by human hands and I have no doubt there are still undiscovered secrets in the northern part of New England.
As I have commented before in an earlier story, I still have some trouble accepting the witnesses detailed descriptions of entities viewed through windshield glass, at night, illuminated only by headlights from cars going at speeds - of what - 25 - 40 miles per hour. I could readily accept descriptions of the General shape - but details down to the texture of the skin seems a bit of a stretch. I’m not saying it’s impossible but I’m taking their testimony with several grains of salt. As always - well-written, exceptionally narrated and beautifully illustrated - a Sunday night treat.
I live in Massachusetts. Even my tiny town has a Bigfoot legend. It's called the Cobble Mountain Critter. Also, I've lived in both the eastern and western parts of Mass and moose are everywhere. The nose, even on a baby moose, would be hard to miss...lol

Are these pictures available on net ??
@@sumit4964 Sorry, no clue. They would have been just drawings anyway.
I live 20 minutes from Dover, Ma. Very rural area with many places for something to stay hidden.
I live here and I'm gonna either catch it or see it.
How this channel doesn’t have 1mil subscribers yet is absolutely beyond me. TY for all the excellent, unparalleled, interesting and compelling videos. Even at 1mil I’d still say this channel is criminally underrated! Much ♥️ to the BTS crew, here’s to the future and many more great videos! Cheers!!
It was your aunt Beatrice
One thing I like about Dover Demons is they're never described as aggressive. Of all Cryptids they seem like the safest to own as pets.
Yea but highly radioactive, the Brazil incident had a similar entity. The person that handled had it died within days.
Man! I would like to see the drawings of those witnesses. Great video!
Really loving these uploads! Looking forward to listening to this tonight, thank you!
Very true. That’s why I’ve never doubted the existence of this or other New England cryptids. Hopefully Bedtime Stories covers more of them!
Very historic! But I believe the pueblos of the southwest are the oldest continuously occupied settlements on the continent. Unless you meant to specify non-indigenous settlements. 😁👍
Out there, there's a planet where grays are watching a documentary about a brave pilot that crashed on Sol III and survived for months
I have lived in Massachusetts my whole life and never heard of this. I appreciate a localish urban legend to look further in to.
Wonderful art work - that first glimpse of the cryptid through the reflections of the couple in the car windscreen. So much more shocking.
Very interesting story, thank you for making this and so many enjoyable, if sometimes very creepy videos
I first heard of the Dover Demon as a kid from the show Lost Tapes from Animal Planet. it still freaks me out
Never heard of this one before. So interesting. Great video as always. And extra awesomeness for using Silent Hill music at the end.
Thats some good scary stuff! I will sleep with a light on tonight and take my garbage out only at day light hours!!! Signed, Greg the egg.
bless this channel for the content it uploads.
Have always been fascinated about this story so glad you made an episode on it.
The art work is beyond words! Well done.
my girlfriends dad has seen this demon at least once, while out running in Norwood, which is the next town over from Dover.
He thinks it's definitely a real thing.
Recently?
Lmao
Theres another commenter that saw it in 2005!
@@hsmd4533 like 5 years ago. He said it swung from tree branches like a monkey but was much faster.
Cool.
Best story telling channel.
Great episode, really enjoyed it (especially since I hail from Massachusetts, myself)! How's about an episode concerning/covering "The Bridgewater Triangle"?
Sweet... 😍 This is going right into my "Bedtime Stories" sleep playlist, I can't wait for tonight!! 👍👍
Same. Right under my favorite Bedtime Stories video: Lair of the Wendigo.
As a Massachusetts resident, I wouldn't call Dover "rural". A place filled with estates isn't the first thing I think of when I think of rural. Nor being smack dab in the suburbs of Boston.
Lived in Norfolk county my whole life, it’s far from Rural. I now go to college in the South… and THIS is rural 😂
Awesome. I live in Southeastern Massachusetts. Dover is a nice place to live but expensive. We have a numerous stories that include aliens and cryptics. The Berkshires are a prime area for such activities.
Lol I live in the same part of MA as you. The whole state is expensive.
Right. I lived in needham for 40 years. That must be one wealthy demon
@@todayswordoftheday One of my relatives lives in Barrington, MA. It's in the middle of nowhere and expensive as well. The whole state is one large debt trap. 😥
There’s tons of Alien stories around the Berkshires, very odd ones too.
Another amazing story, thanks! Cheers!
Are you guys still going to do a video on Buffalo Ranch in Colorado?? You had mentioned it in the last video on Skinwalker Ranch.
Ok so I'm from Eastern Massachusetts and like many from that area who proudly display their paranormal love for your channel I must say that BTS would do well for making a Bridgewater triangle/ hockamock swamp episode....I'm sure i will get much support on this too
Yeah, i could tell ya some things i saw when living in the swamp. Place is evil
@@nothingforyouhere418 I've got my family's house right near a hockamock swamp run off/ mini swamp and going in there you feel it's not right and like your being watched and now that developers are building on it I'm just waiting and just knowing that something paranormal is going to happen...and as it is sacred land
Poor downed spaceship pilot! At least he still has his suit on, hopefully he got picked up.
Nothing like your car headlights shining on a strange entity at the side of the road as you drive along a lonely dark country road😨.
Ive only ever seen animals.
The art and the narration together really make this show! Not forgetting the quality writing.
Yes! I've been interested in the Dover Demon ever since I read about it in the book _Monsters You Never Heard Of_ by Daniel Cohen. DD is one of my favorite cryptids. Thanks for bringing us the story!
There were accounts of paranormal experiences in his books that I've never found anywhere else. Someone should compile and re-publish them.
I still have my beaten up old paperback copy. The picture of the Jersey devil in it used to terrify me as a kid.
I remember first hearing about the Dover demon when it was featured on a Lost tapes episode.
Pretty creepy especially the red eyes
I remember that book as a kid.
Whoooaaaaa!!!!! I had a handful of Daniel Cohen books when I was a kid. I hadn't thought about them in 30 years. I'm having a moment right now after reading this comment. Thank you!!!
This channel is amazing! Thank you so much for presenting these great stories.
This is one of the first cryptid/occult stories I read of as a child. Nice to hear it agsin.
I was honestly wondering if this story would come up soon or later! Glad to c that it has!!
The moon coming out of the clouds to reveal the creature was an amazing bit of art.
Great video, thanks for the update.
Stories like this, where people see something for a short period of time and never again, always make me wonder if a rift between dimensions open up and things from some other odd version of earth pop up in our world and are just as confused as we are about what in the hell is going on.
Or, they made it up
Oh yeah baby 🤩 I am glad someone is doing this ah some bedtime stories.
Some of the cryptids that have less information could maybe even be thrown together on a compilation style video. I'm thinking the Loveland Frog would be perfect for that format.
Bedtime stories I missed videos like this. Welcome back!!!!
I love bedtime stories, and wartime stories.
Can't thbaknyou enough yet again for another amazing story and youe always hard work guys. Respect all around gentleman. Thank you all God bless you always.
It was me. I was the demon. You didn't have to call my eyes almond shaped pits though, damn.
I love the offbrand theme of Laura around 14:00 😍 Been listening alot lately, this got me. I love silent hill
You guys have one of the best channels for the dark and mysterious. I have a great deal of respect for all of you!!!!
Oh yes! Finally, you are returning with a story of the legendary Dover demon aka Mannegishi! XD :D :)
Excellent musical choices in this video.
As soon as the description began, I immediately recalled Varginha's incident, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The description is incredibly similar, save for the only notable different is that the creature from Varginha had the callouses-like lumps on its head.
My wife and her family is from MG and also her mom is from needham, and her dad has talked to me about what your saying!!
Another classic cheers Rich!
BUSINESS MAN! BUSINESS MAN! JAPANESE BUSINESS MAN!!!
This was one of the best episodes you’ve done in a very long time. Good job guys.
Remember first hearing about this thing on an episode of ‘Lost Tapes’ on animal planet great to see it come back to the light
Great work. Keep it up. Been putting off watching this one for a while for a good reason. TY!
I live a half hour away from where this happened. Really creepy incident if true.
Your channel never disappoints. Another well done video.
Inclosing, oh yeah! thanks for the heads up on this episode. Signed, Greg the egg.
I just love your voice my friend!! Thank you for the video!!
WOW as a Masshole I'm shocked I've never heard about this.
Silent Hill 2 OST being the resident spooky video soundtrack makes is wonderful.
Silent Hill 2....
*You made me happy.*
Ah yes probably my state’s biggest claim to cryptid fame.
There have been a lot of theories about what the Dover Demon was. I’m curious as to what you think it was. Or if it had offspring. I would hate to meet its offspring.
Missed this yesterday. Interesting story.
Watching from Medfield, MA which is the town directly next to Dover! We love your content here in “rural Massachusetts” hahaha!
Good work fellas 👍🙂👍
The description reminds me of the bird people from the movie The Beastmaster.
@@mirandagoldstine8548 Having lived 10 miles North of Bangor, I share your certainty....
the real scary part is that a dude whos old enough to drive is dating a 15 year old
I love bedtime stories always creepy and spooky with great story animation !
I’m not saying it’s impossible but I’m taking their testimony with
several grains of salt.
As always - well-written, exceptionally narrated and beautifully illustrated - a Sunday night treat.
Awesome episode guys, loved the animation and drawings. Always look forward to your guy’s stories and videos.
I live in Massachusetts. Even my tiny town has a Bigfoot legend. It's called the Cobble Mountain Critter. Also, I've lived in both the eastern and western parts of Mass and moose are everywhere. The nose, even on a baby moose, would be hard to miss...lol
Great !! A new video from my favourite channel !
