Repair a broken vertical blind carrier stem clip

- This video demonstrates one method for making an improvised repair to a broken vertical blind carrier stem clip. These blinds are most likely circa 1989 and I think they were manufactured by Hunter Douglas. Key ingredients are a paper clip, M3 pan head screw, and super glue. Tools needed are a drill, drill bit, needle nose pliers, screw driver.

That looks like a LouverDrape Forte set of blinds. Great inventiveness! I haven't found these clips for sale. Even if you do find them, inserting them into the carrier involves getting the particular carrier out of the headrail. So your method is actually faster than doing that.
Good job sir! I have a similar problem. Same age home too 1989. I’m sure the vertical blinds are original as well. My carrier clip broke just one of the little hook tabs so not completely off like yours. I think I’ll try a white paper clip though lol. There’s tons of videos showing the C clip style repair but not this style. Thanks for video.

Hello. Please I need to know how to replace the hooks the verticals. The hooks are old and needs to be replaced. Please can you please help me.
How can i pull out the stem. I got new ones but i can't find out how to remove it from the rail
slats- fill the bathtub with soapy water & let them soak for a few min... of course sitting on the floor and manually clean them is also an option... lol

You can buy a new pin. but you have to drill the old one out . All of it then snap in the new one.
i have a simular situation and would be interested in more detail on how to snap in.

I tried to take the old pins a week ago but but they all just snapped in half and broke. Now I have three stuck stems.
Drilling them and using the paper clip worked for me!

I'm sorry but re-engineering (hacking) the blind is not repairing it. How do you remove the old, broken clip and install a replacement clip???
Sorry it wasn’t the fix you were looking for. These blinds are 30+ years old and I had no luck finding exact fit replacement clips. This was the best repair I could manage. With this vintage model the clip is possible to replace if you can find the part but it requires removing all 62 slats, dismounting the head rail, removing the carriers from the end of the extrusion, removing / replacing the clips from the top of the cars and reversing the operation. So a few hours of work vs less than 10 mins to improvise. 3 years on and still working like a charm. Wont meet everyone’s definition of being repaired but it worked for me. Hopefully someone else out there has a video up that shows clip replacement.

This bro was loosing $1000+ a day for months with no end in sight. The less than a dollar diy route was definitely more appealing LOL.
