  • Honor Guard Units from 12 Fire Departments in Indiana, culminated their week of training with a mock funeral, held at Traders Point Christian Church and the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. The firefighter students took part in a week long Honor Guard School, sponsored by Professional Fire Fighters Union of Indiana and hosted by the Indianapolis Fire Department. The class was conducted by Instructors from DFL Honor Guard Training.
The mock funeral was held to allow the Honor Guard members to role play a real life scenario all to common in the fire service. The school is one step in establishing a state wide Fire Department Honor Guard system to assist as needed and where needed.
On hand for the ceremony and to assist with the scenario was Raeanne Davis, widow of fallen Muncie paramedic firefighter Scott Davis, who lost his life in the line of duty on June 15, 2011. Raeanne graciously agreed to participate in the event and stated she was ever thankful for the honor guard members who stood watch over Scott after his tragic loss.
Agencies represented are #IFD, Wayne Twp. FD, Plainfield Fire Territory, Frankfort FD, Terre Haute FD, Zionsville FD, City of Franklin FD, Speedway FD, Pike Twp. FD, Brownsburg Fire Territory, Indianapolis Airport Authority FD and Decatur Twp FD.
